Instead of water, try chicken broth. Way better.
I never tried doing it this way .... kind of like the blender idea and then adding it to the roux. I will be trying this next time I make 12 qt's for the freezer. But I am going to try something a bit different I have never seen anyone else do ... when you add the tomato paste / sauce ... I will be using El Pato Mexican tomato sauce ... be careful this will take the heat up a notch. In my family we use El Pato just as it comes in the can for our taco sauce.
