You told us what not to do, but not what to do.
He did tell you what to do. Find the right wire length and angle to keep them off the headers. Every situation is going to be a bit different, he can't tell you exactly what you need.
@@--_DJ_-- I already do this. I guess this video is for the people that rest their wires on their headers. I thought that was obvious what not to do, but this day and age...

They never look to see what the * means.
It seems pretty obvious that your wires are going to burn if they are laying on a manifold, no matter what you wrap around them.
100% correct I see it all the time works for a very short time you can not have direct contact .

i wrapped my headers and put a sleeve on the wires and last week i took a look to checke them out and they were cracked as Doug said it would happen. the wires are like new i have had the engine running like 10 times and that was enough, so goona have to do some mods there.😏
A set of header plugs makes a big difference.
Is there a length limit you try to stay away from? With my turbo headers I bought DIY wires and routed them all under the header to the back then up around to the coils because of this issue lol

Just had this problem on a buddy’s truck. Header still killed the plug wire with the heat wrap that was touching
What to look for when buying a used ls engine
Doug, what are your thoughts on the ceramic boots? Accel 9000 series have full ceramic boots that claim to be able to withstand 1200* temps, can lay on headers... etc
I have them and still issues even the dei 2000* direct contact rated boots. Word is 90 boots at plug and run under the manifold and around.
Good tips, audio is really low though.

Common sense helps. The manufacturers spend millions on R and D. They have years of experience. I've never had a problem with plug wires burning. Proper boots and brackets (not wire ties) keep the air gap constant. Is it more time consuming and stressful to do that every time you change a set of wires? Hell yeah but it beats a misfire on the big end, losing and making excuses
Stock manifolds facing forward, no problem using stock plug wires. 🤷🏻♂️
Put 1/4 or 5/16" fuel line around the wires followed by a wrap of electrical tape. Let's see something destroy them after that
