A half century later and I've still only seen evidence of self-delusion and wishful thinking, like small children giddy over their belief in Santa Clause.
I went to a lecture given by Barrie Scwortz in Longmont Colorado, and met him afterward. I said "You've actually touched the SHROUD?" NO SHROUD of Turin in the gospels ... I started to think about the Shroud some time ago because quite a lot of UA-cam channels claim that it is 100 % sure the burial cloth of Jesus. So I did what Paul said: 1Thess 5,21 but test them all; hold on to what is good, I searched for all the relevant "burial" verses in the gospels and I did some basic Greek word studies on BibleHub: Mk 15,46 And Joseph bought linen cloth [SINDONA, singular] and taking him down, wrapped [ENEILESEN] him in the linen cloth [SINDONI, singular] and laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock. And he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. Joh 19,39 Nicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds in weight [about 32 kg]. Joh 19,40 So they took the body of Jesus and bound [EDESAN] it in linen cloths [OTHONIOIS, plural] with [META] the spices [AROMATON; about 32 kg], as is the burial custom of the Jews. Mk 16,1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices [AROMATA] so that they might go to anoint [ALEIPSOSIN] Jesus. (1) SINDON > a linen cloth? I quickly recognised that some bible translations of SINDON are adding the indefinite article "a" although there is no one in the original Greek texts. Is it mandatory to add "a" and is it also mandatory to understand "the" plus noun singular always as one piece only? Why the gospel of John does not mention SINDON? (2) JOSEPH > purchase If SINDON must be understood as one large piece linen only (like the Shroud) - where the bandages (OTHONION) and the head cloth (SOUDARION) came from? (3) SOUDARION Shroud If the complete body of Jesus was already wrapped/bound by Joseph and Nicodemus in something like the Shroud - why there was a need to add a head cloth? Also Lazarus wore a head cloth when coming out the tomb himself but how it was done in combination with something like the Shroud? (4) SPICES > stains/particles Nicodemus organised a 32 kg sticky mixture of myrrh and aloes. Together with Joseph they wrapped/bound the body in linen (OTHONION) WITH the spices. STURP (Shroud Of Turin Research Program) used many analytical methods and finally it was even emphasised that not any trace of spices/oils were detected!? But there must be at least non degradable stains/particles of spices (like for blood)!? And if in the meantime a failure of STURP was revealed - how the adding of spices worked with something like the Shroud? (5) WOMEN > anointing After Sabbath the women came to anoint Jesus. How this worked if the body was completely wrapped/bound in linen with the spices? To get access at least to his head they would have had to remove/destroy the wrapping!? FAZIT: To bring all the gospel information together ... o without twisting the Scripture, o not assuming/inventing something, o and only considering the gospels' context, ... I would claim the following: I. SINDON must be translated/understood as a general material description "linen cloth" and it means all the needed burial cloth (bandages and head cloth). Joseph should have known to buy what is needed according to the burial customs of Jews at that time. II. OTHONION means bandages and the spices were put between when the body was wrapped/bound by Joseph and Nicodemus (except the head). This was done promptly after taking Jesus from the cross. III. The SOUDARION was added also promply and it remained there until the resurrection. IV. Jesus was transported to the nearby rock-tomb and was laid in there. Nothing else was done in the tomb. V. The women came after Sabbath with the intention to anoint Jesus' head (hair/face). This was an act of honour that could have been done easily by removing/adding the head cloth (SOUDARION). Trust the gospels and not a doubtful relic to believe in Jesus!
Lito Zulueta: read my comment at the beginning. God says it's a fake. Why do you believe a non believer? He has no biblical answer. It's nice that everyone believes he's a nice man, but that doesn't answer scripture. Hopefully God will open his eyes to scripture.
@@jerrypotter4137 So the Shroud of Turin is a fake because it is not in the Bible? John’s Chapter 20 account of the “empty tomb” says the “disciple” (John?) went ahead of Peter and saw the “linen cloth” that covered Jesus’ body “lying on the ground”. The same gospel ended with the caveat that “not all signs and miracles of Jesus and his disciples are recorded in this book.” The photographer is a Jew-like Jesus-and does not a nonbeliever’s expert opinion that the Shroud is not a fake and that it could be the real thing carry some weight and should check the naysayers and haters and self-proclaimed believers like you?
@@litozulueta6013 You are not reading the verse. There are three parts to wrapping a body as the Jews did. The head, body, and feet. It is wrapped like a barber's pole. Spiral. It over laps. God is telling you that the shroud is fake long before it ever happened. The reason that not all miracles he did were recorded because the purpose of any miracle is to show who Jesus is: the Messiah and that he is the only one who can save you from your sins. Jesus never healed the same way twice to prove that it's not what he does that's important: it is who he is. A non believers opinions don't matter one little bit. He has no answers from the bible which is God's word. If the two conflict: the bible wins. Lastly God can NOT violate his own word. THOU SHALT NOT MAKE ANY GRAVEN IMAGE... OF ANYTHING THAT IS IN HEAVEN.... So where is Jesus? OR ON THE EARTH.... Jesus walked here. OR UNDER THE EARTH, meaning the ocean. Anyone making a fish symbol representing Jesus is wrong. Icthus Ixous in Greek means fish. Each letter is the first letter in the phrase, Jesus Christ, son of God savior. There is no description of Jesus anywhere other than Isaiah saying "they plucked out my beard". Now why do you think that is?
@@litozulueta6013 the shroud is fake because of what is IN the bible. It does NOT say anything was on the ground. The face cloth was rolled up and NOT lying with the linen wrappings. The bodies do NOT lie on the ground. This was a tomb; not a grave. A "non-believer's" opinion does NOT matter when it comes to the bible. John 11:44 gives you the same details of "unwrapping him". Since Jesus raised Lazarus; then where is the imprint on his cloth? They wrapped the body like a candy cane swirl. The cloth overlaps each piece and it's impossible to have a photo of a flat picture be on the wrappings. Also God does NOT violate his own word. THOU SHALT NOT make any graven image of anything that is in Heaven or on the earth or under the earth. Is Jesus in heaven or not? Apparently you don't trust the bible. Now who's the self-proclaimed believer? Jesus came unto his own and his own did NOT receive him. Who cares if the photographer was Jewish? My teacher is a Hebrew that speaks Greek. That was thirty five years ago. A person comes to Jesus because of his sin: NOT a photograph.

