Note: if you don't want to remove the camera from your car, you can also load the firmware bin on a microSD card (formatted FAT32) in your computer (with an adapter or card slot), then just plug it into the unpowered camera in your car and power it on - it will update as well. Just be sure to leave it on until the update is complete.
Thanks man Viofo should send you a check. Their website should include a how to video. Telling us to copy the root bin file like all of us knows what that mean.
Downloaded all the files because I thought I was downloading the wrong one and it still doesn’t go into download mode it just turns on into memory mode
I have a a129 plus duo. There is no buffered mode and firmware to the rear camera was announced and cannot be downloaded. Contacting the support, I received a reply telling that firmware to the rear camera "does not need to be updated"... Sounds like someone wanna to hide a hardware problem....
On the website there is a note that if you are not having problems with your rear camera it is advised to NOT perform the update. If you are, perform the update. (I just updated the front camera yesterday. Haven't had any problems with my rear camera, that I can tell.)
How did you get your file to download like that? Because every time I try downloading my file it’s asking me where do I need to download the file. But it’s not giving me those option. Help
Hi Irving, It should default to the "download" folder on your computer. I coyldn't say exactely what's going on without seeing it. What kind of computer do you have?
Not all cables have the capability of transferring data. The short cable is able to transmit data(and power) while the long one can only transmit power.
I've done this maybe a dozen times, it will not update the firmware. I've formatted the card in the camera, on my PC, on a laptop, used 4 different micro SD cards, hard reset camera etc etc etc. It will not update firmware, I'm about to throw it through the f-ing window...
Thanks, not sure why you cannot just remove the Micro SD card from the camera, then put the firmware file in the root folder using your PC, then put the card back into the camera and boot it that way. My Viofo A129 is installed onto the windscreen using the 2 sided tape and it will be very hard to get it off and then put it back on. Might have to use a laptop in the car.

You say to use the smaller usb cord not the longer one, why is that🤔
The smaller cord is a data cable whereas the longer cable is just a power cable.

the same to me. downloaded the file, copied it on the card, re-connect camera but the update does not start. wtf
If it doesn't work (bin file not removed), you might h have downloaded the wrong file. DOUBLE CHECK!
Yes FWA129N was a dud for me, needed the other one.
Mine doesn't install after I disconnect and reconnect.. It just enters USB storage mode again and the bin file is still there
Found the issue... I accidentally downloaded the A129 instead of A129 Pro firmware. The filename for the Pro is FWA129P.bin
