    I always recommend people do these also for their PS4, and now (if lucky enough to have one), the PS5. A number of people used to think I was making it up, in particular clearing the cache. But even just doing that they saw the boost in performance. Doing these 2 steps, along with at least a quick dusting once a month should keep your PS4/PS5 running at or at least near its best potential.

    Moving your games to an external USB SSD will work wonders too, I suggest that over replacing the internal one if you plan to upgrade to PS5 later. This will save you a LOT of time as you can connect the same external drive to the PS5 and play all the games off it without having to redownload or transfer the game files from the old console.

      I got my PS4 Pro in 2020 because you couldn't get a PS5 even if you wanted to. When I realised the hard drive was so tiny and the game's were so expensive I purchased a new PS4 Pro on black Friday with some great game's. I now have 22 of the best game's there are, and a new HDR TV. If I had got a PS5 I'd only have around 6 game's, so like you said we'll be playing Game's for year's with all this content. This also applies to the PS3 in case anyone still uses that console but it's important to know that neither the PS3 or PS4 will take full advantage of an SSD upgrade since they use SATA II, only the PS4 Pro model uses SATA III interface which is strange but it's the only one that can take full advantage of an SSD upgrade.

    • @alphanerd2305
      @alphanerd2305 2 роки тому +6

      I don't really find it that strange. SATA 3 was launched in mid 2009. When the PS4 was launched, SATA3 had only been out for 4 years and was mostly only found in high performance computers. By the time the PS4 Pro came out at the end of 2016, SATA3 was the dominant standard for hard drive interface.

    I had a PS Vita that suddenly stopped working and wouldn't turn on.
    I plugged in the charger for an hour and held the power button for around 17 seconds until it booted in safe mode. From there I chose the rebuild hardware option, fixed it.
    Also if you have lag or NAT type 2 on your PS4 online try adjusting the MTU settings from 1500 down to 1450 or 1400, this will transfer a smaller amount of data more often.

    While this information is accurate in it's "how to" aspect, you shouldn't need to rebuild the database every month. In fact, every time you rebuild the database, there is a chance it won't succeed and will be left with no option but to format and start over (if it encounters an unfixable error). Only rebuild the database if there is an actual issue, it's not good advice to use this as preventative maintenance every month.
    If you are constantly rebuilding the db over an issue, that probably means your drive is on the way out and you should consider replacing it with either another HDD or an SSD.

    I was stuck in a safe mode loop. My console forced me to initialize (wiping the console clean) my ps4 pro 5 times. Thats when I did a little investigating and realize that my ps4 hard drive went bad. I never knew that was a thing. I then upgraded to a Samsung 2TB SSD. Before I found this solution, I assumed my ps4 was broken but simple as swapping the hard drive had fixed my issue. Just explaining what I came across so if anyone experience the same, thats all that has to be done. Good to help out👋🏽.

      Regardless if it's not fast enough, an SSD will basically ensure you the best speeds at all time; yes there is a cap on how fast the ps4 can process everything, but with a normal HHD, your speeds will still fluctuate and an SSD will basically remove that area of slow speeds for the ps4

    I remember I was having a few times where my console would randomly turn off and the connector to the console would come loose out of nowhere. I’ve had my PS4 Slim for 5 years and I decided to go with getting a replacement cord, actually turned out that was the problem and it’s been fine ever since. If anyone else has similar problems, it’s most likely just a cheap fix like a new cord and that should fix that issue, very minor and power cords out there are under $10