Thank you, Mr. Schwortz for your work. I was a grad student and researcher at UC Santa Barbara in the late '70s and early '80s doing image-processing of Landsat satellite imagery to map agriculture in California, so when I saw there was going to be a local display of the image processing that had been done on the Shroud, I was interested in seeing the results. i was raised Catholic but have been a born-again Evangelical Protestant Christian all my adult life. i have read many articles about the Shroud of Turin but would not consider myself "learned" at all on that object. however, i did do 23 years in the Marine Corps, 8 years of which was spent in the U.S. intelligence community. i do know a little about atomic weapons. in my initial study of the atomic bombs dropped on Japan by the U.S. in WW2, i was always struck by the "shadow images" on buildings and objects of human and other forms caused by the intense light radiation released by the detonation of the bombs. in my mind, the image on the Shroud has a very simple explanation. the "Resurrection" of Jesus Christ that took place in the stone tomb included an intensity and structure of "light" or "radiation" that no human has ever seen or could understand. in fact, even the use of the terms "light" and "radiation" to describe what one might have witnessed when God brought Jesus back to life is no doubt an incorrect term. i will always believe that the image on the Shroud is there as a "testament" to Jesus coming back to life - however that process was achieved by God The Father.
You are exactly right. We attended a Shroud event at the Museum of the Bible in DC and heard a Father Robert Spitzer speak on the specifics of exactly what you are saying. Fascinating!
To be able to find a piece of fine linen such as the shroud in a medieval time period would require 1. Finding a pure linen cloth completely intact but also having severe electromagnetic radiation damage on linen equal to that of Dead Sea scrolls we know are over 2000 years old. 2. Cloth must up to 2000 years old 3. Cloth must be 14 feet long by 3.5 ft long completely intact 8 x 2 cubits. 4. Cloth/the linen the individual strands must be bleached before weaving. A process Called Hank bleaching. A method they stopped doing in the 3rd or 4th century 5. Pattern of weaving is in the pattern of the bones of a herring fish...an ancient style of weaving that originated in Egypt and Syria before time of Jesus. Herringbone weave. No way did someone from a medieval time come up with a cloth like this and then decide to put an image of Jesus on it! NO WAY!

