  • Welcome to Wonderhussy Adventure #604
    Date of adventure: 1/27/22
    Poking around a remote, hidden valley on the Nevada/California state line that's full of unexpected delights. Unusually for a Nevada bordertown, there's no casino -- but there IS a fly-in neighborhood, a decommissioned Disney World monorail...and an old nudist colony for sale!
    Check out the nudist resort here:

    In the year 2000, I was in charge of taking the census in Sandy Valley. The government workers warned me that it was an antigovernment town. I loved places that were difficult for them, so I was thrilled to go. I was also in charge of training new workers. This one morning I was training an Asian girl who seemed pretty shy. I will never forget we approached an older lady who was standing behind her wooden fence. She had the most beautiful large hat on but that's all I could see. She was lovely and told us to come into her kitchen. She opened the gate and turned around quickly. I went first. My trainee followed me. The second this lady started walking I realized she was 100% naked. I couldn't say anything to the new girl. We made it to her trailer when she opened the front door. She was a newspaper hoarder. We had one path to follow to get to the kitchen. On each side of the path there was a steady 4 foot wall of newspapers. We made it to her kitchen. When we finally sat down my newbie suddenly realized that this lady was naked. I thought her eyes were going to pop out of her head. Somehow we kept it together and the interview was a joy. That lady was super cool. Still, the second we were far enough away, we burst out laughing. For the first day, that gal did fantastic. To lovely naked lady, you go girl.

      Now THAT, is a Cool story. Probably the safest people on earth are those with no clothes on, weather permitting. Me, I would always be wearing a Firearm none the less. (that would shock the sheet out of just about anyone)☺️😁👊😎🙂👏👏👏👏👏

      @@ellejane7910 Hello Elle Jane It is a quiet community of mostly older pilots. Most are general aviation pilots but there are are number commercial and ATPs. It is a private airport with public use. You can usually find some of the guys drinking coffee between 7:30 and 9:00 at the big hanger (FBO). Fly in and see us some time!

    Love your sense of humor! What an incredible moderator! I was a realtor in Las Vegas for 20 years from 1990 to 2010. Met a gentleman named Doc who owned a mansion in Sandi Valley. What a character and I explored Sandi Valley through him. We also published a real estate pictorial magazine.

    I live in the Arkansas Ozarks. For the life of me I have never understood the cutesy paranoia that some rural residents possess. I've seen shabby trailers on a half-acre of land with 10 'no trespassing' signs and purple paint on everything that doesn't have hooves.

    This was a cool video! I especially liked the Sky Ranch airport where people can taxi in and park their airplanes at their house. I reminds me of Felts Field here in Spokane , Wa. Originally the person that built the airport and runways had the streets plotted out so people could taxi off the runways and to their own driveway and hangers beside their houses. It was built back in the late 1930s or early 1940s. The guy thought everyone would be flying their own planes and driving cars would become a thing of the past. Neat someone else had a similar idea in Sandy Valley. Well take care and you keep finding interesting places to visit! Appreciate getting to see your adventures. 😎

    About 30 years ago I took a half acre at Sky Ranch in trade for an old Caddy convertible. A friend and I went out there one weekend for a home owners meeting. We were hanging out in that big hangar waiting for the meeting to start when a loud aircraft buzzed the building, about 10 of us went outside to see what was causing the commotion, it was one of the home owners flying his P51 Mustang! About an hour later a helicopter from Circus Circus lands with some famous soldier of fortune who owned property there.

      @weedfreer 2 роки тому

      when you say 'soldier of fortune'...what do you mean?
      Apologies, it's not a phrase I've come across before (in context at least) other than when it was used to describe the 'A-Team' who, as you know, were a band of brothers bound together as a result of being set up as the fall-guys having been high ranking members of the military sent out on a mission that went wrong.needing to turn a quick buck or two to get by (often settling only for a free bed and a meal).
      Used in this context however, I'd be unsure as to what was meant.

    I love Google Earth. I looked up Sandy Valley and got a good lay of the land. Cameron Park airport in Eldorado county, Ca. has a fly in Airport with Hangers attached to the homes. 13 Miles west of Placerville on Hwy 50.

    Monorail car listed on eBay in 2015. Asking price roughly $250,000. 🙂 Great video, thanks from cold wintry UK.

    Thanks for another Great Vid tour. Love Sandy Valley. Been looking at RE there. You need to check out the unique house in Sky Ranch Airport Community NorthWest corner.

    Thank you for this video, The Sun club you are talking about is called the Las Vegas Sun Club and was registered nationally and certified. My second mom owns the property next door which you are standing in front of doing this video. My Mom and dad lived there..It is one of my favourite places on earth. The sunsets are most amzing. Being away from city lights the sky is so clear. the starry nights are awesome. I did a lot of porch sitting enjoying its beauty. East of downtown Sandy Valley toward Good springs is the mountain that Carol lombard had a plane crash. she was Clark Gables wife. also one landmark I wanna mention is the tumbleweed inn the local bar. The people of Sandy valley a far from any anti-government they are some of the friendlest people I've ever met. They are all friendly. thank again for the great memories Tom Crosby YQR Regina Canada

    Hey Sarah, looks like a Geodisic dome, but might be a Radar ball. Which would be the reason for the signs...
