The amount of work as a sound engineer & mixer that Mike Shinoda put in is so understated, and the fact he doesn't tout it like, at all, shows the humility of this man. Literally he made that band, he shaped & molded Chester, and was the glue of the band all along.

It's so heartwarming to see any of them together. One of the reasons I love these guys so much is because they're so humble and down to earth. 44:31 I really feel what Brad is saying. After Chester died, it was really hard for me to listen to LP again, though I still listened to A Thousand Suns whenever I was traveling. It's always been my travel/flight album. Ive been listening to LP a lot lately and this 20th anniversary boxset couldn't have come at a better time. RIP Chester. Gone but not forgotten.
honestly I'm still unable to listen to them, tho i miss their music so so much and i loved going back to watch their videos but still i can't bring myself to do it again
@@GGG_3 I hope you find the strength to do so one day, but I understand if not. Everyone grieves differently and although I never met Chester, I very much still grieve for him. Linkin Park has been my favorite band since I was 10 in 2001. After Chester died it took me a while to be able to listen to their music again, but now when I listen I feel like it's a celebration of Chester's life and a way to honor him. I'm glad that his music lives on and always will.
I agree. I've actually just recently started listening to Linkin Park again. At the time losing Chester was too much, was painful especially since I grew up listening to these dudes. Helped me in my dark moments, but it hurt because it was all over. It hurt because the thing that had used to help take the pain away was now a source of pain. Still feel the occasional nostalgic pain but definitely able to listen to them again, and it feels good to not only to have the rest of the band but the fans and a new release with ya. I can definitely say I am happy to have been alive during this group's time in the sun.
It took me a few years as well. My first album was actually Live In Texas, which I would sing my heart out with my cousin who lived a block away from me. This band is the very first reason I'm a musician. It wasn't until a few months ago, I talked to a friend on a podcast he has (that I used to edit) and I mentioned it, and then he asked me to run down the album sometime on the future. I did it a few weeks ago and though the audio was obviously edited the experience for me was filled with tears and laughs and sadness and joy. Quite a rollercoaster. After that, it was kind of opening this old box and putting things on display again, this time on the living room, with pride.
Seems like they're having a breath on their lifes and now they're looking to their past with so much more grateful eyes. Not that they weren't grateful, but they lived 20 years of being deep working on music and touring nonstop. Now with the "normal life" hitting them for more than 5 years now, they can look back and appreciate everything awesome that happened in their lifes. I love this new nostalgic vibes they seem to be living. The opposite of taking for granted all they had the chance to be a part of.
That story about Chester was so touching. Really admire the brotherhood shared by these guys. You don't normally see bands that go through such a dizzying period of stardom and remain together at the end of it. Linkin Park survived and i think that is a big credit to the six of them.
41:51 This is why Lost hit so hard. It took many of us back to the older albums and the things we were experiencing while listening to these songs. I was happy to hear the song but it also brought me major sadness. Still I am very happy that they decided to release 2 songs. Love LINKIN Park and I hope they can come back and create more music together.
The full 20th anniversary edition is like a blast from the past. What is it, around 9 or 10 new songs?!?! A6, Standing in the Middle, Lost, Fighting Myself, More The Victim, Massive, Healing Foot, and more?!?!?! I have literally been crying nostalgic tears for 48 hours 😭😭😭😭😭
LP saved me and since Chester's passing all I did was cry. I painted his portrait as that's what my art is all about, my experiences and Chester and LP has been a huge part in my life. A couple of weeks ago Blackbear purchased my Chester portrait and this gave me a new page in my LP book, so to speak. This album has come at the perfect time in my life and I'm so grateful for these guys that have all been part of my life ❤❤
Linkin park was like n older brother to me thru my childhood. Wouldn't be able to grasp what my life would be like if they didn't happen at the perfect time.
This is curing childhood trauma right now. I'm so glad to hear so many things about the band that we didn't know. I could never understand these guys' grinding to get where they are. All in all, it's safe to say that obviously, it was all worth it. Can never forget this band.