Shortly after the Chernobyl disaster, I saw a picture from the nuclear plant that has haunted me to this day. It was a picture taken of two mens' shadows burned into cement wall behind where they were standing when the blast occurred. The men were gone- as tho vaporized- but the flash was SO BRIGHT that it burned their images onto the wall behind them!! So many years later, I had an epiphany... The glory of God... The ABSOLUTE GLORY OF THE GREAT I AM...how BRIGHT must THAT be!!! Remember how Moses came down from the mountain looking like an old man who'd been sunburned?? The people could hardly look at him because he radiated God's glory!! So, as to the shroud... Imagine how it must've been, inside that tomb, when Jesus was resurrected!!! God's GLORY!!!!❤️🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Indeed! If God himself were to show up in full intensity in front of us while here on the Earth......i doubt our bodies would survive it. I believe our flesh would melt off of our bones, something like the Ark of the Covenant scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark, lol. When Jesus visited me at the Windsor Park apartment complex off of Plano Rd. in Dallas Texas.....he was too bright to look at directly, my eyes were cast down to my left, and he appeared to be hovering slightly above the ground. I could however make out his right hand and forearm that was extended out towards me. In the palm of his right hand was a brilliant shining ball about 1/2 an inch in diameter. It looked like it had been purified by fire over 7 times. and had beams of light shooting out from it in all directions. The appearance was the color of Gold that shined like quicksilver. When Jesus extended his right hand out to me and had it in the palm of his hand....I immediately knew that he was offering it to me. So without speaking, i agreed to accept it, and stretched my left hand out towards his hand to take it out of his hand. When my hand got close to it, it then flew out of Jesus hand, right into my hand, and then went straight INTO my hand and my bones...it then flew straight into my HEART. And that is the very moment that i heard Jesus speak. And this is exactly word for word what he said: "What are you going to do with it?" I IMMEDIATELY knew how special it was and how powerful it was. And before i could stop myself I said something with the intention to let Jesus know that I knew how special it was and that it needed to be PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS. So before i could stop myself i said something kinda stupid and still regret it just a little bit. Here is what i told Jesus when he asked me what i was going to do with it, and this is word for word what i said: "I will keep it in my Heart and GUARD it like a DRAGON." And then Jesus disappeared.....and here I am several years later still alive by the Grace of God and his oldest Son, Jesus Christ. Otherwise known as Amen. And here i am still alive with it in my HEART and there is NOTHING IN THIS WORLD THAT CAN TAKE IT FROM ME. Amen!!!!
Well, if we go far back enough in time everyone has had some illustrious person in the family tree but if you're just an anonymous person on you tube, it's doesn't matter
the reason people are deceived is because Jesus isn't their Lord they say he is but they have their mind on this world and never grow to sinless obedience and become overcomes by death to self and being born of the spirit with a new mind and the powers of the world to come. they remain infants and cannot face the powers of darkness. no spiritual power only a form of godliness.if they read the book they would know that the cloth is not a witness, and his burial wraps were in two piles and not a roman relic to bow before .
Just sharing my experience with this image on the cloth. I was a firm atheist when I went to bed one night and woke up a believer in Jesus as Savior. In a dream I was in the presence of Jesus and I felt the power of love that was undeniably divine. When looking at His face, in my dream, I thought he was a very unusual looking man, yet not ugly. When coming home from work many years later I turned on the TV and the History Channel was doing a special on the Shroud of Turin. When the face of the Shroud was shown I immediately knew it was the face of Jesus without knowing what the program was about. It really irks me when people try to make the face look normal because His face is EXACTLY the way it appears on the Shroud.
Check out Ray Downing's work on the shroud. Using precise computer calculations he was able to recalculate what the face would actually look like in real life. It's absolutely stunning...

God bless you Barrie!
The one thing that Barry (who's a wonderful man - and this is my only criticism -) always seems to fail to impress with enough profundity is that - in order to explain the 3D quality - and the negative print quality (rather than 'positive' image) - the ONE imperative thing that blows your mind far more than any other fact is that this image can ONLY HAVE BEEN MADE by an extremely powerful light burst in an extremely short space of time - FROM WITHIN THE ACTUAL BODY OF CHRIST ITSELF... THIS is the thing that you're looking at here. This is the recording of a miracle (as yet unrealized by most people) ... This is the image of the body of Christ recorded at the moment it transcended into Light - and passed through the cloth. (...Am I right? ... I have to add 'possibly' to the above because how can I pretend to know?!I cannot... I should be more careful... Maybe none of us will know this until we die - and, anyway, we do not NEED proof of Christ - we need Faith alone ... belief ... Light ... Isn't that the point?).
@Whyare Youasking that is correct and there is two times in the Bible where HE said let us go down one was the creation of man the other was the Tower of Babel
A lot of people who are brainwashed into believing the shroud is fake and that Jesus is fake and not the Risen Messiah may come to the end of their lives in shock and terror, remorse, despair and regret.
Believing the shroud to be real/fake has no bearing on a person’s salvation. If you follow Christ and believe him to be who he claimed to be, you are saved.
What a loving thing to say. I can think of no other instance in which the mere non-act of not being convinced by something so brutally condemns a person to eternal suffering. You were convinced. Congratulations. But our experiences are different. I spent decades, for instance, as a professional musician taking part in literally hundreds of religious rituals in nearly as many different churches, each with their own variation of rules, beliefs, and practices, often contradictory to one another. Perhaps I would have been more easily convinced of the truth of but a single one of them had I not seen all of the others. But that would have been from a position of relative ignorance compared to the such a huge variety. Also, what convinces one person may not be sufficient to convince all. Science did not "turn me away" from religion. Rather, the burden being on the claimant to show sufficient cause for acceptance of their claim, I simply have not be presented with sufficiently convincing evidence. And for that I must suffer eternal torment. If he were real, why would one even want to praise such a terrible entity in the first place?

