      @Filipina in Bulgaria You’re good if you have the simplest of knowledge about the language I think. Communicating with Bulgarians can often prove to be difficult because they don’t care about helping others and often ignore those in need. There’s also the problem that it’s hard to find someone who speaks okay English or another foreign language.

    If you ever go back to BG on the train, ask for the "burz" train, that's the express, and it will only stop in the big towns, not every town. The "putnichescki" is the slow train that makes all the stops. Also, I hope you'd eat more than cold soups....Bulgarian food is incredible, and very affordable.

    The train has its advantages. There is plenty of room so you can walk. It is possible to switch compartment if you don't like something or someone. You could even have a good sleep cos the seats are huge and most of the time empty. I have used trains a lot when I was a student and I know the things haven't change much the last 20 years. Nowadays everybody is in a hurry and the train can't compete with buses but in winter when there is a lot of snow in the mountains it could be a good option.

    A sleeping one is way better, you have a sink, light, and a place where you can leave your luggage. The only thing is that the sleeping cabins are very tiny, but still better.

    They didn't say whether there are power ports on the train to charge devices and if there is wifi. It does appear rolling stock in Bulgaria is somewhat neglected compared to other European countries.

    • @borrisdzh
      @borrisdzh 5 років тому

      There are no charging ports or wifi in the trains, unless you are in the sleeping wagons which do have charging ports and a sink for washing up, there are 3 bunk beds per cabin and are separated male and female ones. They are just beginning to renovate some of the carts and we might finally have at least plugs for the longer trips.

      The train has large steps and most of the platforms require you to walk up and down a couple flights of stairs. But walking around Varna and Sofia is very easy.
