Came into this hobby by accident recently, now I’m hooked, I’ve bought everything needed for a high tech 90L tank set up, I’ve binge watched your videos, learnt so much in so little time, thank you so much, amazing work, you’ve inspired me to make a jungle style aquascape,, wish me luck 😊
I'm also still having wads of brown algae in my Juwel, set up about just over a month ago. The algae really took off in the first week of September when it got really warm. My apartment still gets warm despite the new windows and ventilation. Just put in a couple of Amano shrimp but might get some more. They are so very active and great gardeners! I know they don't actually fit in a South American set up, but they are so quite useful!
Nice setup! Really colourful Apistogrammas as well. I have a soft spot for "Hockeysticks" since they accidentally had some offspring in my first bigger tank, some 30 odd years ago. Together with the paludarium it's indeed a very nice corner of the room. 👍
My first aquarium was believe it or not 450l planted tank. I had it 16-17 years ago and I had one giant Echinodorus inside. It was amazing to see one plant taking over one third of 150cm long tank. Diy substrate and no co2 and echinodoruses and crypts were growing like crazy.
Really nice scape man :) The style in the aquarium reminded me a little bit of the salt water kelp forests , with all those long and beautiful plants 😊 Really Really nice 👍
It looks fantastic! I love how all the plants were pearling. I keep thinking my planted tank needs one more kind of plant to fill it out and make it look more natural. I should look at the varieties of Echinodorus and see if one of them will fit.
The tank looks great! Do you ever have issues bringing some of the algae issues back into the new tank? or do you give the plants a quick dip with H2O2 or something.?
What a beautiful tank. I did something very similar, but I included some dwarf swords for the front and vallis at the back. I went with banded dwarf cichlids age black neon tetra.
Oh Mama! What a fantastic build! Thank you for making the echinodorus scape! In sure you are enjoying it a lot too.. If I had that tank, I would make a long cinematic video for sure! Love the apistos! Do they need deworming? I may put a couple in my tank. I could never make my tank look as good as yours.. you did it so much better!
such a great video, i've always wanted to do an all amazon plant tank. I love those apisto borelli's or umbrella, I'm going to have to locate some soon! thanks for the great content
Just so everyone knows. If you have lots of co2 tanks about or coming to the end of a tank, you can open the tank drop in dry ice put the top on and leave it to come to room temp and you now have a refilled tank. All you need to know is the size of tank to work out how much dry ice and it's really not a lot
Hi MJ, thanks for the awsome video. It almost always amaze me the end result of your creations. In the beginning I cannot see where your design is going to and often it seems to me that its not going to be beautfull..........only to end up great. So, kudos MJ.
Haven't noticed that Elderly stones yet, will scape my 400l pooltank with it, i like them! Where is your Aquaexpo Video, saw you filming there and couldn't stop smiling, was that weird guy that was staring @you :D Cant wait to hear your impressions!
Wieder ein schönes Becken geworden! 👍Die Kapseln hätte ich an deiner Stelle erst später eingebracht, wenn sich der Soil verbraucht hat. Daher sind m. E. die Algen übermäßig aufgetaucht....🙄
Very beautiful scape and looks so natural like the Amazon river basin! Can you trim these Amazon swords like most plants? Keep up the great content mate!
I see you removed some rocks pebbles in the front for white sand; really like the new beachy look and it definitely helps the Echinodorus pop out more too imo! Reminds me a bit of the ADA members' Echinodorus aquascape also which i loved when i first saw that video
The impact that amazon swords give is hard to match. I love the scape, it looks very natural and the fish choice is great as well. Awesome as always, MJ.
Hey MJ I have been a long time fan of your content!! Truly incredible work! I was wondering if it’s not a secret what editing software and music softwares do you use? I have been wanting to work on some projects my self
Very nice layout, I also like echinodorus a lot, esp. "Vesuvis" variety. But it seems like the algy is still a bit of an issue. Possibly to the root tabs - had a very similar experience with them - had algy till I took all the tabs out (luckily I had them clay-based). Thanks for the video and the idea!
Very nice tank! May I know how many Echinodorus plants do you have in this tank? I am using this video as reference to plant Echinodorus in similar size tank (my tank size is 60x45x45cm) :)
If I may, be careful with hatchetfish. I have experience with Carnegiella strigata, find them beautiful but they are excellent jumpers and from any gap they will not hesitate to jump out of the aquarium. Aquarium lids are necessary.Thank you for your content, regards from Brazil.
Beautiful aquascape! Just a word of warning I have kept the penguin tetra previously in a setup with other bottom dwelling cichlids apistogramma specifically the cacatoides. Found that the penguin tetras as they grew larger became more aggressive than most tetras I've seen not in the sense that they would actually like damage any of the other fish but definitely became the extremely predatory of any fry in the tank If you do plan on any of the borelli babies surviving past free swimming stage I would consider maybe giving them a little bit more ground cover if possible like some leaf litter or something like that to help them find more places to hide from the penguin tetras. They are definitely top dwelling fish but I did witness mine actively hunting the apistogramma fry.
Never thought of doing a tank with mostly echinodorus, but I really want to try it after seeing this video! Have you been dosing any fertiliser into the water during the 6 weeks or just let the root tabs do the work? 😊
Hi MJ how often would u recommend replacing your aqua soil. I’ve been reusing mine for a few years now and I saw someone say that deteriorating substrate can cause Cyanobacteria which I occasionally get
Stunning echinodorus growth. But based on your 6 weeks update, the Echinodorus green chameleon doesn't show much growth? Or does it not survive? Because I would like to see the comparison with the Red Chameleon actually 😅
Amazon swords are one of my favourites and allways seem to grow to larger than the stated max size in my tanks id be interested to know how an amazon sword only tank goes so far as nitrate removal I prefer a tank where minimum water changes are needed as my tap water is well over EU legal limits for nitrates so all water changes have to be RO water and at my time of life 200 liter water changes per week is now a problem
The hardscape should have been more vertical than flat ..Gravel was looking good than the final beach look ..may be inspired from echinodorus paradise tank from ADA
I haven't used Echinodorus for many years, because I got bored with them in the 80s (I feel the same way about Anubias). But a Oase Highline 400 scaped by George Farmer and your new aquarium have really made me want to try Echinodorus again...😄 By the way, it was nice to talk to you last Friday at the AquaExpo in Dortmund.
Had to learn the hard way: Once you have cladophora in the tank, you will need to bleach everything. Just a matter of time since clado will be all over your new tank sadly :/ Thumbs pressed though!
You shouldn't have used the old soil or anything from the old scape. Even a tiny bit of cladophora from the old scape is enough for it to spring back up in the new scape.
I have one tank with cladophora. Started using different tools, hoses etc immediatly to avoid crosscontamination. This type of algae is a scapers worst nightmare...
It's so funny how people say, "This way awesome even though it's been out for 5 minutes, but we know what to expect, and it's always great
Wow, those plants grew so much in 6 weeks - what a transformation! Beautiful tank! And those cichlids are so cool, glad to hear they’re easy to keep
That apistogramma borelli is beautiful, the echinodorus are magnificent
Stellar video !! Appreciate your work and everything you make . Excellent , Cheers from chilly Wisconsin .
I love Echinodorus ❤

