Bulgarian trains are a classic man! I live in Germany for many years and i think even tho the trains here are fast and on time just the charm is not there..... Always when i go to Bulgaria i travel by train, its just an awesome experiance showing your head thru the windows and just roaming around freely. its fucking awesome i love it. cant wait to go back again in January to make some trips with the train :D

@@Peregrination I from Bulgaria. We have unique views, food and history. But ..but..but....Here in Bulgaria the Mafia has a country, not a country has a mafia. And that's the problem. @Filipina in Bulgaria You’re good if you have the simplest of knowledge about the language I think. Communicating with Bulgarians can often prove to be difficult because they don’t care about helping others and often ignore those in need. There’s also the problem that it’s hard to find someone who speaks okay English or another foreign language.
Ohhhhh thank you
I've literally traveled from Sofia to Varna with the exact same train!
We loved it! It was our very first train experience. We don't have trains like this in the U.S. so we were so excited!!
@@Peregrination Cool!
@@Peregrination I am Bulgarian living in US and I know why we don't have trains like this in US. Simply, because the oil companies here killed that industry long time ago...:(
So did your grand grand grand father :)
Our trains are older than you. Their average age is 40 years. Come again in 3-4 years, when the distance from Sofia to Varna will be in 3-4 hours with new trains, new routes 🚄
But we had so much fun! Thanks for watching our video!
I left Bulgaria 30 years ago and now when I visit I love using the trains. Unfortunately Bulgaria and its trains including are only a shadow of what was before. During the so called democratic years Bulgaria has no one public building constructed in the last 30 years, the roads are horrendous and cheaply built. The train stations for the most part are demolished and turned into defecating rooms, and the trains smell and not a pleasant smell that is. Younger people have maybe nothing to compare it to, but I can easily see the difference. If that's what you like about Bulgaria you have very low standards my friends.
Yeah, but how could they know? It's only we who remember what has been and what is no more. And, yet, train rides are still beautiful and peaceful, and the scenery is gorgeous - so I rejoiced with the couple! Generally, big cities such as Sofia and Varna are full of life and young people, while the rest of the country is becoming desolate by the day... But we don't want to spoil the experience of travellers. Different people have different stories to tell. I ran into this a while back:
ua-cam.com/video/c9Ufhi_42h0/v-deo.html
Yeah...our trains are terrible :D Not so many people use it. But there is a process to make them faster. They change the lines with new one, new trains and so on. I hope u enjoyed in Bulgaria guys. Yes, my country is not so rich like West Europe but...it's cute :) I'm proud of my country, our history. I am proud to be Bulgarian.
Come back in summer. It's much better :)
We loved Bulgaria! Thank you for this information & for watching our video!
Next time try another train called Теснолинейка!
Guys, next time you should take the narrow-gauge train from Septemvri to Dobrinishte, a 6-hour ride that will take you through wonderful, idyllic rolling landscapes right to the foot of Bulgaria's most breath-taking mountain, Pirin! You can spend a whole week trekking on its rocky trails, amidst serene glacial lakes, enjoying an unbelievable diversity of views. Best time of the year: July through September.
Thank you for this information! We will have to try that next time!
I'm so surprised how much foreigners like Bulgaria...😂
If you ever go back to BG on the train, ask for the "burz" train, that's the express, and it will only stop in the big towns, not every town. The "putnichescki" is the slow train that makes all the stops. Also, I hope you'd eat more than cold soups....Bulgarian food is incredible, and very affordable.
actually the bus to varna takes about as long...so you didnt lose much time
but if the driver is skilled it can get to 6(говоря от опит)

I have always wanted to go to Europe & take a train. It just looks so beautiful! All the money I wasted on fast food probably could have paid for a vacation. 🤦🏻♀️
Same. 🙋 But if you really want to save up and explore, just know it is possible! The world is so accessible now, please go explore it!
Peregrination My daughter is really into travel as well. We are going to try to start looking into some things. We started small this year. We went to Long Island & NYC. Hey, we had to start somewhere. 😂😂
If you see the prices in Bulgaria compared to $ and Euro, you'd find out that you could pay probably for 10 vacations if you eat junk food occassionally. It is really cheap for outsiders and 90% of the young population in the bigger cities knows English to a decent level.

