I would love to see a video about Force Weapons. I've always found them to be one of the coolest types of weapons in 40k and there's more than enough lore for a video. In brief, Force Weapons are created for Psykers, each weapon specifically attuned to its wielder and often created by them. They are made with a psychoactive core so that the Psyker can mentally connect with the weapon and project their psychic power into the blade. When a Psyker strikes with a Force weapon, the blade acts as a conduit, allowing the Psyker to channel their power directly into the body of their target.
@@flyingmissdaisy The Emperor's Sword is described as a Relic Blade, which is a special type of Power Weapon. If it were a Force Sword, Guilliman wouldn't be able to use its powers, since he is not a Psyker. There is a suggestion that the Emperor infused some of his own Psychic power into the blade, but that's something else entirely.
The Thunder Hammer has to be my favorite just because of the "-Thankfully he only glanced you -It didn't feel like a glance -Trust me, if you are still alive, it was just a glance" quote from the night lords trilogy. Really shows the power this weapon holds!
The Space Wolves have a variant of Power Sword & Axe, which have on their blades, teeth of the Kraken of Fenris, called "Frost Blades/ Axes". These Kraken teeth are hard as diamond and when the power field is activated, they make the blade shine like energized pieces of ice. They don´t freeze their targets on impact though, which would be even more awesome.
14:00 Fun fact: Deathwatch Watchmasters are also known to carry Guardian Spears, though they call them Vigil Spears. Dunno if there's a lore-reason for why they get to carry Custodes' gear, but it's neat.
My understanding is it was done as a show of respect for what the deathwatch does. Which i think is understandable. The deathwatch isnt big on glory or personal pride. Setting aside such feelings is important cor joining, cauae theyve got a job to do. Add in the idea that they also have a job that amounts to "keep an unending watch" and it wouldnt surprise me if the custodes actually feel the slightest bit of camaraderie with them. As for the different names, it's cause a vigil spear is outfitted with a fire selector so they can use the deathwatchs special issue ammunition.
My absolute favourite is the power flail. Only used by rare elite units such as Dark angel knights and nurgle champions of the deathguard. Similar weapon can be mounted on a chaos dreadnought known as a power scourge.
Hey Wes I just want to say thank you! You were the first person I saw talking about 40K and you drew me in! Since then I’ve started to get into tabletop along with audio books! I just wanted to tell you a big thank you for introducing me to 40K!
As a fan of the Raven Guard, lightning claws are a favorite of mine. Haven't noticed if you've done a vid or series on Eldar weaponry. Things like the Harlequin's Kiss or their shuriken weaponry. Could be an interesting dive. Also: stay safe down there.
Another awesome video! I can't imagine how long they take to make! I'd love to hear more about the weapons, and gear, of the imperial guardsmen! Videos like these are mainly how I learn about the 40k universe, and I think it'd be really cool to hear about the His army! Is the gear the same for every member? If not, are they exclusive? Do you have to be granted access to those weapons, or can you just pick them up off the battle field? I can't wait to watch your next video! Take care
To add a bit of context to the bladeless power weapon that uses a power source, that is known as a Sollex-Aegis Energy Blade and is an extremely rare weapon that was rediscovered from a long lost strand of archives within the Lathe Worlds of the Calixis Sector; It's essentially a protosaber from old Star Wars canon and I personally have turned it into what is essentially an archeotech version of a lightsaber by adding an infinite power source that recharges itself as it is activated in an Only War game I'm running (although the weapon itself comes from the Dark Heresy slpatbook Inquisitor's Handbook).
Dont think you gave the power fist enough love here, its a demi god encased in armour that increases his strength that has a attachment to destroy molecular bonds and increase strength multiple times.
