Yeah seems about right but making Diego a bit younger is a good call imo. Damn I was so broken when I saw him old and fragile in Gothic 3 or even in Arcania.
One additional point - make the NPCs older and grittier. They are too pretty and young. Also not really looking like stupid assholes, but kind office workers who just came from a barber. Diego looks great. More Diego.
There's also the inconsistent speed of combat. In the start of the trailer we see a trained nameless hero attacking with a one handed sword. And the attack was slick and fast (which it should be). However there was another scene where a trained digger from the Old Camp was attacking the player with a one handed club. But boy those attacks were so slow and telegraphed. I'm not sure if they are implementing different attack speeds depending on the kind of weapon being used
Something super small. Super nitpicky. The bird flying in the background is probably just a placeholder, but birds don't fly with their legs stretched out.
The wisest choice that they can make with the orcs is to simply slap some fur on them and the current hairless model give tho Gorn. Two birds with one stone. 13:17 Honestly i haven't even spotted them in this scene, only in the other one when you could also see the droplets run down the screen. That being said I think that the effect is subtle enough for the game.
I believe the whole players feedback and necessity to please everyone no matter what these days does more harm than good, let the artist do his thing, and either it turns out to be sh1t or not, but seems to me the modern ways dont result in many masterpieces

Great feedback, esp the water on the screen, it is not just about visibility but also about breaking immersion. You are not looking at the world through some lenses, right? The hero doesnt wear glasses.
10:54 , combat scenes from the trailer are too short to judge to be fair. In this time in the video you can see all of them are either attacking or drawing their weapons, so it might not represent what combat looks like at all. In the next scene you show from the OG, you can see only 2 of the bandits attack you in melee and the rest stand still using the bow. They don't all come at you.

You joking? The visibility drops at night are amazing! I loved how I needed to use torches during night and when I was out of torches I was happy that a thunderstorm started so I can see bits of the road! This MUST BE in game! 100%! I may confuse it with Risen 1, but I am pretty sure it was also in old gothics. And when I was being attacked at night I was dropping the torch down to still light around so I can see who the hell I am fighting against! :) Love that crap.
my biggest issue from what I've seen in the trailer is the flora. Compared to the original, it feels more... like an Alps landscape? I mean, the valley in the original game felt like a wild countryside. Not the same vibe here. Also, compared to the surrounding countryside, the woods felt like actual forests: dense, with so many trees that the light barely made it underneath, the woods gave the vibe of an actual ecosystem in Gothic, you could feel it was a radically different ambience when you entered the woods. It was so immersive. I don't think they nailed it from what I've seen in the trailer.
1:20 they said 2 new biomes some time ago... but never explained. so its possibly on the other hand this guard looks in light armour. how was that heavy armour defeated by pickaxe? 6:50 i think they even mentioned of possible new enemies... i wonder if that means something out of G2 or something else completely... or was just... um... something to confuse people.
Well we theoretically did see some "new enemies". There was a scene in the showcase where the player was fighting wargs. Wargs were not introduced until G2 and the first game had orc dogs

The orc dogs acted as wargs in the first game and were later supplanted by wargs in G2. For that matter we never see orc dogs in G3 either. Archolos mixes them both though
6:37 why does it kinda look like the 98 godzilla, also what about the other monsters/wildlife? will they all get remade to look closer to the original so there is at least slight resemblance? since the scavanger looks way to much like a raptor and we already have like 4 of those (snapper, razor biter, and dragon snapper) and only one bird which is the scavanger
@@jebise1126 that's not a lurker. most probably a razor or mabye (less likely) a dragon snapper. that is not a lurker since this razor can be seen in a very dry place with no water source (where razors normaly are like for example jharkendar the canyon). also lurkers should be green or yellow atleast to fit the original more otherwise you couldnt make a connection of that being a lurker since aperantly everything has teeth now and looks like a dinosour, not even bloodflies were spared.
@@5chneemensch138 would make sense. yet again aperantly someone said kai (the guy who makes the music) said that they have a list of the things that need to be fixed that are being complained about. hopefully they actually try to listen to the critisism and not the guys saying everything is perfect when it is far from being so and will attack anyone with slightest critisism. due to the trailer i see community split (atleast on some platforms) between people who want changes and people who want no changes at all using "logic" for reasoning when that logic makes no sense especially for the swamp camp to have candles since you need wax for said candles and constantly need to be bought over and over again instead of using ore in a place that already is extremely damp. though i hope they dont fail the only thing we have close to a remake otherwise we wont have anything for a while again.
i think orcs are fine of course they would look better if they keept they monkeyness, i like very much new elite orc armor (looks more like something done by less skilled than humans orc blacksmith)

I’m so tired of the vocal minority getting what they want. Only very few vocal people on the discord (and even less so on Reddit) complained about the stained glass. I like it. They Shiism keep it. They also need to bring Gothic 1 and 2 more in line. Also the mages and monastery are based on European Christian medieval culture and aesthetics.
The wet effect is something nice to have. I mean why so radical about it? If it's there already then just make an option to turn it on/off and everyone is happy that way. Even in the og games we could tweak some special options like wind, cloud shadows, etc. Perfect options' section for a thing like that.
You're neither wearing a helmet in fp nor is someone following you with a camera. Water flowing down the screen is the dumbest thing you could add right after bloom, lens flare and motion blur.

@@LieutenantGruber 95% of people don't change options. Having the correct options by default is immeasurably important. Most devs actually do NOT give you a choice. The majority of time it is hidden behind "post processing" which says literally nothing and is either all or nothing.

So for me, two things. 1. Why the hell does Milten looks like Todd Howard (7:44). That must be changed, it's total immersion breaker for me. 2. I am okay with that stained glass window, but the figures depicted on it should not be people with halos. There could be Innos or some heroic paladin, mage or something like that there, but in Gothic religion there are no saints, so there should not be depicted in the art.
No Christian Themes? Who came up with this cope? The mages are in a medieval monastery and the paladins literally have a Red Cross on their front armour lol
Many people complain about just that. Gothic 2 was a huge departure in terms of themes. Having Paladins and monasteries is fine, just make it more in line with Gothics original dark and occult vision.
I would love if the game pace would feel like the old gothic , smoothfast movements and i teraction keeping you atracted to the game, too many animation and slow start of running and long rotations would make it feel toodiferent and ruin the nostalgia

Ive seen stained glass used in gothic content with zero Christianity involved, grave yards churches as well

it makes sense in G1R to keep the stained glass, its literally there in G2
And sadly Gothic lost a lot of its uniqueness to general high fantasy which was implemented with G2.

lurker is sort of godzilla but lurker should walk on all 4 so longer front legs. i would not mind that look for lurker but with longer front legs.

The remake desperately needs proper cloth physics, especially for the swamp camp armors and when climbing ladders.
