He does the best Walken's impersonation because he doesn't go over the top like most impersonators do. He has the casual Walken down. It seems to me, that most people enjoy the wacky over the top Walken voice more so, which is understandable. Walken is the ultimate impersonation voice in my mind.
Just like Pollak says, "you gotta lean into it."
98% of Walken impersonators are just doing the SNL Blue Oyster Cult cowbell sketch, either literally or as their reference point for how the man speaks. Pollak actually impersonates the man, not the man playing a character in a skit.
Look for “Christopher Walken cooking chicken”, that guy’s the best I’ve seen.

The brilliance of this impression is that he captures not only the voice but the thinking behind it.
It's not só much about the voice, is the fact that he understands Walken's mind process.
One thing about Kevin's imitation is that he doesn't overdue the inflections and pauses. It's almost as if the Christopher Walken impressions have become a speech within themselves with the inflections and pauses that are now recognized as an imitation, so that when you actually hear him it's almost a letdown. Kevin is the best because he keeps it more realistic.
Imagine Christopher Walken talking dirty in bed. I wonder if the girl would be terrified or dying of laughter. I know one thing. When it's done, she won't be Walken. Haha

Love how Kevin pollack touches on Chris walken's tendency for his thoughts to be disconnected, hilarious! Kevin pollack is the ultimate Chris walken immpersonator. Chris is one of my favorite actors and the way Kevin pays homage to him is an intertaining and very funny way!
Kevin is so underrated , would love to see more of him in movies.

I'd say he stays true to what Walken would sound like in a day to day conversation. A lot of other impressionists exaggerate his voice and focus on his more extravagant performances, while Pollak really makes you think this is what he would sound like in person. :)

So strange, he can look like such a regular, friendly and funny guy - and yet in movies like "The Usual Suspects" he looks and sounds terrifying - like a total nutjob sociopath. I guess that shows how incredibly talented he is as an actor!

Its a very, very distinct "voice". Christopher Walken is unlike any other actor I've ever known... He's iconic, no one, NO ONE can replace him.

One of the hardest impressions to pull off well! Most people get the weird grammar pauses but cannot get the actual voice. This is the best over ever heard... well done 👍

GymChess You're right it does not seem this is naturally coming across like a live audience. It's seems prerecorded and inserted.
What I think sets Kevin's impression apart from the rest is the subtle nuances he uses. Most people when doing the impression always seem to do it in an over the top kind of way.
It's amazing because it's subtle, thus accurate. Like, the ACTUAL sound of his voice, like he was really speaking. Not the over-the-top stuff people usually do.
At 1:53 I couldn't even tell whether he was impersonating Walken or not

For me, Kevin's impression is Hilarious! Thinking out loud for a moment...The BEST impressionist mimic 3 key areas doing ANY impression.
#1. Facial expressions #2. Voice #3. Body movements. Kevin nails ALL 3, EVERY time on EVERY impression! Kevin takes each subjects Speech & Movements that we remember most, he then EXAGGERATES how that ACTOR walks, talks, laughs, etc. That's why his Kristopher Walkin impression is so damn good! K.Spacey, in a league of his own! BTW, his career began as a stand up Comedian! His acting started many years later!

this is very very very exceptional. The whole point is it's not exaggerated. If you could not see his face and there were no intro, one would believe this actually is Christopher Walken. if you really want to hear something amazing, Kevin does perhaps the very best Robin Williams ever. I once saw a special where they were saying the exact same thing at the exact same time together and it was the creepiest thing I think I've ever seen :-)

Back in the late 80's I dated a girl from the mid west. I traveled out to LA with her and her parents for a summer vacation. We went to the Improve in Hollywood to see Jay Leno,, and Kevin Pollak was out on the side walk in front of the Improve peddling answering machine tapes that he would record live and he would impersonate your favorite actor. We stood by and watched him do his Walken impersonation and then he did Jim from Taxi and we all busted out laughing.

Spacey's is overacted. This sounds far more natural, like his natural speaking voice.
He's an absolute classic, but he can't go more than 20 seconds without telling you how great he is.

Allot of people are missing out on the important bit, its his demeanor and the persona of Walken that he takes on. Many people would say that its bad because it "doesn't sound like him" I say its the greatest because he acts like him.
That is probably the best I've heard, very smooth. Hopefully I can find that podcast.

I think the opposite is true - Spacey is marvellous too - but he did more facial ticks and mannersisms than was neccessary: _He's craazy that waaay.._ Pollak's impression isn't a caricature - and most people exaggerate the person they're trying to 'do' (as it were) when they do impressions. Oddly enough though, Spacey gave himself funnier lines - which seemed truly ad-libbed (on the Actor's Studio thing) and made the impression more entertaining. You'd expect a bit more from a more conventional comic performer like Pollak, but I do think his impression is more accurate, word for word.
Jay Mohr's is better too. It's the only thing he's good for.
Yeah, Pollak's is actually "rounded down" to give him more credit as a human being.
IsItModern It's supposed to be over the top. The whole idea is to illustrate the absurdity of impressions. Rich Little once did so by performing impressive of Karloff and Lugosi. He used " antipasto ' and ' Palo Alto ' , respectively. But, he included the rythym and delivery of both actors to show that it didn't have to be deadly serious.
There is only one thing in life better than Christopher Walken, and that is Kevin Pollack impersonating Christopher Walken.
