Male Tropic birds chase and attack each other in competition for mating rights. To defend their nests from predators, Tropic birds behave aggressively towards other birds.
Tropic birds are medium-sized oceanic birds with pointed wings, highly elongate central tail-feathers, an overall white coloration with black markings on the wings. There are only three species of tropicbirds (genus Phaethon) in the family Phaethontidae.
Tropicbirds are usually solitary or in pairs away from breeding colonies. Tropicbirds generally nest in holes or crevices on the bare ground where disputes will occur between males trying to protect their mates and nesting areas.