The moment I heard about Chester’s death, I stopped listening to LP until recently. I just now started revisiting all their albums. I couldn’t listen to his voice and lyrics, because they turned into thorns. I couldn’t listen to Chester’s pain because I started realizing he was really hurting and I couldn’t relive his pain over and over. But now so much time has passed and I can listen to these songs and lyrics again and they don’t hurt as much as they did when he passed. I just got older and accepted the loss of my favorite musician and person in the show biz. I didn’t know him in person but felt like I knew him through his performances, interviews, behind the scenes and the band’s stories about him. The more I listen to their songs and watch interviews with Chester the more I feel like his is still around. My mind is playing tricks on me but I will never let him go ❤ By the way, not even one celebrity death affected me like Chester’s death did. It’s insane!
I love this band because they give a peek behind the curtain, and they are all so open about the process, including studio interference. If they weren't as strong as they were, that interference could've destroyed this group.
This just came up in my recommendations after binge-watching lots of LP concerts and I have to say, Zane Lowe did an incredible job. This is an example of a genuine, kind and really sweet guy with such a nice approach.
Not gonna lie, it was so nice seeing Brad and Phoenix again, as well as Mike. I hope Joe and Rob are doing well, and this is probably one of few interviews that I actually sat down and watched. This album was my favorite back in high school, and I'm still listening to it at 33. I'm glad we also got to hear little stories about Chester too. Thank you LP for everything, and I'll forever be a fan
Linkin Park is the first metal band that I heard.... from the beginning until now the songs are still hits.. I really idolize Linkin park.... always and forever.... Chester Bennington is my idol
Knowing Mike said the 5 of them are working on music together again (no planned soon releases though) and the fact that they feel like Lost and this sound is still so relevant today and they are loving rediscovering these songs makes me hope, that while unlikely, we will see them try to be creative with this sound and instead of reinventing the band again, we will get one album first (or later) of them reinventing this sound and pushing the blueprint even further than they did with Meteora
Thank you for the interview. The band will always rock. True LP fan. I loved the stories about the album. My favorite part of this interview is at 25:37 that got me emotional was the story about the Record Label trying to steal Chester away from the band and Chester telling them to "Go F*** yourself". That was the best and saddest thing I heard in a long time. That's what true friends do. Stick up for your friends and I'm glad each of you had each other's backs.
I love how every label was passing on them like, “You’re not good enough,” Hybrid Theory explodes, then some people in the public are like, “you’re too good.” 1999 - 2002 must’ve been weird AF for these guys. What a whirlwind 😵💫 EDIT: And I love how Zane commented on the riffs being emotional. That’s such a HUGE component of what makes an LP riff an LP riff.
Linkin Park is a band that has had a big influence on my life. I met so many friends through their music, and will always be grateful for all that they have done for me.
What do I love? Linkin Park. Incredible band and will always be one of my favorites. What do I not love? This interviewer. Stop interrupting and let these guys talk. He asks a question, and before they can even finish, he is already injecting something.
As much as I would love for Chester to still be alive and doing interviews along with the rest of the band, the fact that he's dead now makes me appreciate theae interviews if the rest of the band more. RIP CHESTER. You are still and will always be missed.
I don't think he does that at all. Sometimes he interrupts a bit yes, but i feel like you can really get into Mike's mind especially here. A lot of interviews are rushed and spoken over, this is really chill.
finally a comment I can hop on. I came from the latest interview about their comeback and recognized his interrupting and opinion/feeling expressions that at least I am not interested in... I want to hear the emotions directly from Brad, Mike and Dave. I dislike how he craves for speaking time. An interviewer should ask questions, show empathy etc. but to me he is overshooting.
