Thank you so much for making this video. The thought of, and also seeing, The Lakeside Inn brings back so many memories for myself and my family (my siblings, parents, grandparents, and great aunt/uncle). I also had a long-time friend who worked here for over 20 years, Charlie Simmons, who has since passed away (July 2021) when this was "the" locals' place to go. I can go back in memory to when this was Harvey's Inn and then it became The Lakeside Inn. I spent many hours here with not only family but also friends. Again, thank you.
I worked at both Harvey's Top of the Wheel and The Timberline restaurants in Harvey's Hotel and Casino and Harvey's Inn (respectively) in the fall/winter of 1974/5. I've got memories of some very wild times at Harvey's Inn, especially New Year's Eve 74/75, when the friends I was partying with had to carry me out the door around 3-4 am, hahaha. Ah, to be young and crazy again! Sad to learn it's gone now, but time teaches us all that the only constant in life is change...
Remember dealing 21 there in 1985... great tips. Lots of memories eating there w/friends. Times are a changing! Gary's Casino & Stateline Medical used to be next door.
Attended the American Century Golf Tourney in 2011 and my now wife took me to a place that a few of the locals “told her about” for my 50th birthday. The Lakeside Inn was a short trip from the Mont Bleu where we stayed but about 40 yrs back in time. The decor I guess is quaint, which translates to Old. I’m sure in the heyday, it was a destination spot, but time takes its toll.
We stayed at the Pines Lodge cabins on the hill above Cambria with our dog, we enjoyed being amongst the trees at the back and watching the deer at night walk in as well as the coast which has otters and sea lions and just up the road is Hearst castle, worth a visit! 👍
I miss old Tahoe. Well, my version of it. Parents and grandparents had their version and I’m sure our children will have theirs. As long as they all include great memories, I suppose that’s what matters.
Fort Bragg is my favorite place on the coast. There is a beautiful garden "Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens." They allow dogs on a leash and a variety of other dog friendly places. Also in the town of Fort Bragg itself there is a yummy ice cream shop called Cowlicks.
Congrats on your 12 year anniversary. My husband and I like to go to Monterey Tides hotel in Monterey. It is not too fancy but it is right on the beach and is dog friendly. You can choose water view or garden view. I recommend the water view side. They have a restaurant on the top floor, a pool, jacuzzi and gym. Located 2600 Sand Dunes Dr.
When we lived off NUT we would go to Mendocino with our large labs. There are several independents that allow dogs and the town is quite nice. There are lots of nearby trails. Sorry I cannot recall the names of the places we stayed.
Not sure which coastal area you are hoping to visit. Beachcomber Motel in Fort Bragg is a great place to stay with the dogs. It's right on the beach with lots of dog-friendly activities in the area. There is a dog park at the motel. They also have fire pits and bicycles for the nice paved path that runs along the coast. We've also stayed at Motel 6 in Marina near Monterey. It's no frills, but it's an inexpensive stay when you have pets with you.
I literally have tears. I used to get to my place there, call (local artist) Linda DrCurtis and we would go to Lakeside for dinner. She’s gone and now Lakeside is gone too. I remember it as one of the originals. Kinda like the CalNeva at the north end. I always seemed to win a little $$ at both places. Never at the others! Wow do I miss the old lake.
Great sunset for the end of the Lakeside Inn (Harvey's Inn for most of my time) Truly a locals casino. Good food, great people, saw many good shows for a two drink minimum. Won a little money over the years ( lost a lot more haha) Live music and dancing on weekends lot of fun and a little bit of trouble. I think they were the last casino on south shore to have $2 single deck blackjack. Yes a sad day...
That sunset was AMAZING! Have you guys thought about getting a retractable awning for the deck? They aren't too expensive and it would be nice if you could use your deck in light rain and super sunny days. : )
Not sure if dog friendly, but The Beach House in Half Moon Bay is nice for a standard CA coast trip. The 2nd Lightkeeper’s House at Point Cabrillo Light Station between Mendocino and Ft. Bragg is dog friendly if you want something a bit more unique. If you’re interested in Monterey Bay/Santa Cruz, the Sanctuary in Marina at the dunes is nice and between both areas without the congestion.
My wife and I got married in a fancy house on the top of the mountain with the best lake view ever. We will be celebrating 20 years Aug 9th. Congratulations
Wow! Same here August 9th on the top of the Mountain on the North Shore. We are celebrating our 25th. Congrats! And Congrats to Bri and Dan! Back in our “courting” years, my beloved took me to a restaurant on the pier located in Redondo Beach, CA called “Tony’s” It was beautiful. And another classic “Mimosa Sunday Brunch” was in Laguna Beach, CA, namely “Las Brisas”. Such lovely, loving and splendid memories. Wishing all of you more Love and Light and gorgeous sunsets. 🌅 🥰 💗
Are your pretty sunsets caused by smoke phenomena from Canada affecting the skies? Congrats on your anniversary! Personally, I love the San Juan islands (car ferry from Anacordes north of Seattle and the Carmel, California stretch of seaside. I’ve no clue about dog-friendly hotels, but some Airbnb may be more what you are looking for.
I worked there in the slot department when it opened..The owners closed it without warning within a month of the pandemic because they were turned down for the PPP loan. They ran and left people out of work. Trumplike casino owners just ran...
Sad that Lakeside Inn is gone. Thanks for the bit of history. Spectacular sunset!
Very beautiful sunset. Thank you for sharing❤