12:44 you know what’s funny about this an actual scythe used in melee combat is more like a long bladed spear except that the blade is slightly curved so if there were power weapons based on actual war scythes they wouldn’t be as unwieldy or impractical as the ones based on gaming tools
Gotta say the criminally underrated power maul is one of my favorites, basically a flanged mace with a power field, even unpowered in the hands of a space marine it can maim other space marines with single blows…..in the lore at least 😂
Great video. I agree with the "quantity over quality" argument for the limited numbers of power weapons, but the cost is usually more than JUST the weapon. I feel that if you give an Astartes a power weapon, now he certainly needs better armor such as Aegis, Mark X, Errant, Terminator or Artificer. This is so the Imperium doesn't easily "lose" such an expensive asset to relatively minor engagements, he also needs to be exceptionally minded and trained for the same reason. The power weapon seems to be part of a "full set" of excellence at every aspect of armor, weaponry and training -an Astartes generally has all three (Although exceptions do exist obviously). This makes the cost of a power weapon exponentially higher than just the weapon alone.
The Power Sword is my favourite. Ik it's basic, considering the alternatives, but the sword is so versatile, so elegant and so efective, I can't not pick it as my favourite 😀
My own favorite power weapon is not just any power weapon, but a specific named weapon of a subclass of a power weapon you listed - The daemon hammer "God-Splitter" s, daemon hammers are a variant of thunder hammers that are made to be particularly deadly against daemons and other warp entities. They are blessed with sacred ointments and verses so as to have their mere presence near a daemon's form cause it to be undone. "God-Splitter" is of course the hammer carried by Gabriel Angelos of the Blood Ravens since the end of the OG Dawn of War, where Inquisitor Mordekai Toth gifted it to Angelos. According to lore, it has a piece of an Avatar of Khaine forged inside it, and since the AoK is my favorite 40k unit that just elevates God-Splitter to be my fav 40k weapon overall.
I think it'd be cool if you did a video on some of the forgotten imperial guard regiments. Like the Elysian drop troopers, the chemdawgs, or the mid guardian axes. (They're a little known regiment of melee assault troops belonging to the astral military. They're quite literally space human space Vikings effectively abducted from their planet and forcibly stalking the jet pack and turn out a window.)
I always though an interesting concept for a different style of power weapon, would be something like a momentum or grav/kinetic weapon. Something like a chain-mace or Meteor hammer like weapon that as you swing the mace/hammer around the momentum/movement of this action is stored in a handle of the weapon, and then using a hidden switch you can switch this to converting the stored momentum into pure gravity or kenetic energy focused in the head/heads/weighted end of the weapon. The amount of the stored energy converted could be controlled thru holding the switch for shorter, or longer periods.
i've always loved the lightning claw/storm shield combo. Followed by the simple elegance of a power sword- which is even better if paired with a bolt pistol.
IDK about this weapon being available in 40k, but in my personal experience a war club is not a bad option. It can be used to batter an enemy and cause damage through blunt force trauma. When small to medium spikes are employed it can crack lighter body armor. Being a club you can swing for the fences with it. It can be thrust forward like a spear as well. Even if you're fighting a guy wearing a helmet, he going to get a concision at the very least on a head shot.
Thanks for helping me get into the warhammer universe, your vids are always awesome and entertaining. If it's possible I hope to see a video on the ships of the 40k universe such as the terminus est or the dreaded planet killer. There's a ton of lore surrounding them and would make a great video.

They used dreadnought parts to make his armor, and he can sometimes look custodes and primarchs in the eye because he's super fucking tall and huge. He wields dual lightning claws that also have two chain swords on the bottom of each forearm. I like the lore behind the Power Hammer, a mining tool turned weapon in the hands of a Genestealer Cultist. They're almost exclusively family heirlooms, passed down from miner to miner, and treated with care for they know they're almost irreplaceable. Many have become crude devices over time, as housings and ornaments wear away or break off. They're invaluable for manual mining, as is often done in places where strip or blast mining might compromise a hive city. Before the Votann were unveiled, they made an appearance in my fan Squat codex for 8e.
I f****** love your shorts, you make me wanna play warhammer, I just don’t know how to go about it or even begin. You just make warhammer so interesting. Keep up the good work bro.
man i just found your channel thank you been a 40k lurker for years have armies and box sets and paint sets never used love the lore and at this point just owning the sets
well if we go purely by the name of the game, i do love me some 2h crush weapons. the reach and aoe of sythe is cool but i also love the tried and true sword and board.
Definitely the power fist. It takes a certain kind of genius to create a gauntlet that not only increases its wearer's strength but also wraps itself in a matter disrupting forcefield. With one of these you could dig through armor plate as easily as if it was loose sand.