I remember when I first saw One Step Closer, I was like "pffttt, who are these posers with red hair and hanging up side down". Then some time went by - and I didn't have a radio or anything back then, the school bus didn't have a radio - so my first listen was always through the music videos. One day, a song comes on within like 15 seconds there's this sound break that was an incredible sound that till this day I don't know what it is except that it might be from the guitar, and then BOOM! the chorus hits and they're all in like this bullet time (which was all the hype back then) sort of movement which goes with the chorus' rhythm. It truly awakened something inside of me musically. Even though I was already listening to Slipknot the prior year and grew up on Michael Jackson, I truly fell in love with music and became a rocker after Crawling.
I LOVED THIS INTERVIEW!!! The honest "thank you" at the end...I totally felt it. As a fan, I wanna say "thank you" too. Linkin Park has saved my life so many times.
I absolutely love this band. Every member. Every chord. Every song for one reason or another. They're immortal by their talent and how unique their sound is. Hearing "new" songs off of the remaster is amazing. Long live LP!
So great to see the band back together. They will always be my number one band even if they dont make more music or albums.Their music is fire. Truly legendary band
It really got emotional for me towards the end when Zane talked about the loss of Chester. I can't believe so many years have gone by already, and knowing we will never get to see them perform live with Chester ever again.. 💔
My first memory of Linkin Park was watching a TV ad promoting Hybrid Theory with Chester screaming at the camera singing Crawling.. I was out of my mind. After that I had a mixed relationship with their music with love and hate at the same time, but always I respect them musically no matter what. Times passes by little while and I became super fan finally in the process. I just understand his movement after all I must say. Meteora is a great album work too and I'm so glad hearing those stories of Chester watching the back of the band when people was so bad with the rest of them at that time. LP 4ever.
This needs to be so much longer...I miss you guys, you were the first band that was mine, only band I ever was in the fanclub for, saw you in 2004 During the Summer Sanitarium tour. My father and Chester left the same way..Linkin Park is not a thing taking space in my heart...it is the background music for my soul. Thank you.
The fact that they forgot they made Lost is just hilarious. Glad they found it and it actually felt bizarre listening to it now. It's new yet old at the same time.
I named my ChesterB because your music helped me through a really tough time in my life, and it just felt so right at the time. Chester had just passed, and it was my way of thank you, guys, and remembering Chester. Thank you guys so much! R.I.P Chester
This interview was so great that I thought I was sitting down in the same room with everyone. I had to pinch myself. Amazing work everyone. Thank you for everyone's continued efforts in making us fans feel loved, welcomed and appreciated.
Zane Lowe best interview ever. Saying it that way is how a lot of fans would say it. Your right we all have soo many questions "but it is none of our business."
Phenomenal interview. I think this was a great balance of talking about the album, which is obviously the hot ticket item, and remembering Chester and what he gave to so many of us. I have struggled with his passing more than I would probably admit. Having this moment in time where we’re all re-listening to these songs together and these “new, old, new” songs…it’s just such a beautiful, cathartic, uplifting thing. Thank you Zane and thank you LP as always. Much love!
This interview is so awesome. More than 40 mins of length allows deep conversation to happen, and the host did an amazing job leading both direction and rhythm of the conversation.
How can it be that someone i didn't meet, know or talk to could have such an impact on my life and soul. I'm in my 50's and love LP from the beginning. Chester touched millions of people in the world, yet left us all way to early. I miss him everyday, i wished that I or someone could of helped him in his dark moments and stopped him from leaving all his family and LP soldiers who adored him.
Brad aged so well, so did Mike and Dave. Soooo lovely to see them together honestly.. Part of my life right there. I haven't seen Rob in a while or Hann, miss them all.
Chester was a great performer and had a great voice. Certain parts of songs were heavy and he gave it his all, same with slow ones that required finesse and feeling, he could do that too, he played his part brilliantly. I think Crawling was the song that shot you to the masses. A thousand suns is still way ahead of its time, its a beautiful story, with a powerful message and music you can dream too. I loved the tour of that album watching the videos on stage accompanying your live performance.
