I believe Sun Jian’s honorable and selflessness lead to his downfall, he had the power to breakaway from Yuan Shu if he wanted to…If he did he wouldn’t have battled Liu Biao’s forces and he could’ve lived longer but unlike Liu Bei and Cao Cao he was not ambitious enough to be more than just a Warlord for the Han
I wish him and his son both lived much much longer lives. Would have been interesting to see how things played out with them both staying alive.
I thought about this the other day; how Sun Jian was once compared to Dong Zhuo. 'If Sun Jian reaches the capital it will just be a matter of history repeating itself'. This made me think of the saying 'You either die a hero (Sun Jian) or live long enough to become a villian (Dong Zhuo).
As for Sun Jian's first daughter, Lady Sun, her actual name was never officially written down, although she is often given the names Sun Ren and Sun Shangxiang in modern media.

I cannot help but wonder how things would have gone if he wasn't killed when he was.
I think it was one of Yuan Shus advisors who said if Sun Jian captured the capital from Dong Zhuo then history would simply repeat itself. This makes me think some people must have viewed Sun Jian and Dong Zhuo as similar.
Sun lost the battle against Huang Zu when he shouldnt have. My guess is if Sun wasnt killed he would have eventually forced Liu Biao to surrender to Yuan Shu. Yuan would then most likely declare himself Emperor earlier than usual but i dont think Sun Jian would have remained loyal to him.
He might have stationed back at Chang Sha to eventually seize Jing Province. It would look like a similar scenario to when Sun Ce conquored Wu but done under Sun Jians orders and with the support of Jings troops.
In an ideal world Sun Jian would take his clan to join Cao Cao and together they could probably unite the entire realm within their lifetimes but this would unpredictably change a great many things.
