My big gripe about this film is that they are being surrounded in the ship by water from a broken dam, AND THEY HAVE THE GUY WHO CAN CREATE ICE OUT OF NOTHING AND NO ONE THINKS OF HAVING HIM FREEZE THE WATER. Oh look, ice man turns all the water instantly into ice and everyone is saved and JEAN ISN'T DEAD, WOW. If they were going to do this, they should have incapacitated him on the way to the ship somehow and mentioned "if only Bobby was awake he could help" or SOMETHING. But no. Jean dies for nothing just so they can tease the PHOENIX. Ugh.
@@jcj268 Tell that to all the frozen lakes and glaciers that exist. And none of them exist in a reality where there's a mutant who can spontaneously create ice out of nothing. 0_o
That actually doesn't make sense. If the X gene is on the X chromosome, either a mother or father could pass it to a daughter. If it is on the Y chromosome, a father could pass it to a son, but a daughter could never inherit it.
@@havok6280 The mutant gene is also entirely fictional, so it's not necessarily going to be bound to the same limitations as the real world. But more importantly, after a quick google search, I discovered that the location of the X gene actually differs depending on what universe it's in.🙂
@@havok6280 Agreed. The movie implies that males can pass the X gene on to their daughters, but that their daughters can't pass on those genes to their offspring, which makes no sense. Any gene a woman has can be passed on to their children, regardless of the child's sex. The only genes a male CANNOT pass on to a daughter are the ones on the Y chromosome, so if only males can pass on the X gene (a fictional gene, not to be confused with the X chromosome, which is a real thing), then that genes must be on the Y chromosome, and only males can be mutants.

One thing I've noticed. So many people who react to this movie always miss something. When Wolverine kills Lady Deathstrike (Kelly Hu), when he pulls the injection device back out, she looks up, dying. Her eyes have changed from a glowing silver color, back to her natural brown. Meaning in that moment, the mind control serum had worn off. So she just came back to conciseness, not knowing how she got there or why he's killing her. Something to think about.
I never noticed either but one correction. they established everyone is aware of their actions but are powerless to stop themselves. they mentioned it 3 times with Magneto, Nightcrawler and Cyclops all saying something like they could see everything but couldn't stop themselves.
I love how Nightcrawler is like pre programmed to give his full name when he introduces himself. Like the circus and presenting himself in that manner is all he knows.

Interesting when you said Cyclops is an integral part of the team yet he barely gets screentime. Listen, they treat Cyclops like he's a middle child in all the films. lol

Thank y'all for taking this journey, pretty cool to see Tara get introduced while Andrew kinda guides/ revisits this nostalgic franchise. Probably becoming my favorite duo. Stay awesome
The little exchange between Iceman and Wolverine in the kitchen was always my favorite scene as a kid because they were my two favorite X-Men. So I was glad they were becoming friends in the movie.
All of Bobby’s family were in Smallville. He was in season 1’s Leech and Shawn’s twin brother Aaron later played Jimmy Olsen 6-10. Mom played Metropolis Detective Maggie Sawyer on and off throughout the show season 2 onward. Brother played the kid whose brother was dying from that rare liver disease in season 3. He held the hospital hostage. Dad played the descendant of a juror who sent a murderer to prison. He was killed in season 1 by the murderer who could become young again.
That scene between Wolverine and Cyclops in the jet after Jean sacrificed herself is def underrated acting. Felt that since I saw it as a kid in the theatre.
Good call, Andrew! Bobby’s mom was in a few episodes of ‘Smallville’ starting with the season 3 premiere, as a police officer. She would reprise that role a few more times in later seasons but as a detective.
I remember my Dad being blown away by the first two opening sequence, Nightcrawler was awesome. Three best roars in cinema is Godzilla roar, T-Rex roar and the wolverine roar!
it depends on the shapeshifter, mystique cannot copy other powers she just can copy the form, but an example of a shapeshifter that can is morph, morph's shapeshifting grants him the ability to copy powers as well as copy the form it's just much less powerful than the original mutant, an example like they show in the animated series is that he can turn into the hulk and be really strong but he would pale in comparison to the real hulk raging out.
John Ottman's theme in one of the scenes where Nightcrawler enters the White House. It was one of the images that potentially saw Kurt use his great combat skills. Although he doesn't like violence!!! The actor was the best I saw, and even his appearance was scary.