3 Legends together. it is so good to watch this interview. I've known Linkin Park since 2004, My friend Kaka played a song which was "from the inside" and this one is still my most favorite song. thank you Zane Lowe for the session. You see how they are experiencing things and want to know how they are doing and dealing. We love you guys. Hope you all come out with something post Chester because we miss you. ❤

It's just been radio silence from him for so long since Chester's passing that I wonder if either A) Linkin Park was just a job for him or B) Chester's passing was so tough for him that he doesn't want to participate in Linkin Park anymore.
@@drewneathway1482 or he got back into addiction
@@metalmike6668 was Rob addicted to something? I was unaware of this, what's he addicted to? Not saying this in a passive aggressive sense, genuinely asking

It's so good to see Brad and Dave again
This interview was like… the therapy session I didn’t know I needed. Zane’s genuine approach felt so good. And beautiful. The more time passes, the more I’m grateful for everything Linkin Park is. ❤️
I felt the same way, but didn't know quite how to put it into words. So thank you for this comment :)
LP ultimately decided to leave the song off the album, then FORGOT they made it, and now to have rediscovered it and release it is SUCH a gift.
Gone but not forgotten.
after listening to them the whole adolescense, I couldnt listen to the band for at least four years after it happend. it got easier now.
honestly I'm still unable to listen to them, tho i miss their music so so much and i loved going back to watch their videos but still i can't bring myself to do it again
So great to see them back together again. 🥹
I just introduced my 7 year old daughter to Linkin Park. And i will continue to do so with my grandchildren one day.
Thank you guys for everything ❤❤❤
Same my 8 year old daughter is now a huge fan! But I had to break to her that sadly Chester passed away, she was gutted
I introduced LINKIN PARK to my 11 yr old 5 year old and 7 year old. I love them! ❤
I'm so happy to see Brad. I missed him.
Linkin Park was one of the first and only bands growing up where I knew EVERY single member's names.
Love to see Brad, Mike and Phoenix together! Wish Joe and Rob was there too
Me too
Apparently Rob is extremely anti social and idk about Joe
Joes made some appearances!
@@nikkione9901yeah, he's avoided the camera since 2017.
I wish Chester was there too 🥹
So are we all in agreement that Mike has clearly found the fountain of youth, dude hasn't aged a day.
They released a lot more than 2 😂🤣 check their UA-cam
The full 20th anniversary edition is like a blast from the past. What is it, around 9 or 10 new songs?!?! A6, Standing in the Middle, Lost, Fighting Myself, More The Victim, Massive, Healing Foot, and more?!?!?! I have literally been crying nostalgic tears for 48 hours 😭😭😭😭😭
@@lawnraccoon1022 and there is still so much more they are holding back for future anniversaries and that's just talking Hybrid Theory and Meteora
@@lawnraccoon1022 exactly same here.
It’s so timeless, yeah.
This album has come at the perfect time in my life and I'm so grateful for these guys that have all been part of my life ❤❤
For being one of the most successful bands of the 21st century, they are still so down to earth and humble
Best rock band in 21 century
Not only in 21th century...One of the best bands of all time, personally my favourite band of all time.
So nice to see the band laughing again after everything.
We need to protect these guys at all cost. They are the souls of LINKIN PARK.
Zane's last 2 minutes on this interview are a touch of class and sheer perfection. Truly felt represented as a fan
This just came up in my recommendations after binge-watching lots of LP concerts and I have to say, Zane Lowe did an incredible job. This is an example of a genuine, kind and really sweet guy with such a nice approach.
I love Chester❤❤❤❤.
My son introduced me to linkin park in 2002 I have been a fan ever since and always will be my grandson is named after Chester and Mike.
What sucks is we’re all deprived of hearing these guys play music together!