@@susandraluck25 All that is true and it fits the Shroud exactly. There were multiple clothes when Jesus was buried. The face cloth was used to cover Jesus's face when he was brought down from the cross. This face cloth was buried with Jesus but not touching Jesus's face. The Shroud edges were cut into strips and those strips were used to secure the Shroud to Jesus. These same stripes of linen were then restitched back into the Shroud which scientists have identified. Also, the burial custom of the Jews was not exactly the same in the Jewish community because the Rich, middle class, and poor were buried differently. Jesus had the privilege of being buried by the rich man, Joseph of Arimathea, in the rich man's tomb. All piece of evidence proves that this is the burial shroud of Jesus.
@@susandraluck25 ...Yes, the face cloths - used to cover over His disfigured face when taken from Cross to tomb. The strips were ties, they were apparently gently wrapped around a dead body - to hold a burial cloth in place. These were found rolled, so the Gospel says - but we don't know what happened to them, right? No Jew would have ever removed blood or bloodied linen from the tomb after it was sealed, as it was part of the person's soul... Except for the miraculous 'impossible' disappearance of the full body itself - which threw so many incredibly shocking thoughts and considerations into the air... Someone who knew the true Divinity of this 'Man' - the Messiah - broke all protocol for 'revolutionary' reasons and took the shroud - and carefully hid it... And probably as a group, the disciples, who knew it needed to be kept - but kept fully secret from all around them - did God's doing, at least as they saw it. Who would destroy such a thing? It would never have survived if it had belonged to anyone else - not for any reason. We, followers, have a factual image of the Son of God (swollen, broken, bloodied and bruised) - a hint of His awesome physiognomy - taken at the very moment that He metamorphosised into spirit at His Resurrection. It's mind-blowing - like few of us can fully comprehend - me included... It's a 'photographic' image recorded in an instant in historical time of the greatest Miracle since the Creation of Life... The gift from God of His and our Eternity marking the very moment the resurrected path was struck of His only begotten Son to all who choose to take it. ...Whoa. God be praised.

In the early 1990s, i watched a video on maybe History, A&E or ?. It documented with a live model the markings which would occur from known injuries present on the shroud and how they would be effected by the body having been on the cross then later lying prone. The amazing facts which were disclosed by this process are the following: 1. The image was made when the feet were NOT standing, but hung down limp and 2. When the image was made, the hair was falling down beside the face as it does in the upright position, NOT falling back onto the surface behind the head. 3.Conclusion: The image was made by some unknown, maybe super atomic event which seems altogether believable in the case of a resurrection of the body suspended upright in mid air. Yes I have heard this before. I remember seeing a video quite a long time ago that the weave is different closer to the body of the Shroud rather than the outer piece where they took the sample they did that not want to compromise the material closer to the body image on the Shroud however the outer piece of the cloth where they took the sample was repair work after the Shroud was damaged by heat from a fire that occurred where the Shroud was being kept as evidenced by the burn marks on the shroud and the weave is slightly different where the sample was taken.
There is 3d information on the cloth...it was the result of Jesus's transformation from his body to spirit. The energy it took to do that left the impression on the shroud..
@@willscheck8072 are you sure there is not another cloth with even more detailed information of His face? and why would you assume that the power which produced the image could not have traveled through a piece of cloth to produce the image on the Shroud?
@Pat Last why do you even care about this read your bible and pray and forget about this distraction. that is my suggestion if you are a member of a 501c3 church i would go elsewhere. if you serve God and speak to him why don't the two of you talk it over between yourselves. and see what he says, if you can't hear him for yourself then you have bigger issues beyond a piece of old rag.
@Pat Last if he told you that it has to be backed by the written word . it is not the 3 witnesses are listed in scripture the shroud is not on the list.i don't know what spirit you are listening to probably your own heart not Jesus .
I don't need a piece of cloth to know that Jesus Christ is real, His Spirit lives within me. He lives in ALL who truly believe in Him. Relics and even miracles don't change the heart, only the Spirit can.
I met with and gave my life to Jesus Christ in March 1964 and shortly after read a book on the shroud. He gave His life for us all and longs to take us to Himself (including you dear Barrie) by forgiving us by His shed blood in order to take us to be with Him for eternity. I long to be with Him having followed Him for so many years. He is altogether lovely.
Jesus is real. 🙏 That's simply the truth. He rose again, so we can have eternal life too. 🙏 Only believe, ask with a sincere heart and the truth will set u free...

