Thank you. I've been able to get some gardening done these last few days because it's been dry. Can't imagine what it must be like gardening in your heat. 😀
@@thedown-to-earthgardener it’s been a brutal summer here with heat and drought, but I’m happy to report, we have finally started to get some rain. 🌧️😀🌱
I love white gardens. I have one but mine is in a sunny spot . I am going to add raised beds to my patio area which is in the shade. I already have ferns and hostas in pots there, down one side, so thought putting a raised bed down the other side, would work well. A nice calm, cool spot to eat out on hot sunny days. Thank you for giving me ideas on plants to grow/buy. Happy gardening 🙂
Hi there. That must be quite a challenge gardening with such a limited pallet in a sunny spot. You're patio area sounds great as a dining area. I too much prefer eating in a shady spot rather than full sun. I'm sure you'll make it lovely. Acers do very well in my shady courtyard area and they add so much interest as the seasons change. Might be a nice addition to your shady area. 😊
@@thedown-to-earthgardener I have Acers in there already- was just mentioning the'white' flowered/silver foliage plants in my comment as they seemed most relevant 🙂. I haven't found it at all difficult to find white flowers/silver or cream green foliage plants to plant in my sunny garden. Many flowering plants that prefer sunshine come in white or only white. I have variegated Iris, leucanthemum, delphiniums, dianthus, armeria, mallow, lupins, philadelphus, roses, echinops, geranium, phlox, aquilegis, verbascom, veronica, day lily, foxgloves, orlaya, liatris, gladiola etc etc . I o struggle more with lovely plants for shade with beautiful flowers. I love the hydrangeas and Hostas though, offset by the green and silver tones of various ferns. Happy gardening 🙂
Hello Diane, I was so pleased to watch your white garden tour. The garden is beautiful and the flowers really sing out against the black fence. I’ve never grown ammi but will definitely be giving it a go next year. Thanks for inspiring me and I hope you have a lovely weekend xx
Hi Jennifer. Yes, thank you, I'm having a lovely weekend. Hope you are too. So pleased you like the Ammi. It's just getting bigger and better every day. I would sow your seed this autumn and over-winter for next year if you have space. 😀
Hi. I think about you and there you are 🦋 The White Garden looks so pretty. The Argentine Forgetmenot adds a lot I have watched all of your videos and enjoyed them all After my post months ago. I wasn’t feeling good starting the first of April. For about 6 weeks. Then am slowly feeling better. We have temperatures in the 90s. It was 104 give or take for a while. Some things just need cutting back. Leaves were crispy they only had dappled in early morning and more til about 1:00 pm We are in low 90s and even in the 80s. I just wanted to say hi to you and Shirley. Karan
Hi Karan. I'm so sorry to hear that you've been unwell. We hope that you're feeling better now. Can't imagine what it must be like trying to garden in those temperatures! I'm wilting at the thought. Take care of yourself and don't do too much all at once. Remember, the plants never judge us if we don't tend them😀.
The white garden looks amazing Diane! The ami looks wonderful against the black fence - you must be really thrilled with it after all your hard work and planning 😊
The white garden is so lovely and calming. I'd start every day there with a cup of coffee. I've grown Daucus Dara with the shades of cream, mauve and burgundy, but the white lacy Ammi Majus is a stunner!
Hi Mary. Just looked that plant up and it's so pretty. I think I'll get some for the main garden next year. Thanks for the tip. Hope you're having a lovely weekend. 😀
you do have a beautiful garden. I'm in the middle of creating a new boarder so I think I'll use some of your ideas please. what was the upright annual called? I didn't catch it. I have just bought a lovely perennial, it's a white meadow rue called Thalictrum delavayi splendide white, I think you'd like that one. take care x❤
Hello Hazel and thank you. The plant is called Ammi Majus and I grow it from seed every year. I start it off in the autumn and over-winter so that it has a head start in the spring. I have that Thalictrum! I've had it for years and it is so dependable and very low maintenance. It stands up to all our wind and rain and I've never had to stake it. Good choice. Have fun with your new border! 😀
Beautiful white flowers and so cheerful ❤ I tried to take videos at night, but the camera keeps adjusting it making it look like daylight. It gets dark at 9pm here. Your footage is beautiful. Love the white forget me not. And the container plants ❤️❤️❤️ beautiful share.
Thank you Susie. Yes, I was expecting the footage to come out too dark and was really surprised when it looked as though it was early evening. I really haven't managed to capture just how that garden glows in the fading light. Hope you're having a lovely weekend. Diane x
Hi there. I sow the seed in the autumn in trays in the greenhouse, but anywhere indoors would do. When it's big enough I prick out into 9cm pots and then It grows to about two to three inches by November and then just stops growing. I overwinter it and then pop it out into the cold frames early spring. Hardening off is really important to build a strong root ball as the plant is obviously so tall. Just looking around my garden, the Ammi in the white garden is by far the tallest and strongest growing in very free draining soil and full sun. In the shade it still grows tall but flops because the stems aren't as thick. I'll film some footage for you of Ammi in the shade next week when I do a garden tour. Hope this helps. Diane 😀
So many beautiful white plants Diane but I particularly love the white Forget Me Nots, Achillea and the Ammi majus. I'm so glad that I sowed the seeds for the latter after watching your videos. I'll definitely be growing that again next year. I wonder why only one out of the three Alliums came up as it seems strange that it happened in all the sections. Gardening often throws up these anomalies. Where did that word come from? Sounds like I swallowed the dictionary!
Hi Wendy. I'll have a look at the bulbs when I tidy in the autumn to see what went wrong. So pleased that you're enjoying the Ammi. It really does add so much to the borders. Hope you're keeping well and enjoying some good weather. Diane x
It is testament to your skill and dedication, you've nailed the white garden. It is beautiful and bet it looks great in moonlight. The ami major looks a very healthy specimen, I did try it a couple of years ago but it was ravaged by slugs. I could not commit to a totally white colour scheme, as I love💜 the pink and lavender colour ranges so much, Verbena Banariensis, popping up everywhere. Thank you for sharing your garden Diane.🐞🌻🌱
It looks so beautiful! The Ami majus is a showstopper! I love the silver foliage mixed in, too. The white garden feels so serene, well done! 🌿🌿🌿😀🌿🌿

I agree, that Ammi is the star. Great to have a white garden! Love the Agentine forget-me-not, keen to give that a go.
Hi there. Yes, I'll definitely be getting more of the forget-me-not seeds for next year. Hope you're enjoying the lovely weather!
@@thedown-to-earthgardener Can you save some from the flowers you have maybe? Sun has only just arrived here, just about to head out with my trowel!
Beautiful garden!
Thank you Ann. Glad you enjoyed 😊