-Jean sacrifice have to do with the fact she was scared to not control her powers and hurt people. Her powers were getting strong to a point she could loose control over them. In the first movie she barelly could lift a needle. Even Scott mention in the beginning about her nightmares making their bedroom shaking. She was trying to prevent something bad to happen. -Famke Jassen have some great villains... Olivia Goodfrey in hemlock groove, Ava Moore in Nipt/tuck, The witch in Hansel and Gretel, Xenia Onatopp in 007-Goldeneye, the professor in facultity. She was also in Taken with Liam Neeson, horror movie the lord of illusions. She is in a lot of things -Mystique did have the echo voice sound. In the first we could only hear in fighting scene. Since she have no dialogue. The only thing that chace was the eye contact for cgi and less makeup time.
When I was a little girl, there was an X-men arcade game that I *LOVED* and it was in the Pigeon Forge Pizza-hut. This was, to my best memory, the same one that would exclaim "I am Magneto, Master of Magnet!!" That game was my first introduction to Pyro. Kicked his ass with Wolverine. Master of Magnet kicked mine.
Tara losing her shit at the end cracked me up. It's an interesting perspective for someone who has no real history with X-Men. I can't wait for you guys to get around to First Class.
In the movies, yes that dynamic is written incorrectly, but in the comics and X-Men 97, it is basically that Jean cares about Logan, but is in love with Scott and will always choose him. Scott was poorly written in the movies as they were so overly concerned with putting Wolverine over, that they would constantly job Cyclops to get him out of the way so Logan could save the day. Scott is the leader of the X-Men it took X-Men 97 for him to get the respect that he deserved because these movies really did a number on his image
43:16 The actor's name is Peter Wingfield, a famous Welsh actor who is well known for playing METHOS from Highlander the Series. But, yes... He was on Smallville as well because both shows were filmed in Canada.
Funny how you say Deathstrike stabbing Wolverine from underneath was “Friday the 13th Juice” because the actress who plays Deathstrike was in Jason Takes Manhattan
"You should have k!ll3d me when you had the chance Charles!" Many many kids that grew up on the comics pronounced Magneto with the short "e" before the cartoon came out in the 90's and they actually heard the characters speak. You're in great company Tara! Edit: Just remembering how the theater erupted when Magneto stepped on the iron disc and floated to freedom!
The opening to this film is engraved in my brain from watching as a kid , I was blown away and always remember that lmao 😂❤ love the reaction guys yous are looking well 😊
If I’m not mistaken, during an interview, Anna Paquin was asked why she doesn’t close her gap and she answered something along the lines of “Why should I?” I love Anna Paquin!
Tara, that's a lovely sweater. The way you pronounce Magneto sounds like how we say it here in Brazil. ❤ And Nightcrawler is my favorite along with Mystique. As a nonbinary person, having the ability to change my appearance sounds like the best thing ever.
James Marsden (Cyclops) was not in this movie much because he was shooting the movie “Superman Returns” he was not done dirty… he was making bank elsewhere.
In 2003, I was in the 8th grade. My dad brought my brother and I to see this movie. My theatre erupted when Nightcrawler saved Rogue from falling out of the X-Jet. Had us out of our seats screaming and high fiving one another. Ugh what a time man.
13:35 mystique doesn’t get the powers. If you watch Xmen 97 Morph seems to get the powers, but not mystique and that is never shown in any of the nights.
If you pause at 13:41 you can see “LeBeau, Remy” that’s the gambit. And maybe around 3-5 years after this, they talk about bringing him to live action and that’s when Channing Tatum gets attached to the project. But since he was filming G.I. Joe, he couldn’t film for x-men origins/ Wolverine and the character was given to Taylor kitsch.
You can also see the twins Wanda and Pietro Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, Garrison Kane aka Weapon X, Keniuchio Harada aka Silver Samurai, Jamie Madrox aka Mutiple Man, Xi'an Coy Manh aka Karma, Kevin McTaggert aka Proteus, Danielle Moonstar aka Psyche (she was also called Mirage), Samuel and Melody Guthrie aka Cannonball and Husk, and probably others not shown in this video.
@@Morphop3 yeah , I caught those too. I was simply pointing out the gambit character because he makes a cameo appearance by Channing Tatum in the Deadpool and Wolverine movie
49:13 She's Yuriko Oyama aka Lady Deathstrike. In the comics her father created the Adamantium bonding process that gave Wolverine his Adamantium skeleton and claws. She gave her self the same upgrades and a few others and is a mercenary in the comics.