In the Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the other grave clothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded, and was placed at the head of the Stoney grave. Isn’t that amazing that scripture would speak on a fact so many thousands of years later.
For 7:00 it is hard that the burn shape holes in the Hungarian Pray Codex are coincidence because that drawing is very low resolution, very simple lines, not much details. But those 4 or so burn shape holes are in clear crisp detail. Like a high importance information detail on that drawing.

I believe the Shroud is legitimate. Real human blood, and the Image on the Shroud is on the extreme top of the fabric (not soaked in, like paint would be).
It's fake, and not a very good fake at that. This was a medieval concoction by a not very good artist. There are serious anatomical problems with the image. Jesus' face, body, arms, and fingers are unnaturally thin and elongated, one forearm is longer than the other, and his right hand is too long. The man is improbably tall, between 5' 11½" and 6' 2" tall. Jews who lived in the 1st century were much shorter than this. (If Jesus was really this tall he would have really stood out and there would have been no need for Judas to point him out to the Romans). The head is disproportionately small for the body, the face unnaturally narrow and the forehead foreshortened, and ears lost. The front and back images, in particular of the head, do not match up precisely, and the back image is longer than the front. The back of the head is wider than the front of the head. The hair is hanging straight down, as if the man was sitting. As for blood, all the forensic tests specific for blood, and only blood, have failed. While there are traces of iron, proteins and porphyrins which are found in blood, these are also found in artists' pigments. There is no trace of sodium, chlorine or potassium, which blood contains in high amounts and which would have been present if the stains were truly blood.
@@plainsman look at Noah. We have the coffin of his wife, who was shorter than him. She is estimated to have been 18ft tall, as calculated from the bones of her finger. Preflood man was of a larger stature. This is factual evidence, as opposed to your new age psuedo science. Man is now much smaller, and lives way shorter life, from hundreds of years (falsely claimed as "Neatherdal skulls), to just 120yrs, to now rarely hitting 80s. So your Fantasy of shorter humans in Jesus days is simply non factual "circular reasoning". Causing doubt in artifacts of Christ (the shroud) puts you in a really dammed position. There is no pigments on the shroud. The simple knowledge of how a shroud would be placed over the body explains the narrow effect which still recreates a perfect 3d image and is an impossibility for any man or machine made image to be negative image, providing it was a supernatural event from inside the shroud. Negative images are only made in camera film, and an impossibility to be on a cloth without any pigments so it is misinformation spewed to say the shroud had any picture painting pigments or burns, of which none can create a 3d negative image.

