I remember a school trip to Fleetwood docks probably around 1973 when I was about 6, I was amazed by the ice machine, a big turntable and every so often a huge rectangular block of ice would pop out and rotate round to the crusher. We all pinched leaflets they put on fish with the names of the company that bought them which were wet and stinking in the pocket 😂. Burton designed Fleetwood with the mount at it's centre with long roads radiating from it, they ran out of money halfway and the other half was built grid style. I live near another Burton area in the South
I'm a big fan of old museums, castles and gardens. Thanks for showing us around Jane.
Hey up,lass. Super tour of what, since its inception, was never anything less than a splendid little provincial museum, but now so much expanded and improved, and for the better no doubt.
Perhaps, by virtue of not living locally anymore, it may be twenty/twenty five years since my last visit. At that time, both the Harriet and the Judy, both thankfully rescued, resided outdoors at the back of the museum. I see Harriet has her own dedicated shed, hopefully too, Judy might be offered the same kindness. She being, in a historical sense, more value than the Harriet. IMO
Why do I speak so? I can't say I ever "fished alongside" the Harriet, she being a far bigger boat that worked much farther offshore. But I did however work alongside, Dick "Coosh" Wright, skipper of the Judy sailing out of Jubilee Quay in the same period.
I could well be one of the last fellows alive, given my age then and now, to have ever worked a Morecambe Bay Prawner out of Fleetwood.
Lovely looking round this Jane, love the floor in the entrance 💕 thanks for sharing
Hi Jane, really enjoyed your video of Fleetwood Museum, it's been a long time since I went there, looks amazing, we visit Fleetwood a lot and will Def be going to the museum, the house next door was amazing, thanks for that.
Hi Jane, excellent video. I have been quite a few times to Fleetwood (even born there many, many years ago) but never been to the museum. Will look to correct that on my next visit. I did notice however that you missed the very ornate boot scraper on both your entry and exit of the museum. Shame, looked like some intricate iron work.
Hi Jane going to in there next year on our visit to Fleetwood love the fireplaces gorgeous I remember the old docks were like castle tops cuz my grandad made me have a photo taken I remember looking down at the water petrified lol
