You can give criminal complaint before magistrate under various sections of ipc against accused police, in addition also a damage suit claiming high monetary compensation/ tort for wrongful imprisonment false evidence before that... I want to say the other things which this advocate has not said. You can approach a lawyer for help(u have right to meet lawyer of your choice, ur arrest will be informed to family) u can apply for bail, you have plea of alibi (at incidence u were at so & so place, if u are educated and no way related to accused, u can prove that, etc etc)....You no need to stop here, u can file suit for damages/tort for false imrisonment, u can file criminal complaint to magistrate under various sections of IPC to punish accused police...

Few months later Mr Galani managed to get bail and the managed to file frivolous cases in Gujarat against prominent Minister from Maharashtra and even against the President of India. My personal experience, I went underground and wrote complaints to vigilance department in Delhi police (bribed these officers too), filed a writ petition in the high court simultaneously that IO had removed a section in the FIR after accepting a Bribe. Meanwhile I also started pressurising IPS level officers by writing letters and meeting them. I got slightly lucky also, that a former MP that my father used to work for showed up at the exact time in CP's office he saw my father and I there and asked us why are we there. He took us upstairs to CP's cabin told them to look after us. All this combined efforts got the first IO suspended and changed, second IO was also arrested in PC act by the opposite party. There was a very high pressure on the opposite party I drained them of all their money. As the pressure mounted they started paying bigger and bigger bribes till than ran out of money completely. Their businesses collapses and they also developed an enmity towards the opposite party.

Actually his advice is not practical nowadays technology plays a major role in evidence. And if you complain against any police officer you should complain in headquarters of anti corruption, PCA ( police complaint authority) or vigilance dept. With proof preferably digital. And his second point that policeman will file a false case against the person . Then the time what policeman will mention in the FIR. If the person is at some other place that time then person can show some evidence of his presence. It can be a CCTV footage or a person statement with whom the person was at the time of crime mentioned in the false FIR. Nowadays mostly places weather residential or commercial have some CCTV cameras installed footage can become proof of persons presence. And also location of a person's mobile is also a proof. Person can also tell the reason to honourable judge that I have filed a case against this policeman that's why he is taking all this false action against me for revenge. That's the practical point

There is a way. You have got to be steadfast. And take anything they throw at you as a part of thr voyage leading to the discovery of the truth. Alternatively, if you are looking at remedies then the best remedy would be quashing of an FIR u/s 482 CrPC, invoking extraordinary jurisdiction of court under articles 226 and 32. Extraordinary jurisdiction of the SC under article 142. You can also make a complaint to the magistrate about the same u/s 200 CrPC. If the police officer has implicated you in a frivolous case you might also approach the magistrate requesting the magistrate to not take cognizance of the chargesheet against you. Basically a lot is also dependent upon the magistrate- whether he takes cognizance or not.

There was another head constable who literally started shaking at the mere mention of a vigilance dept officer. There are many more examples i remember.
