    Kamikaze pilots actually attended their own funeral ceremonies before flying their missions. Losing face is everything in Japanese culture. "Godzilla" is an Americanization of "Gojira", which is what they're saying, the name comes from combining the Japanese words for gorilla and whale.

    • @SmittyBirdie
      @SmittyBirdie  17 днів тому +3

      That’s an interesting fact we didn’t know about with kamikaze pilots, and yes yes. When you pay close attention I believe during King of the Monsters on the intro it shows Godzilla and in parenthesis it says Gojira

    • @LanceLust1980HugeTheWarningFan
      @LanceLust1980HugeTheWarningFan 15 днів тому +2

      Yeah, they aren't saying Godzilla. They're saying Gojira. In both 1998 and 2014 the first word was Gojira. The 98 version, the news reporter even gets the name wrong, which the lady who steals the footage of the old guy lying in bed after being attacked by Godzilla says he said the name wrong.
      In 2014, the two Monarch scientists call him Gojira. Later the guy in charge of the details regarding what the military is going to do with Gojira calls him Godzilla. It's a bit of humor due to the different names

    Godzilla franchise is older than Star Wars. The movie gives a lot of dynamic, life after WW2, Godzilla resemble as a atomic weapon and possibly WW3, a disgraceful kamikaze, family, a relationship that is not confirmed verbally, and the ending part of killing Godzilla is a reference of what Kamikazes supposed to do during WW2. Great movie for sure! The theme song is very ionic as well.

Through the eyes of the citizens of Ginza, however, much like a real-life nuclear bomb scenario, the shockwave was incredibly fast, and there was nothing they could do except watch in pure terror as they were incinerated almost immediately after the explosion.

    Movie opens with the pride of Japan, the venerable Japanese Zero Fighter. Along with the fictional Odo Island and the monster "Gojira". The premise of the movie is the survivors of the "Tokyo Fire Bombing of March 10th, 1945." Mankinds worst, more casualties in one night & lost in history to the Hiroshima Bomb. As it was raining fire on Tokyo. December 1945, the "Black Market" scene introduced Noriko & Akiko to Koichi is brilliant; with it's vendors, harlots and rice runner. On March 1946, the one year anniversary of the "Tokyo Fire Bombing", ironically, Koichi is drenched in rain water instead of fire; shares he found a job. Another date shows the sinking of the "Takao" as it surprises Godzilla with bombs. The "Takao" was involved in the surprise attack of Pearl Harbor.
    On March 10th 2024, on the 79th anniversary of the "Tokyo Fire Bombing", Takashi Yamazaki & Crew is awarded the Oscar in Hollywood California. Takashi Yamazaki tells a great Japanese Post WII story using the great Japanese monster "Gojira", that people wouldn't be interested in anyway. Harley Davidson Motorcycle and the Japanese Imperial Army was a surprising discovery. As many others. The last line, Noriko looks to the side of the camera & says, "Is your war.....now, finally over."

    The dark spot on her neck was some of Godzilla‘s regenerated cells blasted onto her body that came off of him whenever he let loose his atomic breath and were blasted onto her, and those cells helped regenerate her wounds quickly. This idea was first introduced into an earlier Godzilla movie called “Godzilla 2000” and it is called “Regenerator One” it is a special regenerative DNA that Godzilla possesses. Which way they’re going to go with this and how this is going to affect Noriko is anybody’s guess.

      Shin Godzilla 2016 is my favorite Godzilla movie, Minus One is a close second. I recommend it, but many don't like it due to the story being somewhat of a satire. I'm not big on satires but I love Shin Godzilla. I didn't even realize it was a satire until it was being mentioned by everyone who reviewed it.
      Now, I gotta ask. Have you reacted to Nope 2022? That's my all-time favorite movie. Again, not everyone likes the movie. Some are distracted by a certain subplot in the movie that some don't understand how integral it is to the story and plot. I've seen it over 20 times, so I'm pretty familiar with it, and most who don't like the movie, I doubt they'd be willing to give it another chance.
      I can't claim to have understood the movie the first couple times watching it, but I enjoyed it enough to watch it a few times and then I started watching reactions. I've seen days upon days of reactions to Nope. I get disappointed when people don't like it, but it's fun to watch everyone react to it. The J7W1 "Shinden" was more than just a prototype; more than two units were actually produced. However, the war ended while adjustments were still being made. This movie is based on that historical fact.
      The Shinden boasted impressive specifications:
      Maximum speed: 750 km/h
      Armament: 4× 30 mm Type 5 cannons with 60 rounds per gun
      Bombs: Capable of carrying either 4× 30 kg (66 lb) or 4× 60 kg (130 lb) bombs
      With these capabilities, it was arguably the most powerful fighter aircraft of World War 2.

    I always thought Koichi should have dropped his bomb in the ocean as his excuse. The planes were only given enough fuel to get to their target, so without a bomb, a Kamikaze can't do a ton of damage. Landing on a bombed out runway, with nearly empty tanks and a bomb hanging from the belly would have been risky anyway. There actually have been WWII mines found floating free as recently as the last decade, so there are still some out there.
