      You can see the burns around his head and face after he uses it, which have to heal before he can use his "heat ray" again. In fact his whole hide is charred from the A-bomb blast, like it the 1954 movie. Godz is probably in constant pain, which fuels his rage and hatred toward the humans who did this to him.

      The producers scaled Godzilla smaller than the recent American Monsterverse movies, because they wanted it able to recognize and interact with humans on a more personal level. You can tell this Godzilla isn't just crushing humans as a side effect of it moving around. It's deliberately seeking them out to kill them.

What I got was a touching movie about the trauma of war and people coming together through tragedy in post-WW2 Japan that also happens to have Gozilla in it. Just 10/10 best godzilla story so far for me . The storyline , his journey from self hatred to finally fighting the demon in himself by the help of the girl and akiko , i gotta admit i tear up a couple of time in this movie . Also one thing that i like is how they portray the mass weight of Godzilla , like you can see when he step on the street of Ginza it make a crater , you feel his weight which is some of us didnt see the small detail . Even Monsterverse doesnt show that kind of attention of detail . If i'm wrong please correct me but this is just my own small opinion . Also this movie got the director to win the Oscar .

    This movie truly blew me away when I saw it in theatres. Undoubtedly, it is the Best Godzilla Movie I have ever seen, and it blew my mind knowing the budget of this movie was $15 million; compared to big-budget blockbusters today, that's incredibly small for such an incredibly good-looking movie. Yet, the visuals, writing, acting and cinematography are absolutely masterful. Everyone who worked on this masterpiece 100% deserved the awards it received.
    I love how the movie tied into the grim and horrific aftermath of WW2, plus the fallout of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Godzilla is an allegory for the consequences of tampering with nature with atomic warfare, and seeing how this film made you care for the characters and story was truly powerful.

    There are two theories regarding the black mark on Noriko's neck. One is that it's a form of radiation burn. The second theory, which I think the director has hinted at, is that Noriko came into contact with G cells (Godzilla cells). My guess the G cells from Godzilla's skin got into one of Noriko's injuries and helped her to heal. What this means for her in the future, if Toho decides to make a sequel, may have serious implications. A little bit of Godzilla history, the concept of G cells are explored during the Heisei period of Godzilla movies (1984 to 1995). They start with the Return of Godzilla and end with Godzilla vs Destroyah. I highly recommended those movies and the original 1954 Gojira (Godzilla); the Japanese cut of the movie.

    • @GratoNite
      @GratoNite 15 днів тому

      Heisei is a must see, however Return of Goji and vs Biollante is a bit slow and worse than the rest of the series. But, from vs. King Ghidorah onwards everything's going uphill. vs. Destoroyah is just perfect.

    • @NateL1992
      @NateL1992 13 днів тому

      It's already confirmed that a sequel is being developed. The director has stated that there will be another monster in the movie. Which monster? He said its a classic Toho space monster, so it could be one of three monsters: King Ghidorah, Gigan, or Hedorah. I didn't list Mechagodzilla because it hasn't been an alien machine since the 1970s, and I didn't list Spacegodzilla because its a more recent opponent.
      The infection by the G-Cell is definitely setting her up for something, maybe she'll become Biollante in the future? This gives them a story to work with if she's not a monster in the next film; Godzilla fights the alien while the girl tries to figure out what's going on with herself.

    For those that may not know, Godzilla has always had a healing ability. The older movies didnt have the technology we do now to properly show it, but they make it a point to mention that his regeneration is a problem. From attacking his nervous system, to electrocution and the Oxygen Destroyer, theres always a plan to try and take him down with science rather than conventional weapons.

    As a long time Godzilla fan, I am always happy to see other ppl enjoy a Godzilla movie. Just want to clarify two things (hope that didn’t sound mean, not my intention, I love hearing your theories). The last scene was Godzilla regenerating, hinting his return and a sequal. And the black veins, the director, I heard, clarified it’s Godzilla cells she’s “infected” with. That’s the best word I can describe it. But yeah I enjoyed seeing your rollercoaster of emotions on a Godzilla movie

      Exactly!! Black Rain and Mushroom Clouds. They didn't even mention the black shadows on the walls or the stacks of bones.
      The effect of WW2 on the Soul of the Japanese won't leave them. Godzilla, to them, is paying for their Sins of the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere ( "The Japanese Empire").
      Horrible crimes will be met with a horrible punishment.
      "Godzilla" means a lot to both the Japanese, the entirety of SE Asia, and the Americans.

    Awesome reaction. When he pulls the lever at the front of the plane at the end when he files it into Godzilla's mouth, that's the bomb lever the engineer told him he needed to arm, not a ejection lever. The ejection lever/mechanism is at the back of the pilot seat. You can see the head engineer points to it when he instructs him on the plane in the hangar. The director does a great job not showing the actual ejection being activated at the end of the movie.

