Hey what's up Bigcdub! Thank you so much for your perspective! I'm going to pin your comment! It's the little things like this that truly show the differences that can't really be seen on camera and on videos. Both TVs are beasts though for the record! Enjoy fam!
You are one of the few remaining on youtube that didnt abandon qd technology. Nice to see someone not letting peer pressure get to them. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! QD-OLED still has a lot of head room to work with and grow. WRGB is virtually maxed out, even with MLA 2.0. We pretty much hit a color brightness/volume peak, and though they could push the technology brighter, there's no room to increase the color volume and color brightness. MLA 2.0 has already removed many of the filters that previously limited image presentation. It looks great on the G4 and simply amazing that they can produce this (mainly due to the A11 processor more than the filters being removed), but other than going from 3,000 nits to 4,000 nits of brightness (which the capabilities are there but we still aren't getting 3,000 nits out the G4 currently), I can't see the WRGB tech going any further. QD-OLED has a LOT of headroom and this isn't being talked about enough. When they push the QD OLED tech further next year, people will see what I mean here.
Agreed! If Sony fixes many of the previous A95L issues with this update, I would like to see updated reviews as that will change the narrative about the A95L, especially if they tweak anything processing wise.
Sony obviously felt that the 3rd generation QD-OLED from Samsung wasn't enough of an evolution for them to incorporate. However, it doesn't mean that Sony won't release a successor to the A95L next year. Coming from the Camera world I find it hard to believe that any manufacture can truly offer hardware upgrades for any technology on a yearly basis.
Now I know how great Oled is I’m thoroughly chuffed that I went for QDoled in the form of the a95l, I also have hearing problems & was stunned by the audio quality, so improvements in speech algorithms are always welcome…. It doesn’t compute that Sony would knock Lg off the top after 15 years then dump the technology. I got the Blu ray player (800M2) Next stop hta9 It’s so nice to look forward to a new movie and KNOW you’re getting it in the best quality Oh & Sony Core Pictures, let’s not forget that marvellous app, that blew my mind as I was breaking those pixels in😮
I agree! The G4 is definitely the NEWEST 2024 MODEL TV WINNER OF THE YEAR, but it doesn't mean it's better than the A95L across the board. They trade blows and this just makes the Sony better and more refined. Some people will say it doesn't matter that it's getting Amazon Calibrated Mode, but it does. That's just like saying Sony's backlit remote doesn't matter to LG's Toy Remote (I have one also so I know personally lol). It does matter in the premium space. It's always LITTLE THINGS that separate a more premium product from the competition.
I'm sorry that you're going through this, it sucks. I don't have an CEC issues, but I know they do exist. Sony is aware of this issue also, so I hope this is also included in their summer 2024 update.
I know little to nothing about software. Is it better to wait and buy the A95L when the software updates are available on the TVs or does it not matter. To me this means no different hardware needs installation now or when the software updates will be available.
I would go ahead and buy the TV now if you haven't already. It won't make much difference and most likely, unless you wait months after the update, a new TV in the store/warehouse won't have the update installed, and will still ask you to update the TV upon first run (they all do this). Enjoy your content/gaming now lol
Those updates aren’t necessarily thrilling on my end. Give me 1440p support at 60 or 120hz. I’d also like to see improved sharpness in Dolbyvision vivid or just some improved clarity or ai based improvements to reality creation. Otherwise I’m good.
Thank you for sharing your perspective! I feel you on where you're coming from though. We never know what Sony is actually going to include in this update though. This is only one part of it, and it doesn't mention the fixes that Sony has promised us as well as possibly some of the things you've mentioned here. Fingers crossed for it to include all the above!
Hey! I actually installed this update and have some content around it, but it's not the BIG Summer update we were expecting. This was just to improve some bugs that some people encountered. I may still release that video next week lol.
Not make sense this Company to leave a95l,Ive bean bought 77a95l set few days ago because of thoose fricken update too .Bravia 9 or anny mini led panel based tv technology is not my cup of Tee, expecialy with oled asking price.
There are several videos comparing the G4 with the A95L. Search harder. Fomo is correct. Sony did not purchase any 3rd generation QD OLED monitors to produce a tv this year. Amazon calibrated mode is as useless as netflix calibrated mode. They need to push a bit more brightness and change their tone mapping to compete better. The Bravia 9 still has blooming. It's still not equal to OLED.
As an owner of both a 55” G4, and a55” A95L, you can easily see the difference in 4K UHD Blu-ray content, A95L truly shines…

I need them to fix the CEC issue. I have to restart my A95L every day to get ny dedicated sound system to handshake properly.

The A95L is an early 2024 tv after all! I look forward to the update!