What Zane said “thank you”
RIP Chester 🙏🏻❤️
Linkin Park is the first metal band that I heard.... from the beginning until now the songs are still hits.. I really idolize Linkin park.... always and forever.... Chester Bennington is my idol
Not really a metal but yeah
LP is proof destiny is real and that accidents are not really accidents, good or bad they are still density
Is good to see the band back. If only chester was here.
Seeing Brad and Phoenix is amazing. I hope they’re doing well.
What a whirlwind 😵💫
EDIT: And I love how Zane commented on the riffs being emotional.
That’s such a HUGE component of what makes an LP riff an LP riff.
Fantastic interview. Such a class guy and of course legendary band.
You are missed Chester
My favourite part of the interview is how Zane interrupts and talks over them every single time they speak.
Good to see Brad and Phoenix again
Can you imagine being in Chester's shoes and have a label have the audacity to try and get in-between you and your band members
I see it differently. Remember that Chester had a band. Had music contract with Warner before LP
The last few grateful statements they gave each other 😭 I teared up, thank you for this incredible video❤️
Glad to see the guys together. It's unfortunate Joe and Rob weren't there.
LP 4ever.
Thank you Mike, Brad, Joe, Dave, Rob and Chester for these timeless pieces of art. You all are beautiful human beings. I love you all.
This interviewer. Kept interrupting every 4 sentences.
Man what I would do to actually be in that room, experiencing greatness! That was a fantastic interview!! 🙏❤
Lost gave me the hardest flashback I ever had in my life. In a good and bad way at the same time. 😅 Thanks for releasing this song!
Haven’t seen Brad in a long time like this.
It's great to see Brad being this social, havent seen anything to him after their last concert
Zane Lowe best interview ever. Saying it that way is how a lot of fans would say it. Your right we all have soo many questions "but it is none of our business."
I literally remember picking up Meteora on release day as a 12 y/o mega fan in the UK. Was so hyped.
Amazing interview!!! I love that Zane said everything I'm sure all of us fans wanted to tell them there at the end of the interview 🥺❤
I thought the exact same thing! 😢❤
Yes!!
Brad aged so well, so did Mike and Dave. Soooo lovely to see them together honestly.. Part of my life right there. I haven't seen Rob in a while or Hann, miss them all.
This band is just sooo wholesome, I love them 💙
Chester was a great performer and had a great voice.
Chester you're so special and i will always miss you for saving me when i was unable to help myself as i was so heartbroken. I thank God for giving me this opportunity to share this special moment with ya'll. Linkin Park #1 ❤💯💥💎
i miss Mr. Hahn, and Rob
Aaaaah.... Finally we see BBB again!
But where is Rob😢😢
wow before watching this I'm seeing ppl in the comments talking about Zanes connection with them, this man is a legend I've gained so much more respect for him about this interview
26:06 Chester was the best even though he didnt even know Mike, Brad etc, he didnt let them down.
He will forever be the best Singer.
Man when Mike said thank you for putting it like that and saying it that way. When he knew a lot of the questions he really wanted to ask weren't his Business but we as fans feel like family you check in on family. You see how they are experiencing things and want to know how they are doing and dealing. We love you guys. Hope you all come out with something post Chester because we miss you. ❤
It's really great to see Brad, and hear his thoughts on the their Legacy. We need more Brad Delson content.
Those ending comments made me cry. Thank you for this interview. Thank you for everything.
This is insane to me! Chester is my idol, He idolised Dapech Mode, and my Mum dated the lead singer of Dapech Mode in school growing up. What a circle of influence!!
there's a whole greatness and effort behind being a timeless band and artists that's why not everyone artist makes it for a long time even when they get that insane amount of sudden fame, it's just so refreshing to hear about the process and the true meaning of believe in yourself and your craft and fighting for it, very inspiring
I was nervous clicking on this interview but I'm so glad I watched it. It was so wonderful! It's great to see Brad, Mike and Phoenix together. I can't wait to see Rob and Joe with them in the future!
What a way to wrap it, thank you for saying the right words to these guys on behalf of most of us fans.
