I'm joining a lot of "3 apex" quests as a sticky HBG user and everytime I can feel the team having a breath of air when the monster goes down again and again! XD
I found proof of power WAY harder than the Apex one for exactly that reason. Being able to stunlock the monsters one at a time is so much easier than trying to handle multiple at once

This is a good build. I’m using 4 different kinds of builds for HBG Stickies, I have Magnamalo, Rajang, Tigrex and Rampage. As for Pierce build, I’m using the Narga but I will use your build. I’ll see how it turns out.
I found Steadiness is not needed for Rajang's Rage, I know this sounds insane but hear me out. The deviation of the shots actually start mid-way through flight. Meaning they fly perfectly straight then start to curve randomly at a far distance. There's hardly any moment when you're going to be outside this deviation range, especially if you're playing with Wyvern shots that need you to be within a wirebug dash range. Removing Steadiness 2 allows for a LOT more freedom in your build. I'm believe im currently running AB7, Spare Shot 3, Artillery 3, Ammo Up 3, Slugger 2, Reload+Recoil 3 and Flinch Free 1. with my reload speed 2 (2)(2) Talisman. I originally didnt believe in slugger, but I'm honestly starting to believe it's a big deal. I Don't have a Peak Performance Talisman so I never attempted to stack that in there.
Slugger the skill not really a big deal. If you consistently land shots on the head - you’ll get the next K.O anyway - 1st and second K.O is always easy to get - the new monsters usually have a topple mechanic giving you a breather for example apex mizu 1st ko - 2nd ko - 3rd head topple -4th ko slugger 3 is insane but having so much k.o might actually cancel some topples and end them prematurely. that’s why i just made it “comfort” skills in the builds - if you can have it - go for it. And for steadiness. you can easily cancel out deviation by being near the monster - “true”! I just went for steadiness here as a “general approach” believe it or not - in speedruns it comes in handy too because you dont need to reposition. Some runs just really need you to firing sticky instead of switching to sticky - wyvern.
@@AngBata11 very true, and much better to generalize the build then let people make adjustments as necessary. I like the comment about new monsters having a topple mechanic. I found (online) mixing body shots (for topples) and headshots when toppled to be very effective and with a little slugger and timing you can chain them pretty consistently. Slugger1 being super efficient and low cost helps. Deviation is definitely useful and i wouldn't consider it a comfort skill but it's something (again online) that you can definitely get away with removing if you're comfortable with your positioning and play. Definitely not something i am recommending over the build in the video, the video build is much more catered to picking up and having it work with little effort and barely a talisman. I do think flinch free 1 to be mandatory for most online play with a wyvern fire method. Which is why i even started looking into what was completely necessary. Seeing as you're pretty talented, i do suggest you give it a try and see what you can do with your build without it. My personal goal would be AB7/Artillery 3/ammo up 3,spare shot 3, recoil/reload/steadiness max, slugger 1 or flinch free depending on if online. Both if possible. Appreciate what you do for the community, i found the rajang weapon through your videos, and it's just so great.
If any1 is here still. How are your stickies doing so much damage? I see you spamming them without charging doing like 125ish...when I don't charge my stickies are hitting for like 70-80ish
for the Ibushi gun, you could go with Maximum Might over Artillery if you are focusing solely on slicing. i feel like people forget this skill exists.🤷♂️ also, the Kushala gun makes you feel like a damn turret. -in case people still aren’t aware, stationary fire guns have a faster fire rate than walking fire guns... this means if you down a monster you can easily empty HALF of your pierce 3 magazine before it gets back up (20 or so shots if you aren’t already in place), and since HBG has those infinite side hops to get around which compensate for no walk and shoot, stationary shot HBGs are NOT to be ignored! finally, why would i use the Kushala hbg over the Narga lbg? cuz i’m soooooooo bored with that dang gun. we’re not all doing speed runs man... 30 seconds to a minute difference isn’t an issue for most of us. go for FUN, not meta if you’re not doing speed runs people🙂
It’s not just a 30 second to a minute difference. Don’t get me wrong - I like using the gun. I have fun with it. Believe me i still find it weird that pierce 2 and pierce 3 dmg difference is like that. The MV isn’t far away from each other. MM on the ibushi gun - I don’t use MM on my sets because i just hate the down time - even if you go for MM .. probably won’t reach 100% aff as well. The main reason i went for ibushi gun as well is for versatility because if you really want to go pure slicing - Narga would be better but then again it won’t have the comfort of controlling the monster with sticky.
Confession When i was playing in iceborne, I was HBG all the way 700 hours later. Never ever tried sticky or slicing... not sure why. Maybe pierce and spread was too appealing. May as well try sticky on Rise. Let you know how i go with your build even though i don't have all the gems on your build
