Hard to believe this album is 45 years old, Genesis was so damn impressive for their time.
I’m right with you!
We grew up in the greatest era for music..
And there were three geniouses...
Only three musicians to create a gigantic piece of art.
There is no time to thank enough for such a gift to my ears.
One of the best albums coming from an old head who first heard Genesis in 1969. Gabriel, Collins in all eras and styles show great talent. Yes and Genesis my 2 favorites of prog. Helped me through my life when young and still.. ❤❤❤❤🙂
Tull and King Krimson are quite good too.
@@blabbermouth777and Emerson Lake and Palmer
@@MrJeremy9835 sorry and your right but I never got into them.
@@blabbermouth777 it’s never too late ⏰ try out Tarkus

One of my absolute favorite songs. Go West, young man!!
I did exactly that, moving from Ohio to Arizona at 19 years old armed with a Sony Walkman, mix tapes and my bass guitar.
This song instantly turned me into a Genesis fan when I heard it playing in a record store. What a phenomenal band!
Good Bass riff on this song
....and I didddd!
@@1michaelricci may I ask, plz:"how it has turned out"?
Very under rated album by Genesis, good vibes and music by them
Was stationed in West Germany when this album took off. Its Amazing how much the Gemans loved these guys!!!!!!!!
The whole album is so good
This song is so amazing it brings tears to my eyes!
A Mike Rutherford track.
@@rogerhennie8939 Yes, I tear up too! When the guitars come in at about 3’40” Really exhilarating
Thank you, Dad, for the great music I would have never discovered had it not been for your eclectic tastes.
I have loved Genesis since the early 70's, seen them in 78 in Toronto CA when they were on tour for this album. Seen them 7 times, in 3 countries and two continents...
Tony Banks showpiece, the keyboard riff is immaculate
But Rutherford wrote the Piece.
@@rogerhennie8939 It is interesting how a song is credited, the songwriting credit is often down to stringing the chords together. More than often those that do a solo are not credited as writers.
Most parts are on guitar-synthesizer, which Mike also used massively in his first sólo album
Great song & amazing album....but Phil's drumming is just wonderful.
❤🧞♂️🧞♂️
so sad to see Phil Collins deteriorate like he is. He'll never be forgotten. Thanks for all the songs that bring me memories...good or bad.
Masterpiece. And my favorite album all eras
I do love this album and their last truely great album until Calling All Stations, but allot of great albums before.
This music is embedded in my soul, pure magic.
This, trick of the tail and Duke.
My favorite band in high school!
At 3:36 - that beat and the way the guitar slides right into the lyrics. Best part of this song, at least for me it is.
Best song of ATTWT album. And yes, at 3:36 when Mike kicks in, fabulous
I was just thinking that. It's so very satisfying.
Yes, yes and... Yes !
God yes
You should have seen this concert live the best
Thanks for this gift my favourite Band! Wishing you all health and success! I love you Genesis! ❤️🎼🎶
Hey,how are you? wolf

Love the entire album!!
Still as fresh as the first time I heard this...................all those years ago. I bought the album on the day of release. Then saw them live. Thank you guys. You have massively enhanced my life over so many years.
Tony Banks rocks - as does this song! 🤘
Sing along lyrics:
Get out of the way fat man. You got something to do
Go fill up your hands till they're shining up at you.
You gotta get out while there's gold in the air
It's falling like water, coming down from the hills.
Go West young man
Earn a dollar a day just like your family said.
You're rolling your days right on into the night
The head of the line's going way out of sight.
Go West young man like your family said
All along the wagons
All along the dusty trail.
Seventeen years not over a day
Like children in the wild.
Your mother's milk still wet on your face
And no one to pray for your safe journey home.
Out beyond the desert
Across the mountains by the fall.
Servants who leave their masters house
Are walking all the way.
The golden fields that beckoned you
Are darkened by the years.
Go West Young Man
If you knew then what you know today
You'd be back where you started a happier man
And leave all the glory to those who have remained.
So Go West Young Man
Go West Young Man, like your family said.
It’s their New World Symphony, but for classic rock. Always loved this album. The sunset in the cover takes me back to when i was 8 to in Southern California. Epic memories. 💕💕🌏🌏🌏
Thanks 4 lyrics!
I listened to this album while my father was stationed at Tachikawa Air Force Base in Tokyo, Japan.
Proof positive that Tony Banks isn't the only member of Genesis who could paint such a beautiful and brilliant picture in writing such insightful, heartfelt lyrics - as this wonderful song was written by bassist/lead guitarist Mike Rutherford (the other founding member of Genesis). 🙂
Bravo, Genesis!!! 🙂
GREAT ALBUM
I just love this album
One of their most under-rated albums, love it.