I don't know if you guys mentioned this later on in the video than I'm watching now, but no Mystique is not capable of copying the power is of other mutants. The only thing she can change is her physical appearance.
Mystique also have ability to heal faster. In the first movie shows that, after wolverine stab her. She also have super agility (show in the fighting scenes). She can even replicate DNA (showed in first movie with eye scan)
Don't think that "healing" was from transforming into Wolverine or even on the same level even. We see that during one of the end scenes were Mystique was already pretending to be the senator she wenced from the pain of the stab. And since it's fair to assume that scene takes place at least a couple of days later, her healing is not on a level that would even assume it came from transforming into Wolverine.
In the Golden Age of Marvel on film, this was one of the best sequels. The first time we had multiple releases for Marvel-based films in the same year. X2:X-Men United was after Daredevil and before Hulk. Such an incredible progression of story. Most us who knew the comics had an idea of what was coming. Meanwhile, newfound fans who loved the first film could only imagine what was coming. The actions of the gifted, good or bad are magnificently made and nerdgasms for everyone wanting more. But of course, the underline story of discrimination and tolerance in an fantastical world still comes through. The ending did indeed break hearts. But like i said, we as the fans knew what we saw right before credits rolled. X3:The Last Stand (2006) is considered controversial. You'll have to see why for yourselves.
Fun fact about the way Tara says Magnéto: we say it like that in brazilian portuguese, so she's not wrong! Edit: also, I love how this movie has a completely unique plot structure not only to the X-Men franchise, but on the superhero genre in general. The way everything is told is a complete original plot structure because it serves completely the thematic purpose of the story, and how each character presents a different way of dealing with the theme. It's an underrated CBM masterpiece imo
They did LOTR reshoots during ‘02 & ‘03 as they were editing the final two films, so McKellan was going back and forth a bit between New Zealand and Vancouver for the shooting schedules, but I don’t think there was a lot of overlap for him, thankfully.
Well Andrew, the dam fight scene in ‘Smallville’ was filmed at Ruskin Dam while ‘X2’s dam scenes were filmed at Stave Falls Powerhouse, Mission, B.C., CA. Not the same location but very close. Good eye!
30:35 The actor you noticed is Mike Dopud. He did stunts for every X-Men film, and had roles in (I think) three of them. The running gag is that he's always playing someone who gets killed like 3 seconds after they're introduced.

Its almost like the movies aren't the comics and they're meant to be their own thing. Crazy, right?
@@sugarbomb1346 Heh. 😏
40:24 well.... good thing they didn't go with their comics background. That's no way for Kurt to talk about his mother 😅
So if we're keeping the McAvoy as the actual prequels to these ones, then they did. Kurt though wouldn't know it.
@skyeperez8305 what do you mean by they did? Azazel died and she never hooked up with him and was never pregnant.
@@ENERDTAYMENTmany years past between First Class and Days Past, and she cried when she saw his autopsy photo. It’s just not addressed and possible off screen because of that.
Yeeah but it’s explained that is his mom in promo material i think but he doesn’t know
Thank y'all for taking this journey, pretty cool to see Tara get introduced while Andrew kinda guides/ revisits this nostalgic franchise. Probably becoming my favorite duo. Stay awesome
The little exchange between Iceman and Wolverine in the kitchen was always my favorite scene as a kid because they were my two favorite X-Men. So I was glad they were becoming friends in the movie.
I really love that Tara goes into these movies blind can't wait for her reaction on X3
The guard is Ty Olsson. He was Benny in Supernatural and is marrying DJ Quails
Had no clue they were gay. How about that. Good for them.
@@imwiththeunderhills2128 I think they’re both bi, but I could be remembering that wrong
🤯
@@imwiththeunderhills2128 I knew Qualls was...didn't know about Ty.
He also played a vampire who was with Lenore. In season 2 or 3 of Supernatural.

Ever watch Talkville?
@@richardthemagician8991 now I need Andrew to guest on Talkville
@@richardthemagician8991 yes. I’m one episode behind.
@@ceougin20 I went to their live event in LA back in May. I loved Smallville and I love Talkville.
