Thanks Frank! I live up in Washington and my lawn needs some TLC. I appreciate your video. I like the practical simple steps with inexpensive tools and materials everyone has or can easily acquire.
As someone with a townhouse with a small lawn and backyard this was very helpful. I don't need the large tools to fill in patchy grass. $30 tools are more in line with what I need.
It’s a good tip to add top soil after and not before. I had some erosion and had to add topsoil then grass seed and added EZ hay instead of peat moss. It worked well. Watering is really the key to success
Thanks for your help with that I grew my whole front yard back after I over fertilized my lawn I wanted to remove all of the crabgrass so I went straight to Lowe’s and purchased the same tool and wham bam I have grass
Hey man, just wanna say I love your channel a lot! Your videos are very informative and very relaxing! Great work! Oh, I'm looking forward for an update to your grass patch!
This was a very informative video. I truly appreciate you taking the time in showing up. Will this work if my own is almost orange with some gray spots due to severe sun damage?
My buddy down street out down dirt and grass seed last September his didn t turn out to good think lack of water and it's all shade with alot of tree roots so now reseeding put down minerals ironite mix and scotts starter fertilizer
I came in here because your click bate said reviving dead grass not filling in dead spots . You even showed the big patch of dead grass but didnt work on it. waste of time
I don’t think you paid well attention to what Frank was saying , he said that before the video it was all dead grass and that he had revived it back to live by just adding water , but that it was patchy , so went on to repair those patches , as for the other side that looks dead ,that’s his neighbors yard
Ummm.... that may be greener grass than the other side, but it's not good grass dude. You don't need to water it to green it up before you lay seed. You have to water seed everyday anyway so you can just do it then. Plug aeration is far better if your soil is compacted than just putting some spikes in it. The spike tool is for dethatching. Which is what you did. You don't fertilize your lawn when you seed. You have to wait until the seed has grown to 3", mow it, then mow twice more, a few weeks later, then fertilize. If you're gonna fertilize at the time of seeding make sure the fertilizer is for seeds. Dude, everyone knows that if you don't water your grass it will turn brown. If you water it, it will grow. Basic stuff. You should have gotten rid of your weeds before you seed. They'll suck the nutrients out of the soil that your new grass needs.
You’re right about a few things. Firstly, the tool is called a cultivator and it can be used to loosen the soil. It’s not for dethatching. Also, you’re supposed to seed then fertilize your lawn after loosening the compacted soil. I agree that weeds along with other debris should be removed

My lawn so embarrassing the neighbours have resort-tier lawns and I’m watering a crunchy mess I feel they laugh at me secretly 💀
No we laugh at you openly
LMAO 😂 I feel the same way it is time for a change!!
Lmao same here
Bro i relate to your situation 😭
Bro, ever since you mentioned it, now I feel my neighbors have been faking and laughing at me secretly
We need a second part to see to see the results plz
Thank you. Now I know what to do. Awesome!
I did this same job in my yard. The “weasel” tool works great (physical, yes) makes a huge difference. Overseeded and lawn looks great.

Oh, I'm looking forward for an update to your grass patch!
Can you do this during winter or it’s better to wait when it’s get warmer ?
Yes, thank you, Frank!
You’re saying just by adding water but you did so much more than that.🤷🏾♂️ thank you though. Good stuff.
Great thanks Frank.

Nice, hope all that helps!
Hey can you tell me which spray nozzle are you using in this video to water the grass.
Thank you sir 😊
Thank you
What type grass seeds do you buy? Love this.
Quick question, aren't we supposed to avoid adding grass seeds and lawn fertilizer at the same time?
That's what I thought too
Is there any reason why you wouldn't use a dispatcher on some of those bigger areas of dead grass?
Great video. Did you post the second?
Nice Vid mate, Hi from England
Thanks for the video most of our yards down here in San Antonio aren’t doing very good due to summer heat and a drought
Yup mine looks like 💩
The world is made up of 75% water. CLimAtE cHAngE. Water your dam grass and stop crying
Do I need to rake the dead grass first?
Thank you for your video
Beautiful. Thank you 👍
No seeds for st Augustine grass. I was told to replace with fresh sods. Any alternative would be greatly appreciated
Did you upload the result? I’m not finding it
Nice
How to did you fix the brown grass?
Wow what a revelation watering the grass to keep it green wow I would have never thought of doing that thanks my friend😅
Did you do that in the middle of summer or in the fall?
I did this is in the month of October so early Fall.
@@frankshandymanservice can we do this now in July?
It happened because the tree is providing shade that’s why part is green and the other is not dead it’s actually dormant
Where is the update please!!
You are seeding the lawn..mine is already seeded from last year and dying.
derma roller for grass
What type of grass? Need to change video title.

You just saved me some money. Lawn in terrible shape. Just power raked and aerated. Was gonna seed and fertilize today. Now imma just seed and water.
Then make your own video right? Correct the dude
It didn’t help that the big tree was there because it robbed grass of it nutrients 🤔
Very unlikely as the root system for the tree is located feet below the top soil. The root system for the grass doesn’t go anywhere near that far down