You forgot one of the coolest power weapons: Corvus's power whip. Capable of entangling foes then tearing them to shreds when the power field activated. A weapon so dangerous I don't I've heard anyone other than a Primarch wielding one. I think some Dark Eldar witches might use them, but they're nucking futs in not sure they count lol.
The best power weapons are Eldar-made. Amongst the most exotic are the Triskele, a tri-bladed throwing weapon fitted with anti-grav suspensors that can allow it to strike several foes before returning to the owner's hand. The blades each have their own power fields, so a triskele can tear through armoured foes as easily as unarmoured ones. Similar is the Web of Skulls, a trio of diamond-hard crystalline skulls on lengths of chain, wielded as a flail, but which can be thrown to strike several distant foes before returning to the owner. Finally, the Harlequin's Caress is literally just a wrist-mounted disruption field generator. Enveloping the user's hand in a disruption field, their touch becomes deadly, and they can reach through a target's chest to pluck out their heart with as much ease as they would pluck petals from a flower.
Okay so my favorite official power weapon is the thunder Hammer thunder Hammer . Using a thunder hammer in combination with a jump pack in the space Marine game was one of the most satisfying things I have ever done in my entire life.
Could you imagine being some poor regular infantry unit, imperial or chaos or tau, just chilling out before seeing a >8ft tall behemoth running towards you out of the darkness with a pair of giant Fucking claws screaming about the emperor? This is why space marines are so effective outside of special fights, seeing that sort of thing would be trousers-soilingly terrifying.
I still love the fact that everything is called "Power", except for Power Claws and Power Hammers ... those are "Lightning Claws" and "Thunder Hammers"

See? The scambot agrees with me.
"Its better to go for quantity over quality." Tell that to the Tau.
Can you do a video on the tanith first and only guard regiment
I f****** love your shorts, you make me wanna play warhammer, I just don’t know how to go about it or even begin. You just make warhammer so interesting. Keep up the good work bro.
Thoughts on a T'au Battlesuit deep dive?

Thunder Hammer goes hard. Throwback to Space Marine, slaughtering countless Orks with swing after swing
Is the black sword from the black templar is it a power sword 🎉🎉🎉🤔🤔🤔🤔
Good luck, and be safe with the bad weather. And cover psyker weapons next please.
Till next time.
My bare knuckle fist is the only power weapon I need.
Lightning claws are my favorite power weapon, because LIGHTNING CLAWS.
maybe next time do indepth on ranged weapons
well if we go purely by the name of the game, i do love me some 2h crush weapons. the reach and aoe of sythe is cool but i also love the tried and true sword and board.
Definitely the power fist.
It takes a certain kind of genius to create a gauntlet that not only increases its wearer's strength but also wraps itself in a matter disrupting forcefield.
With one of these you could dig through armor plate as easily as if it was loose sand.
Gotta say my absolute favorite is the chainfist. There is something “super 40k” about a power fist with a chainsaw strapped to it
TIFO Weshammer lives in my home state!
An elegant weapon for a more civilized age.
0:00 Gabriel Angelos, coolest Chapter Master of the Coolest Chapter in 40K.
Go forth, Blood Ravens. "May none shall find you wanting."👍
love all the content man keep up the hard work because of your work I went into tabletop!
7:47 so basically a light saber
Okay so my favorite official power weapon is the thunder Hammer thunder Hammer . Using a thunder hammer in combination with a jump pack in the space Marine game was one of the most satisfying things I have ever done in my entire life.
So like the ability of Asuma Sarutobi
Is there a video that talks about those massive claws that Abbadon, Horus and even The Emperor has? Im curious on those.
love the vid bro, keep makin lore vids and ill keep watching them XD
Could you imagine being some poor regular infantry unit, imperial or chaos or tau, just chilling out before seeing a >8ft tall behemoth running towards you out of the darkness with a pair of giant Fucking claws screaming about the emperor? This is why space marines are so effective outside of special fights, seeing that sort of thing would be trousers-soilingly terrifying.
I still love the fact that everything is called "Power", except for Power Claws and Power Hammers ... those are "Lightning Claws" and "Thunder Hammers"