That scene between Wolverine and Cyclops in the jet after Jean sacrificed herself is def underrated acting. Felt that since I saw it as a kid in the theatre.
X2, DoFP and now Deadpool & Wolverine are all tied for 2nd place in my X-Men related movie rankings. This movie is so damn good.
So happy you are continuing!! Love to have a channel that reacts to so many quality films and tv shows 😊
Good call, Andrew! Bobby’s mom was in a few episodes of ‘Smallville’ starting with the season 3 premiere, as a police officer. She would reprise that role a few more times in later seasons but as a detective.
20:08 Yeah That Was Kitty Before The Recast, In The First Movie Charles Calls Her Kitty Before She Runs Outta The Classroom Through The Door
I remember my Dad being blown away by the first two opening sequence, Nightcrawler was awesome. Three best roars in cinema is Godzilla roar, T-Rex roar and the wolverine roar!
Godzilla's roar is my favorite sound in the world.
Actually, every member of Bobby’s family and Bobby himself was in SMALLVILLE
it depends on the shapeshifter, mystique cannot copy other powers she just can copy the form, but an example of a shapeshifter that can is morph, morph's shapeshifting grants him the ability to copy powers as well as copy the form it's just much less powerful than the original mutant, an example like they show in the animated series is that he can turn into the hulk and be really strong but he would pale in comparison to the real hulk raging out.
The best opening scene and introduction to a marvel character in a marvel movie period.
24:26 I genuinely just had a flashback to Deadpool & Wolverine in the theater🤣
This is the best intro to any superhero movie!
Blade blood rave might want a word but yes this scene is dope
John Ottman's theme in one of the scenes where Nightcrawler enters the White House. It was one of the images that potentially saw Kurt use his great combat skills. Although he doesn't like violence!!! The actor was the best I saw, and even his appearance was scary.
The introduction of Nightcrawler is LEGENDARY!!!!!!
Rogue is fine as hell Anna paqiun is so amazing
Every time I go back to this film I am reminded how much I love it. It’s awesome seeing reactions to it and this was a fantastic one.
A bit annoying that this movie doesn't show up on Disney Plus when searching "X-Men" because the title is just "X2" in Norway lol
They should probably have tags.
taras go to move for every scenario: Storm, fog 'em up!! 😂😂😂
She is in a lot of things
-Mystique did have the echo voice sound. In the first we could only hear in fighting scene. Since she have no dialogue. The only thing that chace was the eye contact for cgi and less makeup time.
She was in Hide and Seek too
X-Men 2 or Spider-Man 2???
I love them both! But X-Men 2 goes hard!
Spider-Man 2 is the 🐐 imo
Spider-Man 2 has better action
OG Aunt may is the best in Spooderman 2
X-men 2 but I love both
All I remember is the White House scene with Nightcrawler teleporting all around lol
James Marsden was also filming the movie Strawdogs while doing X2. May be reason for his limited role.
When I was a little girl, there was an X-men arcade game that I *LOVED* and it was in the Pigeon Forge Pizza-hut. This was, to my best memory, the same one that would exclaim "I am Magneto, Master of Magnet!!"
That game was my first introduction to Pyro. Kicked his ass with Wolverine. Master of Magnet kicked mine.
Had to smirk at the Jackman/Cavill scream comparison...
My dad went to high school with the guy that shot Nightcrawler in the arm. I’ve always found that funny. :)
43:16 The actor's name is Peter Wingfield, a famous Welsh actor who is well known for playing METHOS from Highlander the Series. But, yes... He was on Smallville as well because both shows were filmed in Canada.
When I first saw him in this movie when it came out, I immediately went to Highlander.
"We'll be watching"... (Lightning Strikes).
Funny how you say Deathstrike stabbing Wolverine from underneath was “Friday the 13th Juice” because the actress who plays Deathstrike was in Jason Takes Manhattan
Omg never made the connection that was the same actress! I love it
Famke Jensen was in an episode of Star Trek: TNG where she introduces herself to Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) as a mutant.
Iceman's brother is a legendary Hall of Fame level hater lol
Extreme jealousy also.
Yeah the actress playing Jean grey was also in Hansel and gretel witch hunters as the evil head witch, it’s pretty good tbh
The way she uses her face is spectacular
The opening to this film is engraved in my brain from watching as a kid , I was blown away and always remember that lmao 😂❤ love the reaction guys yous are looking well 😊
Loved that Tara says Mangetto…it reminds me of Cornetto 😂 Thanks 👍✌️
I remember watching an interview with Ray Park for the first X-Men movies special features, and he pronounced it Magnetto too.