I love this tank among all the ones you made. Im a big Echinodorus fan. Nice one MJ!

It was a pleasure to meet and talk to you at the AquaExpo in Dortmund
Loving the more biotope-y look of these last couple of builds!
Again an amazing tank with highly interesting fish. I can imagine it would be great to just sit back and watch the behaviour of these fish. 😊
Very impressive as always.
We need more b roll at the end of the video please. Ur tanks deserve it as well.
ive always wanted to do a massive echinodorus scape and now i get to live that experience vicariously through you!
Such a beautiful step by step guide may your day be blessed ❤

Hello MJ, good job as always, thanks !
The tank looks great! Do you ever have issues bringing some of the algae issues back into the new tank? or do you give the plants a quick dip with H2O2 or something.?
I've only had this issue once when I had a tank with some BGA. After rescaping and adding in some ''old plants'' this new scape got BGA as well.
This is a really lovely tank.
What a beautiful tank. I did something very similar, but I included some dwarf swords for the front and vallis at the back. I went with banded dwarf cichlids age black neon tetra.

Yeah really enjoying this tank a lot 😊
I never deworm my fish, but I guess it depends on the source?
@@MJAquascaping Even I don't...hope to find a good source for these beautiful fishes in my area..thanks
Such a beautiful tank combo next to that paludarium. Really makes me want to get some apistos. Thanks for all the cool videos!
Another amazing scape 😊
Great tank Mark
I love how it turned out! The plants look amazing and the fish are gorgeous. Thank you for the video.
Really beatiful and cool scape! (I really have a soft spot for Apistogramma eventhough I don't keep them right now.)
Nice build and lovely looking fish. I love that the plants have so quickly grown and i love to see them pearling.
Look at that male apisto especially at flaring ❤😍
Dennerle plants always look fresh

Great build and fish are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
loving the scape, I wonder how it's doing after some more time as I'd like to recreate this on a larger scale in my 180x50x60cm aquarium
So beautiful! I love Echonodurus 🎉

Yeah just trim the leaves close to the ground 😊
@@MJAquascaping thanks mate!

I think I have 25 :)

Yeah that ADA tank was a huge inspiration 😊
Another really beautiful tank! Unpopular opinion but I like a little algae. As long as it’s not out of control it’s part of a natural ecosystem 🤷🏼♀️

Borellis blijven geweldig 😁 Heb er zelf ook nog steeds mega veel plezier van
Beautiful aquascape as always, you really cannot go wrong with a Southamerican theme, there's plenty of interesting and beautiful species
Hoi MJ,
Ben je niet bang dat de cladophora ook in deze scape terug komt?😇 De nieuwe setup zoet er prachtig uit 👌

Cracka as always man
Great aquascape tutorial 👍🏻
Hello, can you make an update video of this tank? It is very nice and I am just fascinated with Echinodorus plants.
Looking great as always. Are you running CO2 on this one?
Yes I am!
Beauty. Thanks for the info. Been watching your content for some time now - loving your style and what you do.
Wow, that's a nice aquascape, what is the name of the aquascape style?
Awesome aquascape! What type of apisto was that in the Big Shallow?
Apistogramma Hongsloi 😊👍🏻

I’m going to be there at your workshop in the wase vijver winkel. What scape are you gonna make, a nano tank?
Awesome 😎 see you there! I think it’s going to be a 60p
Stunning echinodorus growth. But based on your 6 weeks update, the Echinodorus green chameleon doesn't show much growth? Or does it not survive? Because I would like to see the comparison with the Red Chameleon actually 😅

Hey Mark, one question, when you empty and fill up a couple of times the tank, do you add any water conditioner? When do you add it?
I don’t use any water conditioner. My tap water is pretty good and doesn’t have any chlorine or anything.
😊
What do you use for a camera?
The hardscape should have been more vertical than flat ..Gravel was looking good than the final beach look ..may be inspired from echinodorus paradise tank from ADA