I remember reading the Nat Geo story about the Shroud when I was a younger man. I believed then that the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead left an impression on that cloth. 10:00 Wasn’t it repaired after the fire by French nuns & that’s the place they took their sample from? Also, there are ancient paintings of the Shroud being displayed for viewing, held along the edge by many hands. So, the edge would be contaminated for carbon dating as well.
The Bible says, the cloth which had wrapped Jesus' face was found folded up in the tomb where Jesus laid! I presume Jesus' face was wrapped with a separate piece of linen because He knew that this would happen in the future!!!
AMEN. searching the method the Jews prepared the body for burial states that the head was wrapped separately in a square cloth/napkin.. I don’t need any evidence to believe that My Lord and Saviour lived and died and rose again.
This is a recent creation probably burned in. This is pure disinformation at its finest. Pure lies with a fabricated name. How could his name have been jesus when he died 1500 years before the letter J was even invented? These people lie so much I bet there is a plan to create a guy named Jesus who returns and claims that name and tell the world we need a one world government. And he will probably be with genetically engineered giant people. People are snakes and very sneaky and power hungry. You cant put anything past current leadership.
Exactly what I thought! People just really want to believe it was Jesus, no matter if a scripture might give you pause to reconsider. I think, that in Gods great wisdom, and knowing just how carnal man is, that he made sure the grave cloths were completely destroyed through natural means.
There once was a time where the shroud was in the chapel, the Air Force Academy in Colorado. Some how a figure of the shroud was presented in a room where you can look through a small window from a door at the figure, I fell to my knees and could not stand, weeping in tears, and I will never forget that day.
The shroud is mysterious , no other article of its kind with all its properties exists in the world , it’s unique, why is there just the one ? If it’s a fake the creator must have concealed his method in doing it meticulously and how it was created has never been replicated only the one time , how could this be ? This in itself is bordering on the miraculous !!!!
Do you have any idea how many fake "holy relics" there are out there? It was a huge industry in its time. Each one sits in its gilded case and is venerated and worshiped by the faithful. Doesn't make any of them real.
If there is no paint? No hint of the interaction of man? Then the logical conclusion is,That it was made by God! Accept that there is a higher power than yourselves!
Image worship is the end goal here. I have a friend who worships the replica of the image from shroud of tourin. Even if it was true, why was it not mentioned in the scriptures and the gospels? Imagine people interacting with your image and ignoring the real, live you. That is the PLAN here, to elevate something to the level of WORSHIP than the ONE true who should be worshipped. And Yahweh says "I shall not give my glory to ... images"
@@LibbySlaughter101 True. But that is the first stage of disobedience! Why do you have it in the first place? Exodus chapter 20 prohibits it "Thou shalt not make unto thee ANY graven image, or ANY likeness of ANYTHING that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth." Stage 2 of the disobedience starts with verse 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;"
@@biruk8617 You'd best go & clear out all the Protestant bookshops in that case. There are pictures of the Lord Jesus everywhere. Right. I'm sure you don't worship them do you? In my case I couldn't even tell you what happened to that picture.

Is believing in the authenticity if the shroud essential to one's salvation ? No , it isn't . Is believing on the Lord Jesus Christ essential to one's salvation ? YES , IT IS ! I have no opinion on the shroud either way , but I do have an opinion about Jesus Christ : that He died for our sins , according to the scriptures ; that He was buried ; and that He rose again on the third day . This is the gospel ( 1 Corinthians, Chapter 15 , v.3 an4 ) . Christ sacrificed Himself and shed His blood as a payment for our sins , " for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood , to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past through the forbearance of God "( Roman's, Ch.3 , v.23 to 25) . I can take or lea e the shroud , but not in my own life at least , my Saviour Jesus Christ. Trust only in Him , He will never cast you out if you do ( John , Ch.6 , v.37 - a promise on that , by Jesus ) .

There is no god
NO SHROUD of Turin in the gospels ...
I started to think about the Shroud some time ago because quite a lot of UA-cam channels claim that it is 100 % sure the burial cloth of Jesus. So I did what Paul said:
1Thess 5,21 but test them all; hold on to what is good,
I searched for all the relevant "burial" verses in the gospels and I did some basic Greek word studies on BibleHub:
Mk 15,46 And Joseph bought linen cloth [SINDONA, singular] and taking him down, wrapped [ENEILESEN] him in the linen cloth [SINDONI, singular] and laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock.
(2) JOSEPH > purchase
If SINDON must be understood as one large piece linen only (like the Shroud) - where the bandages (OTHONION) and the head cloth (SOUDARION) came from?
(3) SOUDARION Shroud
If the complete body of Jesus was already wrapped/bound by Joseph and Nicodemus in something like the Shroud - why there was a need to add a head cloth? Also Lazarus wore a head cloth when coming out the tomb himself but how it was done in combination with something like the Shroud?
(4) SPICES > stains/particles
Nicodemus organised a 32 kg sticky mixture of myrrh and aloes.
(5) WOMEN > anointing
After Sabbath the women came to anoint Jesus.
How this worked if the body was completely wrapped/bound in linen with the spices?
To get access at least to his head they would have had to remove/destroy the wrapping!?
FAZIT: To bring all the gospel information together ...
o without twisting the Scripture,
o not assuming/inventing something,
o and only considering the gospels' context,
... I would claim the following:

@@jerrypotter4137 The linen shroud is different from the facial veil. The Catholic Church may have both-the Shroud of Turin and the Veil of Manopello. 1. Finding a pure linen cloth completely intact but also having severe electromagnetic radiation damage on linen equal to that of Dead Sea scrolls we know are over 2000 years old.
2. Cloth must up to 2000 years old
3. Cloth must be 14 feet long by 3.5 ft long completely intact 8 x 2 cubits.
4. Cloth/the linen the individual strands must be bleached before weaving. A process Called Hank bleaching. A method they stopped doing in the 3rd or 4th century
5. Pattern of weaving is in the pattern of the bones of a herring fish...an ancient style of weaving that originated in Egypt and Syria before time of Jesus. Herringbone weave.