Exactly lol I have 5 different HBG builds in MHW, 3 for spread and 2 for pierce, with different levels of defense/shield mods Although I played a lot of Safi's Aquashot' Sticky
@@ryean8212 I played a lot more aquashot than I should've tbh. I kept wanting to try other builds, but I was already addicted to the damage numbers from rapid sticky. In Rise, I don't feel that much of a difference in damage between rapid pierce, sticky hbg, and even the wyvern fire meme build.
Huh, I hadn't thought to use the Ibushi bowgun for Slicing. I'm guessing its still Mango for matchups without anti aerial? Also I'm pretty sure Daora is actually the best Normal 3 gun (not that it matters that much which is ever so slightly better for this), and that Spare Shot 3 is worth considering for Raw ammos. Iirc Spare 3 is preferred over AB4 on Chammy Spread in terms of DPS. I run it with Crit Eye 5, Ballistics 2, CB3 (and WEX ofc), and Spare Shot 3 and the amount of destruction on monster's faces is immense.
deviation can be turned into a strength instead of assuming its bad you can make some wicked head shots when the monster is at a bad angle lol just practice in the training area to get used to the distance for mild or severe deviations!
they need to bring back that one old skill that combines all 3 ammo boosts and Honed edge or was it edgemaster for ABL and Sharpness+ and many other good ones :I
HBG has been my main in every monster hunter. I play with all the weapons but HBG always feels like my favorite. For once we're not the very top of DPS meta., I'd say I'm not upset but I'd be lying, getting beat by LBG noobs with pierce rapid fire (who seem to wake up every sleeping monster killing the fun) is out of control wtf Capcom! (Partial Sarcasm partial truth)
Eh, I'd rather just use Magnamalo's since I can also move while shooting my Stickies and Slicing, but I'll try it to see how it goes. Already use Chameleos for Spread, although didn't think to use it for Normal. I don't use Pierce for HBG, and I'm not too big of a fan of pure Sticky builds.
Let's please (PLEEEASE) discuss Guard and Guard Up more deeply. Maybe it can be its own video. Would shield and 0 guard still be comfy? Does Guard Up chip damage mitigation only affect unblockable attacks? Does anyone have a list of all the currently unblockable attacks in the game? What about just using guard 3 without Guard Up? Or what about just using guard 1 or 2? I am seeking the bare minimum to comfortably block and maximize damage output.
Shield with no guard isn't worth using, since you can tackle anytime you could block or you can wirebug counter and the chip damage is rather large. Guard Up and Guard were both massively nerfed, since previously Guard affected the chip damage of unblockables. Guard up only affects the chip damage of unblockables, regular guard lowers chip based on thresholds like in world but it is much less effective per level now. If you have guard 2 on a sticky set because you aren't using valstrax and have bazel on you may as well use the shield, or just make valstrax armor and use the power barrel instead. Ang says not to use it but not everyone plays in 4 mans, so use valstrax. If you are really untouchable, poison yourself with a toad and enjoy the massive damage bonus from max resuscitate, resentment, and the valstrax 10% bonus to atk
there is no BEST cheese! Cheese comes in many flavors. if you got a great tali...use it! seriously though the Rajang Rage is easy to build. i use mine with shield, guard three and guard up 2 and its comfy as all get out even against the Apex monsters. i built some sticky cluster HBG (the Rampage one) but rarely use it because i cant really use the cluster in multiplayer but it does work well for solo hunts.
I feel like the 10% damage difference is worth it for the shield in a similar way to how bigger clip sizes often outperform higher raw. I might be doing less damage per shot, but my firing uptime is higher than with the barrel because I have less dodging to do. To be fair this is purely speculation and I have no data to support that. Maybe that's a good topic for a video?
Your thinking is good. Dealing higher dmg means monster would topple or die quicker. Going for the shield approach makes you dodge less and fire more. The more you know the monster’s moves and patterns - the more shield becomes useless let’s put it at that. And when I mean “you know the monster’s move” - i mean you know when that attack is going to hit you. You know when to topple it and tackle an attack to prevent it from lowering your fire rate or killing you Shield for monsters you are not comfy and then slowly transition to have no shield against it would be nice
It is really unfortunate how good sticky is, trivializes everything and makes every other weapon pretty much obsolete unless you're going for solo WR speedruns.

Sticky and normal are my favorite HBG tigrex for Normal with Vastrax armor is amazing, the damage on each weakness spot is very high

I made a Zinogre HBG Build with shield to use Thunder Pierce against Apex Mitsuzune. Sure not better than Rajang, but its fun

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought anti aerial species was only a 5% damage bonus to flying monsters compared to anti aquatic's 10%.
5 or 10% either way - we dont have much of a choice - the other ramp up skills are not important

I thought slicing ammo wasn't boosted by Dango booster and marksman, my damage stays the same before and after I eat booster and marksman.
Booster works for everything - but have to be in quest to see it.