44:50 because James Marsden was working on Superman Returns at the same time.
Andrew's deep breath at the end because he knows X3 is coming up next...😂😂😂
When I was younger I used to ask my dad about magneto. But he always laughed at me cuz I always said it the way Tara says it! Love you Tara ❤❤
Wow… ‘Magneto’ the way Tara says it is how I used to say it as a kid reading the comics before the movies came out.. That’s so Awesome Tara! ✊
You can also see the twins Wanda and Pietro Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, Garrison Kane aka Weapon X, Keniuchio Harada aka Silver Samurai, Jamie Madrox aka Mutiple Man, Xi'an Coy Manh aka Karma, Kevin McTaggert aka Proteus,
Danielle Moonstar aka Psyche (she was also called Mirage), Samuel and Melody Guthrie aka Cannonball and Husk, and probably others not shown in this video.
@@Morphop3 yeah , I caught those too. I was simply pointing out the gambit character because he makes a cameo appearance by Channing Tatum in the Deadpool and Wolverine movie
Man I hope we see this team one last time in Secret Wars, perhaps even in their comic costumes.
49:13 She's Yuriko Oyama aka Lady Deathstrike. In the comics her father created the Adamantium bonding process that gave Wolverine his Adamantium skeleton and claws. She gave her self the same upgrades and a few others and is a mercenary in the comics.
Ice man’s brother Ronny is played by James Kirk, he was Sebastian in she’s the man and he was in final destination.
Currently rewatching Smallville for the millionth time, so I love the references
No Andrew No No... No tension for Mistique or Nightcrawler, as in the comics she's his mother...
Been loving this duo since Bad Boys 🙌
I don't know if you guys mentioned this later on in the video than I'm watching now, but no Mystique is not capable of copying the power is of other mutants. The only thing she can change is her physical appearance.
Mystique also have ability to heal faster. In the first movie shows that, after wolverine stab her. She also have super agility (show in the fighting scenes). She can even replicate DNA (showed in first movie with eye scan)
@@cassandramcbride7007 Yes but that's one of her natural abilities and she isn't copying Wolverine's healing factor.
“Thank you for the reminder” from Tara saying that is funny😂
In the Golden Age of Marvel on film, this was one of the best sequels.
The first time we had multiple releases for Marvel-based films in the same year.
X2:X-Men United was after Daredevil and before Hulk.
Such an incredible progression of story.
Most us who knew the comics had an idea of what was coming.
Meanwhile, newfound fans who loved the first film could only imagine what was coming.
The actions of the gifted, good or bad are magnificently made and nerdgasms for everyone wanting more.
But of course, the underline story of discrimination and tolerance in
an fantastical world still comes through.
The ending did indeed break hearts.
But like i said, we as the fans knew what we saw right before credits rolled.
X3:The Last Stand (2006) is considered controversial.
You'll have to see why for yourselves.
Famke Janssen in one of my all time favorite movies: The Faculty. Let's get a reaction!!
Great Reaction! Glad Tara is loving these movies. Thank you Andrew for being such a Scott/Cyclops stan!
Mad shout outs to Andrew Flash Gordon! For the Smallville dam room set and Tamara looks great!
They really lucked out by having Wolverine be the one that was watching the X-mansion
We also say it like that in spanish 🇲🇽
@@DanReyesB love it! Our languages are very similar in a lot of ways and I love Spanish and its variations country to country 🙏🏾
10:28 LOTR filmed all 3 movies in 1 year, and fellowship released in early Dec '01.
So id imagine both of these movies were filmed after lotr
They did LOTR reshoots during ‘02 & ‘03 as they were editing the final two films, so McKellan was going back and forth a bit between New Zealand and Vancouver for the shooting schedules, but I don’t think there was a lot of overlap for him, thankfully.
Andrew I love smallville!! You should convince someone to do a rewatch with you, I would be there for it!!
Nightcrawler is my favorite. I love how scary and demonic he looks but he is so sweet and kind lol.
20:17 Yes it's Kitty
It was actually explained in the first film that Logan already had his healing ability before Striker's experiments.
A few names on the computer 🖥 screen 13:41 might be familiar