True that believers don't need it. The shroud is for the non-believers!
Physical evidence aside...as a fine portrait painter, my first look at the Shroud and I knew it was miraculous.
The style fits with it being a 14th century portrait, definitely not of a corpse. You ought to read Baudolino by Umberto Eco.
Too bad it isn't Jesus though. If we compare what scripture clearly states, we can know it is not him.

You have nothing but preconceived notions of what we atheists are like. Most of us were once practicing christians who thought about it and saw too many holes and contradictions. But of all people, we are certainly the most open to being shown some, any, evidence for the existence of god. We beg you believers for anything hidden to be shown, uncovered, affirmed. Yet we get nothing, because you have nothing. We are definitely not afraid, only disappointed.

I'm a believer in Jesus Christ and I do not believe in the shroud as it clearly seems to not fit with the Word of God.
Imagine how it must've
been, inside that tomb, when Jesus was resurrected!!! God's GLORY!!!!❤️🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Wow that gave me chills, beautifully said.
The people in Japan, who were bombed in WWII, by the Atom bomb..the shadows of some of those unfortunate people still exist, burned into the cement, where they died... TO THIS DAY ! The radiation from bomb is the same radiation as that suffered from those at Chernobyl.
And this is exactly word for word what he said: "What are you going to do with it?"
I IMMEDIATELY knew how special it was and how powerful it was. And before i could stop myself I said something with the intention to let Jesus know that I knew how special it was and that it needed to be PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS.
So before i could stop myself i said something kinda stupid and still regret it just a little bit. Here is what i told Jesus when he asked me what i was going to do with it, and this is word for word what i said: "I will keep it in my Heart and GUARD it like a DRAGON."
And then Jesus disappeared.....and here I am several years later still alive by the Grace of God and his oldest Son, Jesus Christ. Otherwise known as Amen. And here i am still alive with it in my HEART and there is NOTHING IN THIS WORLD THAT CAN TAKE IT FROM ME. Amen!!!!

Remember, Jesus had been beaten. No telling how different he looked after the beatings from his normal self. 🙏🏻
@@jettyharrison4377 There is a Scripture that says - People hid their faces when they saw him. - His face was distorted in some way.

Not now! He came to me in a glorious amazing dream in 1973, and He is breathtakingly beautiful. He does not look now like He did when He walked the earth. Nor when He walked the earth, did He look like He did in eternity past! He is Perfect in beauty.

Hallelujah I’ve been looking for this interview for ages! Thank you Barrie Swartz! Maybe one day I can thank you in person as I was JUST beginning to take a second look at Jesus and his Biblical story as something profound had inspired me to do so and I came upon the Shroud and your story and it was crucial in me finding my faith that Jesus is the real deal.
Exactly. Wondrous and miraculous!!
It has also been discovered that there is a flash of light at the moment of conception! 🙏🏻
true!!
Fabulous!
@Whyare Youasking that is correct and there is two times in the Bible where HE said let us go down one was the creation of man the other was the Tower of Babel
How marvelous it is that your innate cultural lack of emotional attachment to the shroud of Turin magnified its authenticity! P.T.L.

Read the Gospel accounts. There was more than one cloth. Read the account of Lazarus’ resurrection his burial cloths in Gospel of John.
Truth
(...Which match the blood patterns and blood type.)
...Also, there would typically be binding strips. These were how this 8x2 cubit typical burial cloth of the time was then kept in place.

Also, the face cloth is actually the sudarium of Oviedo that's in the museum.. go and do some research. Then even if that's not 100% compelling... explain how can a body in a shroud release 32 trillion watts of UV light in a split second to form the image on the cloth... as scientists suggest is the amount of light needed to form the image???
If anyone remembers or knows of this video, I would like to have info to purchase a copy of it. It also detailed microscopic plant pollens which were able to be both dated and geographically located in the correct time and place of Christ's crucification.
John 20 :7 tells us that his burial clothes were in two piles not one
@@willscheck8072 are you sure there is not another cloth with even more detailed information of His face? and why would you assume that the power which produced the image could not have traveled through a piece of cloth to produce the image on the Shroud?