That is a good lesson for sure.
Awesome sunset.....and the good news is the colors in the sky are not enhanced by smoke from the fires from the past couple of years.
Loved the music
You're a great story teller, I love your videos. Your channel should grow like crazy. Please keep doing what you're doing. Thanks for sharing 👍👍
thanks for your kind comment!
Some good history stories over in North Shore, the old Cal-Neva and the Rat Pack days to start.
Eras come and go, life goes on and one can’t help but feel sad as sunset falls…Beautiful sunset🌅
life does go on. Thanks for the comment.
That sunset is astonishing. I could feel my stress going away just looking at it, lol.

Thanks for your comment Ann!
So many changes in SLT in the 24 years I’ve been visiting but not the gorgeous sunsets. Coming up next weekend for my son’s soccer tournament.
How sad! We used to enjoy dinner there with the kids every year.

I won a lot of money at the Lakeside inn in the 80"s and the 90"s sorry to see it go ...good to see Round hill again
Thanks for sharing Don!

well said!
Beautiful sunset!! I worked at Lakeside Inn 1990-1997. So weird to see it gone. Lots of wonderful people walked through those doors.
Thanks for sharing!

We stayed at the Lakeside Inn on our honeymoon in 1987... so sad 😢

all good, thanks for the comment. We will look into the Mendocino area.

Easily was the best and most fun true sports book on this side of the lake. Thanks for the special nod!
all good!

Hey Paul, Thanks for your comment. Glad you have good memories from Lakeside!
We ate and played there many years. Very sad.

Thanks for your comment Jeff. Many people I have spoken with feel the same way about Lakeside.
Why a fantastic view from your house. Just wondering how much a house like yours costs? Seems ideal!
Thank you. Much appreciated. We are grateful for what we have and feel fortunate to have a home with a view!
That sunset was AMAZING! Have you guys thought about getting a retractable awning for the deck? They aren't too expensive and it would be nice if you could use your deck in light rain and super sunny days. : )
Thanks Suzi! We have not thought about that . Maybe in the future!

Thanks mate!
It’s interesting that I have been a west shore person for fifty years and have never heard of it. I guess I am not very familiar with the South Shore.
You missed out! Free drink tickets daily with a season pass!
Ragged Point near San Simian is a great place to stay on the coast. Dog friendly also.😊
Thanks for the tip!
Stayed there once on 8/10/2007. It wasn’t all that.
My wife and I got married in a fancy house on the top of the mountain with the best lake view ever. We will be celebrating 20 years Aug 9th. Congratulations

Thankfully the sunsets this spring have been all natural! No smoke so far for us this year.

Nick's Cove Tomales Bay. dog friendly.
Thanks for the suggestion!
One less casino sounds good to me. The ugly part of South Lake Tahoe.
I worked there in the slot department when it opened..The owners closed it without warning within a month of the pandemic because they were turned down for the PPP loan. They ran and left people out of work. Trumplike casino owners just ran...
thanks for the insight. I did not know that. Sorry to hear that.