Fantastic album
Yes! What an excellent song this is! Most definitely pushes all the right buttons, so to speak. Love it! 😎👍
Ascoltati a 15 anni e mai più lasciati ..ne ho 64 ..
One of my favorite Genesis albums with Phil as the frontman...
So sad to hear about Phils' heath.
#stay strong, maestro!!!!!
Phil completely took over the vocals and didn’t miss a beat.
It had to be Phil doing the vocals , no one else could have done it...
To the greatest band that ever lived and music that will never be made again like this treasure it as I do, a Genesis fan for 45 years
First Genesis album I bought and I was just a kid, wow.
Mine too!
2024 and I am still listening, I think I said it along time ago , Phil Collins doesn't have to write or sing another note because I WILL PLAY HIS MUSIC FOREVER 🎉❤
Go West, Young Man.
i recall when it first came out,,,Gabriel left,,,we worried,,,then this icredible masterpiece,,,still glorious 50 years on
What a way to make 3 sound like 10. This album carries the most unfairly underrated ratings of all their albums. But for me it's their dark side of the moon
it is one of the their best albums!!
Just like Rush 😎
found it a Library in 1990's .. big surprise! SNOWBOUND also! 2023 now
A beautiful song to end the year very well!🎸🎹🎶♥️
I love the slow shuffle beat in this song
Das beste Album mit dem besten Song der Gruppe für immer GENESIS
Back when this album came out I lived in a very old house. I could make the windows rattle with this song. Oh the good old days.
What an amazing difference the new stereo remix has made! You can hear so much more it's like listening to the song for the first time all over again! Sounds phenomenal on LP and CD!
The original LP (that I still keep) suffered from that era vynil problem like all of them lasting more than 23 minutes-a-side: sounds "smothered" to say, like too compressed, with weak range. Considering all the remastered editions to this day, ATTWT is the one which I notice the largest improvement.
@@GraachAhimThe remixes are all quite compressed themselves. And I'm not sure about things like the changed drum sound in "Snowbound".
When that massive chord comes in at 3:42!. Heavier than guitar.
I just saw Genesis Perform at the new UBS center in Belmont NY. Excellent performance on the last domino tour. Genesis did an acoustic set with follow you follow me!, Phils son is an excellent drummer!1
I was also at that show
One of my favorite Genesis songs! This audio sounds really good tome
Thank you for sharing, beautiful! Happy New Years to everyone & make 2022 the best year ever ❤️😇❤️
🥳 🌷
Yessss
Ending the year with a great concert starter!
The synth riff is amazing!!! "Turururuuuuuuu rururuuuuu turururuu turururuuu"
If it wasn't for Pink Floyd, Genesis would be my favourite band! 😏 This for me is one of the best songs this great album.
..another master piece.....
GENESIS, TIENE ASEGURADO UN PUESTO EN LA HISTORIA DEL ROCK.

Eso no lo dudes
Another Classic 💎💎💎
First album I owned!
This is epic and ultimate, this is very clever, Genesis is so incredible. ⭐⭐⭐💯💯💯💿💿💿

Happy New Years 2022 to Genesis, my Phil 😍 and all yours fans !
Brilliant song and album
Absolutely amazing...phenomenal thanku so much love and God bless x.
I remember moving to Oregon and listening to this great Genesis album.
This is very classic and pure gold. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿😁😁😁⭐⭐⭐🎖🎖🎖
Timeless great music.
The new edit is exquisite in its clarity
Awesome
Legendary song and album. Been a blast enjoying Phil's music, and what an inspiration he is with his music and Genesis. Wishing you all the best bud, True masterpiece. Extremely underrated track and album.
I've never heard this before, I've always loved the Phil Collins Genesis but I've lately been getting into Peter Gabriel and early Genesis too..
This is amazing!!!
Air punching delirium!!!! It’s worth having that weird “what the hell is going on” bit in the middle just so the original riff can return heroically and take us even higher. Anyone who thinks this isn’t the best Genesis song hasn’t heard it yet.
This song got me hooked on Genesis. My favourite period is the Hackett years, but every album is interesting and pleasurable.
Great 👍 ✨✨ and a happy new year 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
Simply beautiful. I love it. ✌️
AND THE THREE, SOUNDED MUCH MORE THAN THAT...LONG LIVE GENESIS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR !
Really like this one
I drive back from Wirk at 16:30 at the A 7 (German Highway - Autobahn) from Kempten to Ulm. This Album I lisend a little bit laud ........
This is always the 1st track off this album that pops in my head.Great, signature synths,a mellow middle,then...Boom,for the finale.😁👌
one of my all time favs, think it was the first song I heard live in chcago many years ago at my first genesis concert, we are talking 70s lol
Merci Mike pour cette magnifique chanson !