In the Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the other grave clothes.

Barry is such a likeable bloke. I love listening to him. Really hope and pray that he would accept Jesus as his savIour. Last I heard he still did not, which is baffling. Any news on this?
Barrie is believer.
Faith......
Without faith we do not please God.

FROM THE MOMENT I HEARD OF THE SHROUD OF TURIAN, I WAS A BELIEVER. I THINK IT WAS THE HOLY SPIRIT. LETTING ME KNOW THAT IT WAS THE LORD'S SHROUD.
I have never doubted either ever since I heard of it.
TURIN my friend
Me too.❤️😁🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌👑❤️
this shroud and there have been many was carbon dated to 13th century by the Swiss.
10:00 Wasn’t it repaired after the fire by French nuns & that’s the place they took their sample from? Also, there are ancient paintings of the Shroud being displayed for viewing, held along the edge by many hands. So, the edge would be contaminated for carbon dating as well.
Wow my Lord is amazing. True living God, hallelujah, Amen
You cant put anything past current leadership.
could that be the piece we have yet to find?
@@lleestimer2547 Look for Sudario de Oviedo.
I think I’ve met this man in Santa Barbara. Fascinating story.
Love lifted me
I'll tell you how the image was made on the shroud. Jesus body was transfigured and the energy that transfigured it made the image on the shroud
Exactly
@@kimpozon8230 I have no clue what that energy is
In accounting it is called "cooking the books." The last three years has had gargantuan "cooking the books" starting in January 2020.
I thank you sir. Love in Christ. God bless.
Love this guy!!!
Amen.
It’s impossible for the Shroud to fake! Impossible!
there have been many shrouds over the years all fake . this one was carbon dated to the 13th century by the Swiss.
And Yahweh says "I shall not give my glory to ... images"
@@biruk8617 I used to have a picture of the Shroud of Turin in my bedroom but I never worshipped it. It's possible.
@@LibbySlaughter101 True. But that is the first stage of disobedience! Why do you have it in the first place? Exodus chapter 20 prohibits it
"Thou shalt not make unto thee ANY graven image,
or ANY likeness of ANYTHING that is
in heaven above, or
that is in the earth beneath, or
that is in the water under the earth."
Stage 2 of the disobedience starts with verse 5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;"
@@biruk8617 You'd best go & clear out all the Protestant bookshops in that case. There are pictures of the Lord Jesus everywhere. I think the point lies in the worship of the image rather than the Lord Himself. Only God would be able to make a judgment here. Do you not have photographs of your loved ones adorning your house? Right. I'm sure you don't worship them do you? In my case I couldn't even tell you what happened to that picture.
the answer to your question when you stated "it had to be something between the contact of the body and cloth"... The Answer is the Explosive display of light as the resurrection took place, Jesus prophesied earlier in his ministry to Martha when he came to resurrect Lazarus, he said to her question concerning Lazurus - I am the resurrection and the (light)
Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life, NOT and the (light).
Good to see you Barrie 🕯
Not all of us who wander need salvation, because we are not lost, merely exploring our surroundings in peace.
Great video/ interview. Wow!
I had a supernatural experience Vision of Christ years back and the closest I have ever seen was the face on the shroud.
Same here thank you for validating my doubt that it was just my mind being biased toward the shroud
I attended a prayer meeting a Number of years ago, at Saint Thomas Catholic Church in South Wales, UK. At the end of the prayers, the Holy Face of the Shroud of Turin, appeared around the Crucifix on the Church Altar. All present witnessed it. It is something that I will always remember. So yes I believe the Shroud is one hundred percent authentic.
Thank you.
Truly fascinating!
The shroud is authentic and that is the image of Jesus Christ.🙏
I've always felt like it was real! And, I believe Ron Wyatt also. His stories and investigations in archeology and historical cites mentioned in the Bible have been proven true! And, I felt that too!! The impression stain on the shroud should be blood tested. 🙏🌎
No, the Shroud of Turin is fake. God does not deal in trinkets.
Actually there is paint on the Shroud. However that paint has nothing to do with the Shroud's images or blood stains.
In spite of the flawed carbon dating I have always believed the shroud is a true and beautiful relic of our great aGod and Savior. Amein. Halleluyah
It was AN EVENT HORIZON. WITH A SUPERNATURAL ASPECT. ( Amen and Amen again)
Wow so interesting for an uneducated old lady to listen to. Much respect sir. 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
