Godzilla let Kong go as a sign of respect. Even after Godzilla beat Kong and was roaring in his face to either submit or die, Kong roared back in defiance, refusing to submit, like a proud king. In a sense. Kong earned Godzilla’s respect

Small correction: it's not Mega-Godzilla, its Mecha-Godzilla. In other words, Mechanical Godzilla.
I love the nod to the 1962 Toho Studios movie King Kong VS Godzilla. When Kong shoves the handle of his axe into Godzilla's mouth, it parallels the '62 movie when Kong force-fed Godzilla a tree.

Monsterverse not only has movies. It also has 2 tv show. an animated skull island show and a live action show called Monarch The Legacy of Monsters.

Godzilla: 😡, you: "he looks like he's smiling",..girl, that's a forever scowl on his face,..lol I'd be surprised and impressed if he could manage a surprised look, hear that animators?, cgi techs?, he always looks mad, and incensed about something or someone,..at least Kong can manage a smile, or look of surprise,...Godzilla's always in a mood,..so loved this movie,..didn't go see it in theater, and it is one of those movies you have to see in theater, IMAX, its just a big movie, fantastic characters, human and Kaiju,..so glad you checked it out, Godspeed, Peace ✌
Seeing Godzilla and Kong together after their first battle back in 1962 is awesome enough but brining in Mechagodzilla as well... Awesome. Also like I brought up last time the reason why skull island is destroyed is because of Ghidorah storm. So now he must go to where his ancestors and all the titans on earth came from the hollow earth. Now that you're caught up you have to watch the animated skull island show and monarch legacy of monsters then GxK the new empire.

These movies are the best
Godzilla let Kong live because he's not a mindless killer. He knows the difference between a good monster who needs to be put in his place and a bad monster who needs to just be deleted like Ghidora. I love King Kong but...real talk....he just made a mess of things in this movie. If he hadn't been around to pick a fight with Godzilla in Hong Kong then Godzilla 100% would have found Mecha-Godzilla and destroyed it before it was ever even activated. Which was what he was there to do in the first place. Think how many fewer casualties there would have been..
