    Hi HTD. Just a suggestion, but you may want to acquire one of those hard plastic paddling pool / sand pit thingies to stand your pool ladder’s external feet in. Fill it with water and anyone getting into the big pool will have their feet washed before they get in and you’ll reduce the amount of grass / debris that you have to scoop out of the pool to keep it clean. Saw this on another YT video and thought it was a great idea 👍🏼

    OMG, you _want_ the kikuyu? That stuff was the _bane_ of my family's lawn when I was growing up. My mum would dig it up by the roots any time she saw it.

    • @HowtoDad
      @HowtoDad  2 роки тому +12

      We live near the beach, very sandy and dry. CLEARLY hard to maintain a good lawn but Kikuyu and Couch strive in these conditions, so I've heard. Talk to me in 12 months and we'll see if my whole lawn is your Mum's dreaded weed grass.

    It'll be the Devil Pool before you know it. We have bore/hard water and it is so hard keeping it from going green. If it rains it turns to a swamp. We have to buy this expensive granular stuff and a hydrochloric acid to keep on top of it.

    We could have a pallet and do moss, clovers, flowering ground covers, etc instead of grass. tall grassy shrubs like pampas instead of box hedges are less maintenance. Best part is that some species will always be more drought and sun tolerant and will not grow as tall as grass. Everyone else but you will have bleached grass in the summer.

    Kikyu grass is really robust once established. Looks like a problem with the initial soil composition maybe? (Assuming you have been watering it and fertilising it sufficiently).
    Should have just bought that rollout carpet lawn.. maybe more expensive initially, but in the long run probably going to pay for itself in terms of time and money saved that has been going into trying to save the current one?

    • @MarcusHawksley
      @MarcusHawksley 2 роки тому

      The nastiness of the chemicals is outweighed by the benefits of the water (as long as you don't go overboard on the dosing)
      A tip from me, use the ready mixed pool tablets rather than playing with all the different bottles and test kits, it is a touch more expensive but I have never had a problem (apart from when I've run out😙) and spend more time enjoying the pool than battling with a chemistry set.

    Those dog rocks couldn't possibly work by altering the water because THE SAME WATER goes into the dog bowls that waters the lawn. It most likely is your pup's urine that's burning the lawn.

      My thoughts were 30 mins to fill up the pool, not assemble! But both are horribly inaccurate. Maybe 30 mins was just to take everything out of the box. 😂😂😂