Eastern europeans actually ARE one of the nicest people
Because they expect to give them money ... most of the people there are extremely poor ..
Have you met us?
The train has its advantages. There is plenty of room so you can walk. It is possible to switch compartment if you don't like something or someone. You could even have a good sleep cos the seats are huge and most of the time empty. I have used trains a lot when I was a student and I know the things haven't change much the last 20 years. Nowadays everybody is in a hurry and the train can't compete with buses but in winter when there is a lot of snow in the mountains it could be a good option.
And I don’t mind clips of the grocery stores. I find it interesting. I’ve never been out of the states, so I am living through you guys! Take me shopping 😂😂
Oooooh girl we'll take you shopping! GROCERY SHOPPING! (our favorite kind, lol) But that's actually really good to know, thanks so much for watching our video!
Peregrination You’re welcome! Thanks for sharing your adventures! And grocery shopping is my favorite kind of shopping too! 😊
We have a joke around here... "When the Chinese were told that it was 7 hours from Sofia to Varna by train (around 300 km) the Chinese thought that Bulgaria is bigger than China
I know that my loved Bulgaria has one of the best views and its so beatifull
I always bring strong essential oils like orange and lavender in a travel alcohol bottle with water plus Clorox wipes for bathrooms. Everywhere overseas, Italy, Amsterdam no products are used in the bathroom, Hawaii was good? The other people appreciate it too!! The U.S. is getting really bad too!! Thanks for the video, prices are great!!
Thanks for watching our video!
Разбирам те.Да се живее в Германия си е трагедия и природно наказание .
Not much people use trains, more of the people are using buses. The train that you used stopped in Veliko Tarnovo - maybe one of the best towns in Europe. The other city that you must visit someday is Plovdiv.
We would love to return to visit Plovdiv! Thanks for watching our video!
I'm surprised that you're so low on expectations, because most of the things you came across are awful even for us Bulgarians. Trains in particular are the worst transport in the country. They are manufactured so long ago and as you can see there are very few that use them. I personally haven't used a train for like 10 years and I totally excluded them as an option to travel across the country. One thing that must be noted, most Bulgarians are incredibly nice towards foreign people, but at the same time we are mean towards each other. Sounds harsh, but that's the truth. Anyway, there are a lot positives too. As you may have noticed, Bulgaria has one of the best landscapes that can be seen in whole Europe. Our traditional food is nice, but that restaurant you visited at the end of this video is awful. I'm living in Varna myself and I know the place. The food there is not good.
And you’re just a hater! To your own country!
This video made me so nostalgic... I loved taking the train, some trains were terrible though - crammed, stinky, and uncomfortable. Planning to try a train trip from Chicago to NYC in the spring, it would be interesting to see how different or similar are the train travels in the U.S compared to Bulgaria.
We are looking to go on a US train route to! It would be very different!
guys next time go to seven rila lakes and veliko tarnovo city and plovdiv city
We are hoping tho hit those when we come back!
@@Peregrination that is an excellent recommendation!!! Make sure to visit those places next time :)
Just in case you didn't know, you could google "lakatnik" and take a look at some birds eye pictures. This is where your train went through and you've said it's like our Grand Canyon :))) Someone mentioned in the comments that this is not the tallest mountain in BG and that's true. However that canyon is one of the most prominent one. The river has created this amazing place.
@@Peregrination If you liked Varna, Burgas will rock your world! Its an hour away from Varna and closer to Sofia, again on the sea side.

I'm glad to see you know how to walk and you know how to use a locker and you are able to purchase a ticket this is so exciting.
The mountain that you saw while you were traveling is called Stara Planina. It is the biggest in the Balkans and the name of the peninsula comes from it. Because "Balkans" literally means mountans. Actually, the highest peak on the Balkans is in Bulgaria, not in Stara Planina in another mountain but as you have saw we have mountains and sea. I hope you like it and come back some day :)

Hi guys! I 've seen some of your videos and really like them. This is how we live, and yes I know how different /difficult it is for you, because of the size of our space. /Imagine China?!?/ If you agree on taking the following advice from me: change the view of the camera just like 12.37" from this vid. It gives a better "fill" on the screen with two persons walkin' and talkin'. Second /valid for everywhere you go/ learn some simple words in the local language. It will open a lot of doors in front of you for no time. All the best from me and keep exploring the World!

You can fly for 30€ from Sofia to Varna, I am from Sofia and I honestly have no idea how you survived this long journey. I’ve been on it once as a child and it was loong and hot 🥵 but the views are worth it :)
I wish they upgraded the tracks at a faster rate. Today I travelled from Burgas to Sofia by train in 6h 38 min. In the past it used to be 7+h, but a few years back they upgraded the tracks and trains travel a lot faster there, but that upgraded section is quite short unfortunately. The same trip would take 3-4h by car and 4h by bus. Surviving the 7+h trip to Varna by train is quite an achievement, enjoying it is God tier. The mountainous part is really the best part about this journey.
The canyon was so cool!! We don't get to relax and just sit down for 7 hours very often, so we really enjoyed it. It's the simple things in life that we really appreciate now! Thanks for watching our video!
