the ssd is a big one, i was getting extreme menu lag on my og ps4 and lots of crashes and no ammount of rebuilding database etc helped, but i got a SSD (250gb as i dont play too many games) and it runs flawlessly now.
Breydenss I got a samsung EVO 860 1GB I live in the UK for £139. And if you have a ps4 pro, installing the SSD is easy as there is a seperate area for taking out the ssd compared to old PS4 where you have to dismantle most of the PS4 to get to it.
If you plan on plugging out your light bar, don't. The light bar motherboard is connected to the main motherboard through a ribbon cable, but also the USB charging port is on the mini board
SSD-- I load up to a minute quicker into Destiny 2 tower before other clanmates. As well as, the "loading" areas where you get stuck, dont happen anymore. Its worth it for those things, but also the speed to download and install games. Wow.
Is there a minimum ssd size requirement for an older standard 1tb ps4. I have a 240 gb external ssd on order but since read it might be too small. Bugger.

If you use yours externally it more than likely has no limits. However I'd recommend replacing the internal with an ssd so everything runs of of it. I replaced my standard internal with a 1tb ssd and everything runs like a top.

To add to the ssd thing. I have a giant 6tb reg drive as my external and a 1tb internal ssd. Games I play the most are on the ssd and if I want to play something on the external I move it to the ssd. It's a great way to get the ssd benefits without having to buy the biggest ssd and plenty of storage to not have to delete things.
One outstanding feature on the PS4 that is often TOTALLY overlooked is the "zoom" accessibility. Extremely useful for small text and magnification. Works completely inside games as well with panning via controller. Enable it via the accessibility menu.

If budget is tight I'd recommend getting like 256 or 500gb ssd and usb hdd closure for old drive (cost is like 10 dollars) , that way you can keep few most played games on ssd and the rest on your old hdd. 100% would recommend for everyone
I have a first gen PS4 and I upgraded the hard drive to a 1TB Segate hard drive. It costs me $65 Canadien, cheaper than the new copy-paste Madden. Upgrading your hard drive on base models is the easiest upgrade you can do, there is only 5 pretty standard screws under that glossy portion of the console you can take off.

My PS4 pro used to sound like an airplane. I recently completely opened my PS4 (will void warranty) unplug and cleaned all fans, change the thermal paste for some Arctic Silver 5, replug everything correctly and reboot the PS4. Massive difference. I can barely hear my PS4 now and has more performance.
You have to take apart your ps4 and clean your power supply and cooler (it sounds scary but it's actually super easy). All you need is a phillips screwdriver, a t8 security screwdriver and a compressed air can. You can buy all those for less than 30 bucks at home depot and the whole process won't take more than 20 minutes from beginning to end. Watch a tutorial video for more details. Totally worth the investment
All it's doing is decreasing the brightness. Does your phone go slow when you decrease the brightness? No it just saves battery. It's a light, not an system
KcolbDnomaid bad comparison, if the controller has to relay information on what the brightness of the controller is set to instead of standard it could increase input lag, a phone doesn’t is completely different, look it up, a lot of the power save settings on ps4 increase input lag

Yup, does a ton for d2! Don't forget the menu/inventory screen for faster gear swaps, that was the most important thing imo.

Something random I like to do with the controller is that you put your pointer fingers on R1 and L1, then put your middle fingers on R2 and L2.
