Kelly's experience as a woman and a black woman has extra burdens that most black women can relate to and most (not all) white women can not relate to.. White women have more of a middle ground than black women. Generalizations dilute and disregard experiences that are personal to the individual. There is a clear difference in how white women are treated compared to how black women are treated. Most women has had experiences like Kelly's. Some more than others.

I work at a library and the harassment was so bad in the my first few years that I've resorted to being very clipped and surly to men who look like they're going to chat me up. You know I almost didn’t watch this video, but I’m glad I did. It’s really reassuring to hear the same socially-off interactions happen to other women too. I hate how I don’t respond these inappropriate weirdos irl, the way I do in my head. I’m too busy trying to be nice while they cross my boundaries and social norms!!

The sentiment you’re expressing Kelly: the hypersexualization of Black women. We are either the “mammy character” or these exotic sexual ‘beasts’. It’s very gross, I’ve had something similar happen to me as well when I was a mere 19 and it was jarring. Spent a really long time trying to politely get away without letting this man know where I lived (since he apprehended me as I was walking home)

The other stereotype you’re thinking of is a “jezebel.” We’re either an asexual mammy or a jezebel to them. Ironically, I don’t look like a mammy but I am, indeed, asexual.
