  • Explaining the possible causes of an intermittent low oil pressure warning on an old Honda with an accord/Prelude engine.
    Tq specs:
Main bearing on 2.2: 22ft. lbs, then 54 ft lbs. (Long 14mm studs)
Main bearing on 2.3: 22 ft lbs, then 58 ft lbs.
Timing cover bolts 10mm: 104 inch lbs.
Crankshaft pulley bolt: 181 ft lbs.
Camshaft sprocket bolt 2.2: 27 ft lbs.
Camshaft sprocket bolt 2.3: 43 ft lbs.
Exhaust manifold to head: 23 ft lbs (12mms)
Manifold to downpipe bolts: 40 ft. lbs. (17mm x3)
Oil pan bolts 2.2: 120 in lbs. (10mm)
Oil pan bolts 2.3: 104 in lbs.
Oil pump bolts housing to block: 104 in lbs.
Tighten balance shaft bolts to 20 ft lbs if in doubt, and 10mm bolts to 104 in lbs if in doubt.
Hope this helps you guys, good luck!
Also if you're changing your oil pump with a cheap ebay one, it's probably a good idea to change out the old gear into the new pump to avoid failure down the road.

Ty for this video- I just spent over 3k on getting the transmission fixed up and a day after having it back my oil pressure light came on. Can’t afford taking it to a shop now so after this video I’m diving in

I drove my car with the oil light on and it sounded like a loud lawn mower and was rattling, clanking, banging. When I got home and saw oil shot on the left side of my radiator and oil shavings after I drained the oil. Think its done or can I still save it?

I have a couple questions if you can help me out so I installed an h22a euro r red top engine and 5 speed manual transmission on my 97 prelude but in order for the crank sensor to work I had to replace the oil pump with a regular h22 usdm one because the h22a euro r doesn't have the mounting holes for the crank sensor but anyways so im pretty sure I mounted the oil pump correctly cause the pump sat in nice and firm but when I finished everything I started the car up it idles perfect but sounded kinda like it wasn't getting any oil pressure and sure enough it wasn't after 30 minutes at idle timing jumped from the exhaust side I re timed the engine and again started back up but didn't let it idle to long after I found out im not getting oil pressure so im seeing what would suggest I guess I'll start with checking the oil pick up tube but do you think it might be the pump it self it's brand new got it from Amazon for like 60 bucks came with new O ring and some gasket I just don't want to ruin this engine paid 2700 for it with transmission any suggestions or ideas you may have are appreciated thank you in advance

Your timing being off has nothing to do with your oil pressure being low. Do you absolutely know for a fact that it's a low oil pressure issue and not something else? You could have bent a valve from running it after incorrectly setting the timing and it could be causing it to run like crap.

@@willthecardude6900 so I drained the oil today and removed the oil filter my oil filter was bone dry oil never came thru it im sure ther oil pressure is an issue im thinking the oil pick up tube might have got clogged with maybe some excess gasket maker I used to install the oil pan but to answer the question about the timing so my exhaust cam jumps a tooth after about 30 minutes at idle and was told by another person that's helping me figure this out said the cylinder head is running the cams dry causing that friction to jump the exhaust cam therefore throwing off my timing by a tooth or two when I re timed the engine it fired right up but didn't let it idle to long cause I know it'll most likely jump again but then I also removed the valve cover and fired up the car like that to see if I was getting oil to the cylinder and was not at all im just hoping it's the oil pump it self cause it was allot easier to install the oil pump when the engine was off the car vs it being in the car but either way I guess I'll start with inspecting the oil pan and oil pick tube first since those are ther easiest to get to I appreciate the reply thanks I'll continue investigating the issue

@@willthecardude6900 also I forgot to mention the cars idle sounds normal no back fires or it running weird at idle just once it warms up it dies then I realized it jumped a tooth on the exhaust side only crank and intake cam still in timing perfectly just exhaust cam jumps a tooth
