I briefly lived in Lytham St Annes where I got my first job as a computer programmer at Guardian Royal Exchange, I came there from London and this video brings back happy memories. It would have been around 1988 and was only for a few months (I rented in a large house, racking my brains how much my rent was, can't remember but my yearly salary was £4500 if I remember correctly) :) God, how time flies :)
I'm an American and spent six months in Lytham in 1990. I loved that town and have very fond memories of the people. Especially enjoyed the hospitality at the Clifton Arms Hotel.
Nice video, me and the family are staying just outside of Lytham in Warton in a caravan for 2 days to bring in the new year, Lytham looks lovely and thank you sharing the vlog ❤️👍
My old Mum sold up and moved to Lytham from Glasgow, she had many fantastic holidays there over the years so it made sense, lovely place place and people.
Thanks for the tour, lovely town centre could spend many hours there. Never by there even though it’s close to Blackpool. Enjoyed this so will watch some more over the next days.
Visit Fylde Coast I have only been through it back in the days of the open top prom tour bus. I always thought it was a bit too posh for me but after watching your lovely video I think it looks adorable.
Also the kind of shop that sells household things could be called haberdashery, not sure could be wrong, but I do know there was another shop across from there, its not there now, we always went to it when visiting Lytham a few years back, it was called Serendipity and sold things like crystals and pretty ornaments and things for the home, isn't it strange that the shops one loved to go to are not there anymore and have completely changed beyond recognition.
Lovely blog as ever. I live in Lytham - think you should revisit and cover the amazing circular pebble based feature in Lytham Square, and some of the original pebble pavements on the streets leading from Clifton Street to the Green.
As a shoe shop is an ineluctible force for some, so is a second hand bookshop for the writer of this comment . . . I have never yet found one in this lovely town but I shall keep searching! I always make a bee line for the beautiful Heritage Centre, they have some fascinating exhibitions. The meeting rooms have [or used to have] antique fairs. The floral cobblestone mosaic in Lytham Square is a wonderful example of the art.
No need for second hand book store. There is a virtual library upstairs in Bernardo's Charity shop, as well as well stocked shelves of books of all types in all the other charity shops. Not to mention the independent "new" book shop in the centre of town next to Barnardo's. Great second hand bookshop in St Annes about 3 miles down the coast. Incidentally, some high quality "stuff" in the all the charity shops- not the common "tat".
@@jamessingleton9253 Thanks James, I shall pay a visit to Barnardoes - I have been a frequent patron of the one in Preston. I used to really enjoy the huge bookshop in the middle of Settle - it had a hole in the floor under the carpet that one was advised to avoid! If you are ever in Leyland look out for Great Grandad's Bookshop on Towngate. Thanks again!
@@peteroberts3427 Many thanks Pete, sadly except for Oxfam bookshops the normal charity shops sell mainly fiction and coffee table non-fiction, I enjoy the bookshops that sell more of the academic books including philosophy, bookbinding, calligraphy, serious history, architecture, that sort of thing. If there is something I like in the general charity shops I usually have it already but you never know what might be there as house clearance etc. There is a large bookshop on the promenade not too far from the Eric Morecambe statue at Morecambe. The best in this area of the NW [in my opinion] are both the Halewood bookshops on Friargate each run by a brother. The one at the top of the hill has an enormous selection of Sherlock Holmes. Thank you for your reply Pete and all the best for 2021.
What a fantastic video, thank you! We've just booked for a 1 night stay in Lytham next week (with our 2 young children) so your channel is going to be very useful to allow us to make the best of our stay. We want to take the children to see the illuminations but wanted to stay just outside Blackpool. Looks like we've made a good choice with Lytham! Any recommendations for a restaurant to take an 8 and 5 year old to please? Thanks, Helen
Lytham is the one with the windmill (in this video) and St Annes is the one with the Pier. They're two separate places, but St Annes is often referred to as Lytham St Annes. Confusing or what!
Excellent walk-round. As a Cornishman I loved the Lancs accent which made this vid attractive; ( most walk rounds have an irritating head and even more irritating narration).....but you could read me Lloyd's Shipping Register and I would listen! Are you called Jane?.....if so, congratulations Jane on a compelling walkaround. Tip; do a walkaround of the UK coastline.............I'll watch and listen!
Happy memories. I grew up in lytham n my grandparents lived there until they passed away.

Glad to hear it. People are very friendly around here, I think it's because so many of us move in from elsewhere rather than all being native.

ANOTHER GREAT INFORMATIVE VIDEO JANE
Glad you enjoyed it!
I went to Latham last week, lovely slow and friendly. 😎
You know I’ve never been here before, I need to visit now after seeing your video, thank you
Really? I'd have thought Lytham would have been right up your street!
Visit Fylde Coast I have only been through it back in the days of the open top prom tour bus. I always thought it was a bit too posh for me but after watching your lovely video I think it looks adorable.
Love Lytham, love your video, feel as though I’ve just been…😎
Aw, thanks!
Nicely done. It's my home town. I was born at home on Mythop Road rather a long time ago.
I used to live there twenty years ago, it's lovely I miss it.
Absolutely love lytham st annes
What a lovely shopping AREA...😁😁err Hello. 😁
Love Lytham, my wifes fav shop is Stringers
Just catching this now love lytham big fan of Fylde rugby 🏉 great video has in the words of arnie I’ll be back
Very nice so under rated
bootiful
I'm sure the building you mentioned is the lifeboat house, we walked down here and had a drink at the pub across from it.

That's the word, haberdashery. It was on the tip of my tongue and I just couldn't think of it.

I'll make a note!
Cool
I grew up in Lytham, the assembly rooms use to be the swimming pool for schools.
It was indeed

Oh we like a good bookshop too! New or second hand - either is fine 👍

Lots of charity shops selling books and shoes in Lytham, St. Annes, Ansdell but not Fairhaven.

Fabulous! Thanks for letting me know!
Is Lytham and Lytham St Annes the same place?

Things for the house... haberdashery.
That’s the word!
Shocked that you stood in front of the Cenotaph and did not mention it, felt it showed a lack of respect
Apologies
What is the differece between Lytham and St. Annes?
There's a thing. Lytham is Lytham, the one with the windmill. St Annes, the one with the pier, is known as Lytham St Annes.
Didn't know St. Anne's got a pier.
y is the centre closed
Because it's run by volunteers and doesn't open 9-5 hours anyway. They will have been impacted by covid restrictions.
It's very posh. Wealthy people.
Another steadily filmed video
Is your camera gyroscopic?
It's got image stabilisation - and it does work!
Blur the listened plate

Glad you enjoyed it - I am Jane indeed. But it's a Yorkshire accent! I'm from the other side of the hills originally.
@@visitfyldecoast I had a seriously-Yorkshire chum once. He said the best thing to come out of Lancashire was the road to Yorkshire!
Is lytham dog friendly
Yes it is, there's more info here: visitlytham.info/lifestyle/local-shopping/dog-friendly-places-in-lytham/
Where’s the best place to live near lytham but not in Lytham because the houses are too expensive
Well Lytham isn't that big so anywhere around it! Have a look on Google maps and see what you like the look of.
170k is expensive? 😅
Cleveleys
Polton le fylde is nice. But is just as expensive as Lytham. I lived in Lytham for 7 years. Now I live in the cotswolds.
fish and chips in lytham very expensiv double the price of blackpool
Try "Chippy Tuesday" offer 2x small cod and chips for #6.00!!!!!
I see my face in my house window how creepy
Quite a smug, 'I'm alright Jack/Jill' atmosphere about the town. Just sayin'.
