    Thanks for sharing I’ll be ordering plug wires a little later for my project. I was hoping to see your wheels and tires. I watched some of the videos on your frame notching. Back spacing and tire width. Thanks for sharing!!

      Ya no problem man. My buddy started making vids on his build, mostly cuz you couldn't find parts or info on much of people showing wut or how to do certain things. And that's why I wanted to.

      I thought you had gotten a set of rear wheels and then found out you could use more back spacing? I think I can get a 12” wheel with 6” back space on mine!! Thanks 🙏

      I got a 15x10 with 4.5 backspace before I did notch. Had about a half inch of space. After notch i got jus a little over 1 inch of space now so i could run a 5.5 in backspace if i got another set of wheels. But where the wheel an tire sit now looks like its squared with the rear inner wheel well

      Also where my wheel an tire sit it is flush with the outside quarter panel so it doesn't stick out. I'm gona drop the rear more cuz it sits really hi. Has like a 5 inch gap from tire to quarter panel.

    On my 454, I got a standard set for I think it was an early 70's big block that came with 90 degree boots. Took a bit of digging to find me, but they work with headers.

    Headers are a problem even with engines moving around, I never even thought about burned wires. I like the regular exhaust manifold, there may or may not be any noticeable speed or power to my 68 350 Tempest with headers but I would like to quiet the exhaust more than extra power. Exhaust manifold goes straight into stainless dual exhaust to remove extra problems. I'm just getting 200 dollar pipes that connect the factory exhaust manifolds straight to the new duals, plus I replaced the original air cleaner to lessen the annoying exhaust more too.

    Get the red boots from MSD, they are high performance high heat boots. You probably have enough length to put them on your old ones. My grays burned through as well, this is what I am in the process of doing atm on my car, putting on the red spark boots.. Just a thought, like you said those MSD's are expensive, maybe you could have an extra set this way, that will not cause you the same problems. 90 degre boots PN# 8852, straights PN# 8854 and 115 degre PN# 8853. If these do not work for me I guess I may need to tray those Taylormade like you have. Happy Burnouts and Launches!!!!

    I had Taylor wires and loved them until I had to remove them and half of the ends pulled off.

    I picked a msd hei with taylor wires. I have the same boots but are 90 so some of the plugs lay on the header flange. I was wondering if they will burn or can the taylor boots take heat

    • @mcbluecollarguy2382
      @mcbluecollarguy2382  5 років тому

      They are about the same as the msd super conductor wires. Giving enough time they'll burn thru, but they last longer then alot of others. But i was also using the spark plug heat covers on them all.

      @@mcbluecollarguy2382 ok ill see if these will burn and go from there. I wish they were 135 but they cam with the dizzy.

      Ive watched engine master header challenge where they beat them in an it really doesnt show hp loss when denting in headers for clearance

    If your timing is to far off it could be firing out through exhaust

    what headers (model number ) are you running on your car ?

  • @vrwired
    @vrwired 6 років тому

    You do know the MSD boots are multiangle right? They can be bent so they do not touch the header.

    • @mcbluecollarguy2382
      @mcbluecollarguy2382  6 років тому

      These did not bend.

    • @vrwired

      I just ordered the MSD Multi-angle for my 1999 Suburban K2500 454 with headers. I was burnin up boots left and right. Hopefully the multi-angle function of the MSD boots remedy my situation. I like those Taylors too. If the MSD fails me I am going to go to 135 degree Accel Ceramic Boots. Something has got to work! Misfires all over the place.

      Ya I hear ya man.. I jus had alot of problems with the big headers on the monte because of really tight clearences. I have to bend in the headers a little, or I'm thinking of making my own set of headers

    I've always just run moroso 8mm with 90° boots. There like 40 bucks. And the heat shields to protect the wires I get from amazon 20 bucks for 8. Never have any issues. On my s10 that the po put headers on two are really close actually touching the plug boot so they will burn no matter what I do. For that I found pure ceramic ends there the same thing sinks and toilets are made from. Problem solved you can't burn those things with a touch got them from a website that sells parts for old model A hot rods and such. 12 bucks a piece but worth every penny.

    How did you fit the wires through the narrow boot?

  • @cfmechanic
    @cfmechanic 4 роки тому

    I honestly think those boot covers are a joke. I have used them before and still had it burn thru boot to the wire. You might try to fatten the mixture at idle. I have noticed motor runs a tad cooler on the exhaust tubes.

  • @jeremyfoster9739

    I feel your pain, I been there I use accel 9000 ceramic booted and no more burnt wires

    • @cfmechanic
      @cfmechanic 4 роки тому

      Gotta be careful with those ceramic wires they work great with some plug but will slip off others. Also if box was dropped in transit the ceramic boot can arc directly thru the ceramic

    Can a burnt wire cause your car to turn off

    • @mcbluecollarguy2382
      @mcbluecollarguy2382  3 роки тому +1

    They are 8mm. Accel makes them already on the wire. They are bendable boots. $102.00 -8.5 mm.