    Many people say Godzilla heat ray in this film is just like nulclear explosion, but this heat ray is much better than actual nucleus. This explosion creates just powerful shock waves around Ginza area
    but actual nuclear explosion comes w/ fatal heat attack burning skins to be peeled from your body and can even turn you into human charcoal if you are close enough to the bomb dropped center.
    I'm glad people start learning about nucleus and knowing how Kamikaze missions effected people ,it should be from other historic sources like actual letters from Kamikaze pilots to their families before they leave to their missions.
    However,I feel more ''entertaining'' aspect of this film should be the intended goal , rather than serious''anti war' 'aspects.

    There were a lot of emotional scenes throughout the movie. You can understand and feel the pain, sadness, loneliness, loss, failure, fear, helplessness and hopelessness that Shkishima is going through. Btw the name of the track that plays most of the painful scene is titled "Pain". Listen to it. A very simple tune that changes tone/pitch to express all the negative emotions.
    I never thought I would get emotional in a Godzilla movie. It was sad and painful to watch Shikishima trying hard to pull his life together, but only to have the darkness symbolized by Godzilla to pull him back into the evil black hole. It was also tragically hard to see Akiko losing two moms in her short life.

    This movie definitely deserved to get an Oscar from the visuals acting as well as the music. I especially like it when they use Godzilla's original theme.
    Godzilla has always been known to be a rapid healer… This movie make sure that ability is undeniable
    Everybody calls at a heat ray or laser, but it's already got a name the atomic breath but hey either way it's powerful. It's destructive, call it what you wish.😎
    I love that the title represents exactly what this movie is showing us. Japan had absolutely nothing after Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed… And when they finally started to get their life back together..... Godzilla comes along and now they have less than nothing. In this movie, Godzilla is the representation of the lingering effects of what happened after the atomic bombs dropped on Japan... just like in the original 1954 movie.
    The Director, explained that the black mark on the woman's neck is Godzilla cells ... I'm just telling y'all what they said
    Actually, at the very end, it just shows that he's regenerating which means Godzilla is coming back 😎

    There's a deeper context when Gojira uses nuclear breath for the first time. When the bombs fell on Japan they were followed by a black rain (kuroi ame), the rain was made black by picking up the particulates kicked up by the bombs. People on the ground were covered in the rain which carried these highly radioactive particulates, and because the bombs destroyed much of the infrastructure a lot of the systems carrying running water did not work so some people drank the rainwater not realizing that it was radioactive which could not be removed by boiling or other cleaning methods. This rain increased the already tragic exposure to radiation of many hibakusha (people affected by the bombs). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Rain_(novel)

    I love Shikishima's character arch: a failed kamikaze pilot returned home in disgrace, everyone dumps everything on him and he feels the extreme weight of his shame, meets Noriko and Akiko and starts taking care of them (while still dealing with the shame), and finally regains his honor and his life in the final confrontation (and shows what a fearless fighter pilot he really was!) and comes home with a real reason to live; Noriko and Akiko (who was soooo adorable, btw!)
    Like Shin Godzilla, ToHo brings Godzilla back to what he originally was: an enemy of Man. a mindless creature bent on senseless destruction; a metaphor for war itself, and for Godzilla; the threat of nuclear war. I thought Shin Godzilla was the scariest incarnation of him since the original, but I'm mistaken, THIS is clearly the scariest incarnation of Godzilla! maybe half the size of Shin as well as Legendary, but the power of his ranged attack... worse than anything else ever done!

Sometimes grandiose isn’t about what worlds you can create with CGI. Godzilla minus one has proven it. It has heart. The director later confirmed the blackness seen on Noriko's neck is a result of G-cells. Ya know, Godzilla's cells. In other movies and literature, Godzilla and his cells are known to have amazing regenerative abilities... as well as the ability to combine with other things to grant the healing factor and amplification of intrinsic abilities. Biollante is the combination of rose and human dna with g-cells. Super Godzilla is a result of those same cells getting sucked into a black hole and then re-emerging from the black hole as a whole new creature very like godzilla but with a whole host of new abilities and attributes. It's very strongly implied that however she came into contact with the cells (probably that drop into the water next to him from the train), the G-cells regenerative abilities are what allowed her to survive the blast and look so relatively whole and unharmed so soon in the hospital. And the regeneration of that chunk of godzilla at the end... definitely a callback to another one of the better godzilla movies in the franchise, GMK, where all that remains of godzilla is his heart sinking to the bottom of the bay... and then it starts beating again. -roll credits-