I saw them open up with this at SPAC in 1980. An amazing concert.
Man mike was on fire, outstanding.
Thanks 👍 for posting
Thank You For Sharing your Amazing Music and Always well Played A Very Happy New Years 2022 To The Whole Genesis Band
Its all about the bass‼
BELLISSIMA.
"If you knew then what you know today /
You'd be back where you started a happier man /
And leave all the glory to those who have remained"
Genesis. One of the best. I would love to meet Phil Collins.😊❤️
This tune is absolutely awesome! Pretty cool symph-prog stuff!
Go fill up your hands
Until they shine up at you
I love the moog taurus bass pedals - wonderful Genesis song 👍
As it ages it's an album that appreciates in value. It's beyond underrated. It's often actually pretty good and provided an invaluable bridge between the last gasp of the 70s heyday (Trick/Wind) and the steps into the admittedly ever slightly poppies chart successes of the 80s (Duke/Abacab).
🥀Beautiful Song! This is deep emotions mixed with that fantastic thoughts that takes me to another place and time! God Bless you Phil Collins another wonderful song. You were the one who inspired me to play drums🥀☝️🥀👣🥀
This song is from an interesting album indeed. It was the first album released since Steve Hackett's departure. While it's true there were only *three* at the time of this release there are several songs on this album that have "echoes" of Steve Hackett's writing and influence. This song is one of those. I believe this song was created while Steve was still an active member in the band and some of his original guitar parts were replaced by Tony's keyboards. During the opening we can hear a wonderful repeated guitar melody that is harmonized by a second guitar as one would expect to hear during the Hackett era (up until the 2:03 minute mark). From 2:03 onward we hear the (uncomplicated) guitar that one might expect to hear from Rutherford up until about 3:21. At 3:21 the main melody is presented by Tony's keyboard. I suspect that, in the original incarnation of this song, this melody was originally played by Steve on guitar. Why? Because it sounds similar in structure and cadence to other melodies in Genesis songs that we know were created by Steve. Then, at 3:34, we hear a guitar bend that is unmistakably Hackett. Plz don't get me wrong on this, Daryl was certainly an accomplished guitar player when he joined the band however his main purpose initially was to "play Steve's stuff". He doesn't play on this album so that means Rutherford was tasked with "playing Steve's stuff" for this album. I think it is fair to assume that Steve Hackett helped write several of the songs on this album, including this one (although he would never mention that because he is a modest person who understands there are boundaries that one should not cross out of respect to other musicians/contracts). Which other songs did he "co-create"? Well, you will have to listen and decide for yourself. I believe over half of the songs on this album were created whilst Steve was still a co-creator. Edit: In fact, I believe that the only songs Steve Hackett did not co-create were "Ballad of Big" and "Follow You, Follow Me". If you listen to "The Lady Lies" and "Scenes from a Night's Dream" they have Hackett's guitar work all over them. "Down and Out" sounds like "The Lamb" era of Genesis and "Snowbound" sounds like something that was written during the "Trick/Wind timeframe". The harmony guitars in "Many too Many" have that haunting Hackett guitar sound we have come to know and appreciate. Perhaps the album should be retitled "There Were Actually Four Except for Two Songs".
Well I still can hear Hackett's guitar melody in Ballad of Big at the last lyrics part and the end of the song.
I think the songs Undertow, Say It's Alright Joe, and Follow You Follow Me that did not co-write with him, as we can't hear Hackett's melody throughout those three songs.
But in the documentary of this album, Banks stated that they wanted to make songs in this album at the similar style with previous albums. just at the shorter length of each song..
Essa música é espetacular!!! Abre o Show no Lyceum Theatre de Londres 1980. Virou uma das minhas favoritas
What a hit back in August of 1978.
Happy New Year ❤️
Ehhjjhhhh
Increíble tema. Buenísimo.
¡Viva génesis progresivo!
😜😙😊💪💪💪
I'll be here awaiting the final stand...love you still and forever my dream
Fantastic live opener at the Lyceum on the Duke Tour 1980.
magnifique
Genesis classic
Great guitar work from Mike.
A underrated guitarist.
Good bass player too.
great talent all around. Collins is way underrated as one of the best prog drummers. Is he the Professor (Im a life-long Rush fan)? No, but he is a really good drummer.
i’m listening to this album for the first time while driving through West Virginia so this surprised me lol
Happy 2022 to all Genesis fans worldwide Happy 2022
❤️
I think this album still worked for me because the leftover influences of - Steve Hackett and that late 70's thing they had going on.
Tony es un genio
