  • How To Very Easily FIX A BROKEN SPARK PLUG WIRE!!
    In this video I fix a broken spark plug wire on my 2003 Chevrolet Suburban 1500. I decided to check the condition of my spark plugs and got through two on the passenger side just fine. When I went over to the driver side the first plug I pulled broke. So, instead of dropping $100 dollars to buy a new set I decided to fix it.

    very nice video... Thank You so much for making this... i had a no start condition so i check for spark and i had non. i removed the coil and cleaned mounting surfaces. and regap coil. still no spark found end of coil wire at spark plug faulty connection could not believe it, trimmed end off recheck and now it working great, just crazy problem... yep it was the end of the wire at the plug... who would of thought no spark problem is at the end of the wire at the spark plug connection ???

    Thanks for this video. I personally think this fix will last a lifetime, unless your try to take out the spark plug again then you might disturb the plug wire again. Otherwise I think it's a pretty good and solid fix.

    Done this many times in the past minus the grease. One time a repair shop claimed they had to replace a bad plug wire and replaced it with one with a plastic boot that ended up cracking my spark plug in half. Had to buy a new spark plug and I replaced their plastic boot with a rubber one from an old set. Yeah they replaced a wire from an almost brand new set.

    I've spent a coupla days trying to fix a strimmer. Seen all the videos. Turns out there is something wrong inside the 6" ( ?) of ht wire. It's moulded into the coil, which are cheap enough but a) the principle of the thing, b) month by slowboat from China. Looking at doing a splice but didn't realise how THIN the one strand of wire is inside, and DELICATE! Even your one has its own private insulation!

    My Jeep Wrangler #6 spark plug wire kept popping off whenever I'd hit a good bump. Pulled over on the freeway as I was half way to picking up my wife from the airport. Took Super Glue I had in the glove box and put a few drops around the rubber boot and popped it back on the spark plug. Been running good for a week, lol. I did order a new set of wires and have the tools in the Jeep to fix it should it break while driving and of course have a roll of Duck Tape......
    Thank you for the informative video, added a pair of needle nose to my emergency kit, lol

    awesome vid , probably it'll work for my motorcycle , i made the mistake twice, technically a 12 v whatever should be ok BUT it fries the starter solenoid i can get used or aftermarket cheap, so next i have old carbs i clean over and over , this time spotless mostly BUT i find two funky spark plug wires (big 4 cylinder) so i realize the messed up running has been a short and not running probably the both wires same time but i think it'll get me rolling fast/lol i saw the vid a while back but i went legally blind a spell , very depressing and aging i guess anyway i got projects all over now i can see but i'm out of shape from the ordeal still , it's been awesome though i had faith and learned alot about the temp state but man imagine i'm 40's , 75-80 year olds pull rvs, boats still i felt old a moment /ranting thanks for the vid i'll try to update if it works for me, i think i have to buy two entire coils used to get the boot and maybe i should study aftermarket , it's good to learn to test the coils too (i'd need to look up ...i have a pilot valve driving me nuts , the idle jet breaks and the carbs are as much as a lower mileage motor but with no carb rack or airbox needed for correct performance if i went back from slide valves ......

    I am not sure if it is ok to use this as a permanent fix. I had to do this and it worked well. But don't forget that by shortening your spark plug wire, you will also lower the resistance. A lower resistance means that more current is generated, which in my case seems to have killed my ignition coil.

  • @cld0410
    @cld0410 3 місяці тому

    Any sugggestions for divorcing the crimp from the plug? They’re not rusted or corroded but they are freaking married for eternity haha. I have the spark plug pliers, have tried twisting the wire and the spring coil, I’ve tried turning it in a wide circle, but so far the only way to get it is to eventually tear the rubber part, pull the coil, then pull off the crimp from the plug

    Things are so cheaply made now. I hVe done this far too many times. When it happens I just use it as an excuse to uograde to MSD wires, coil, and maybe ignition box and distributor. But, can get away wifh just wires.
