Just bought the new Tundra limited. Absolutely love it. Driven the other big 3 and find the Tundra to be far more refined. Plus getting better gas milage in these days is a big selling point. I have had tons of on lookers and many compliments from all the valets in Vegas this weekend who see lots and lots of cars and trucks and everyone one of them were very impressed with it. Great job Toyota!!!!

On every Tundra review people trash it. 🤣 Had a 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016 and NEVER had an issue. Switched to Sierra Denali and absolutely hate it. Pick up the 2022 Limited Tundra tomorrow and can't wait to go back

With all of the issues people seem to be having, the Tundra will still be more reliable going forward and still have better resale value than the BIG 3. Toyota will get things right with the new trucks. That's a given!!!

I wonder how many problems there actually are ? I have heard lots of trash talk on the current Tacoma. I had a 2018 and traded it on a 2021.I have not had a single problem. I did like the powertrain better in my 2008 Tacoma .

@jmb5940 yeah been looking for a new truck chevy and gmc have the worst problems compared to the rest, engine, transmission, and electrical problems, ford and ram are alright but still have their issues here and there their value also drops a ton, toyota tundra hasnt had to many problems but whenever they do toyota fixes them quickly and their value also holds up more compared to the rest, after searching every truck, my option is a new tundra platinum.

Something tells me Toyota was definitely listening to feedback from the Ford Ecoboost 3.5L V6 before applying a twin-turbo V6 to their pride & joy, Tundra. That 10spd transmission is smooth as butter 🧈

I would stay far away from the new Tundra for the time being. They've been having problems left and right with the turbo waste gates going out on these things with only a couple hundred miles and the vehicles going into limp mode. I thought that was the only problem but after doing some research, they've been having problems with roofs leaking, transmission issues, electronic issues, door lock actuator failures, just to name a few. Not to mention real world testing shows it doesn't get all that better mpg with two less cylinders. They should have stuck with what was tried and true. The limits especially of an ICE are only going to go so far as far as improving mpg in a giant truck.

Overall though they probably have the fewest issues of all of them - but by no means does a TOYOTA badge on a vehicle mean that it was built by God himself. The new Tundra is an example of that. I just took possession of my 2022 Platinum Edition Tundra last week love it so far. I'm 62 years old and have always bought new vehicles every year or two. Chevrolet and Toyota have always been my go-to simply because that's what I prefer. I have owned numerous brand-new Chevrolet and Toyota vehicles over the past 20 years and have had zero issues with any of them. Until today that is, my new Platinum is going to the garage next week for the driver side Platinum door emblem lifting up and also the passenger ambient LED door lighting not working. I love this truck but have to say that I'm a little concerned with the initial quality issues. My particular truck even had a 60-day QC hold at the port, so this is unacceptable in my opinion. What the hell are they doing with these QC holds if the vehicle is not problem free after delivery? I hope that my minor issues are just a freak occurrence, and my truck will be problem free like the Toyotas I have always relied upon for their reliability. I must say that I think the Chevrolet Silverado might be the best buy for the money out there right now. More to come on the warranty repair issues on my 2022 Tundra.

@Lee G We have much in common, I'm currently %100 PT with the VA that plus I was fortunate enough to get my 20 years so I'm double dipping. I hear you about the job stress with this screwed up economy. I was laid off from my bank IT job after 28 years how I ended up at the VA. Most of my Navy years were reserve time while working at the bank in fact I was deployed to Djibouti Africa when I heard the news. They had to continue paying me until I got back home off of active duty 11 months later at least. I was deployed to Balad Iraq when I got hurt and that ended my military career. I remember working for the bank all those years always worried about being outsourced or just laid off, hated it. It was nice working for the VA as a GS11 IT specialist, the pay was awesome after a few years and no worries about layoffs. You really have to look at how stable your employment is and go from there. I was in a good position with my purchase of the Tundra, had a $60k trade that was half paid off, $66k for the Platinum so only financed around $36k still a lot of money but not $66k plus tax. You would absolutely love the truck that much I can tell you. Good luck to you my friend whatever you choose to do.

I have owned GMC and Ford and both had their share of problems. I have never had a problem with Toyota. There is a lot of chatter about Tundra problems but I wonder how many of these comments are from people that have never owned a Toyota ?

I thought that the RST was the "sport" version of the Silverado, and I have a '21 LT Trail Boss, which would seem to me to be a better comparison to the TRD Off Road version of the Tundra.

I'm a Toyota fan-boy and was awaiting this new Tundra as I am in the market for a new full-size, but honestly the teething problems and the design is just not doing it for me. I need a truck, not a mall cruiser. Besides the atrocious grill, I can't stand the SUV like bumpers. Also, the real-world MPG is a big disappointment, and for that you get much higher complexity and repair cost - no thanks. The interior is decent (except for the reduced rear seat legroom on the Double Cabs), but other than that, Toyota missed the mark as far as this buyer is concerned.

This in white(stormtrooper ) , murdered out black (Vader ) or orange 🍊 … would be my choices for this vehicle
Overall it’s a a fantastic truck … the only issue i have with it is still the technological aspect of Toyota … some how they still lack camera 360 stitching quality
I would like to see a higher performance varient that can go head to head with the outgoing raptor
That would be cool to see

Just traded my 22 tundra for a nissan titan pro 4x. Hateeeed the engine, and feels so week with load. And the exterior feels cheap, too much plastic. The nissan titan might be a gas eater(especially at this time) but its a complete truck, love it and super glad with this truck!

Titans endurance engine is really solid and nissan has years working with that engine and transmission, and like a said 100 k mile warranty you really cant beat that.

I just don't know what happened. Toyota has had like 14 years to come out with a great truck, and they've been having a BUNCH of problems! I just sold my 2008 Tundra and so anxious to purchase another truck. I had planned on the new Ford Lightning, but I realize that's gonna be awhile. The Silverado EV, even longer! I decided to just go ahead and buy another Tundra, but just too many problems. I was planning on the hybrid, now expected in June. Toyota can't get this one right, I doubt the hybrid will prove more dependable. The latest is a problem, is with the rear axle/hub. Wheel almost came off. One person claims the rear axle is smaller, but I haven't confirmed it. The final nail was Toyota's response to these issues. Not typical Toyota, apparently. Another great review as always, Joe. Keep em coming!!

26:53 i don't like digital display; if I'd get any trim I'd get it with analog display and a physical key 🗝️ ignition switch i feel the vehicle is not reliable if im not at 100% control of it; i hope they keep leaving the standard version options cause there's buyers like me that buy the actual vehicle not a game boy on wheels; if im at the dealer id be like: hey im here to buy a pickup truck, if i wana spend on electronic atractions I'd be at radio shack or game stop some sort of electronics store... 90% of electric atractions of what the vehicle would have i wouldn't even be using, it id be more attracted 😛 to only driving mi new truck jajaja 😄

I’m a Tundra owner and fan but this report is a tad over the top. For ex, customer research would show that most want a step bumper. To say otherwise simply isn’t accurate.Further adding a step bumper wouldn’t weaken the tailgate. The step up would be in the bumper.
