As someone who has dealt with depression her whole life, I'm not sure there's anything anyone could have done to help Chester through his pain. You just can't explain that turmoil in words. I'm sure that to Chester, the words to these lyrics still didn't feel like they encompassed what he contended with. And I'm sure when he tried, he was just as frustrated as anyone else that nothing fixed things for good.
You're not alone in hearing this song, and feeling this urge to just hug Chester. I feel that too. This song, Chester's performance in it, and the context we receive it in, it's all so vulnerable and intimate and painful. It honestly hurts, sitting helplessly with that compassion and love, and feeling the loss. It's a feeling I hope I can transform into action when my family and friends need support; sometimes it's inconvenient, sometimes it seems to go on, but I'm so, so blessed that they are there for me to help. If you ever feel like a burden to your loved ones, remember you can't possibly imagine how heavy your ghost would be ❤
I saw the last show for the Meteora World Tour in 2004, in São Paulo. It was an unbelievable night. Thank you for this reaction and for being vulnerable to your emotions. Lots of hugs and love. ❤

I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Linkin Park live about 20 years ago now and it is an experience I will never forget. This is a beautiful song. I totally relate to your feelings on this one. I was not expecting hearing Chester's voice singing something totally new to be so visceral and emotional. Not ashamed to say I cried while watching this with you xx

You are so blessed. They are my absolute favorite band, and would give almost anything to see them just once. Unfortunately, I was a teenager without much money at the time and thought I'd have another chance to see the. I'll never forgive myself for making that mistake. Still glad you got to see them! 😅

This is a 20 year old song that was released for Meteora's 20th anniversary boxset coming out
I don't know how you'd mistake this for Hybrid Theory era. That album was more stripped down and guitar driven. This would've been a Meteora ballad and could've easily been on Living Things, their 5th album.
Both came out when I was quite young so I got both cds for the same bithday when Meteora came out and experienced the 2 at the same time haha so they kinds blend together for me lol
It was suposed to be on the meteora album but they found it to be too similar to numb so the shelved it.
Haven't you listened to the 2 albums ("Amends" and "The Phoenix") Chester's band Grey Daze released after Chesters death? They are fantastic! Grey Daze is Chester's original band. They were post-grunge. The band with Chester had plans to revive their old material and rerecord Chester's vocals 2017, but then he passed. They decided to continue the project and remastered the original vocals of Chester and the instrumental tracks are reimaginations of the original songs. Very different from the original post-grunge style, but beautiful and really awesome! Please check them out, you won't regret it

As someone who has struggled with depression for over 25 years, and who has dealt with a similar situation to Chester’s (iykyk), it never leaves your head. Never. I’m working with my counselor on healing the past. Anyway, thank you so much for this reaction! I never thought I’d get to hear him again and now this is one of my favorite songs of theirs! ❤
It took me several days after release before I could listen to this- I was lucky enough to see LP at the O2 in London and it was genuinely one of the best, highest amazing energy shows I've been to (and I'm grunge generation so I've been to a lot of good shows) thanks for doing this one ... and as I'm also a HomeFry I'm now subscribed.

I wonder if his wife had a clue to his mental health crisis I don't understand if any thing he had the love of his wife 6 children, I fought depression myself in hard times I think of my kids and they were. Driving force to push on! I wish he would have wanted to stay here on earth for his babies who loved him so much!
