Fully paid trip to exotic country, decent pay no doubt, working with the god that is Attenborough, seeing first hand incredible sights etc etc. Can't imagine many people on minimum wage driving an Uber or packing boxes in a factory would turn down a job swap....

Most of the time in nature the female decides the guy is a chump or completely ignores him. In most nature docos they have filmed for days on end trying to capture the moment a female accepts the male.

Nature is honestly so amazing, I am really really amazed by this, it's strange how humans are so caught up in themselves and are so egoistic and think they're the smartest species on earth but there is so much beauty and intelligence in nature that baffles me and makes me feel grateful to be alive

I agree, but I cringe everytime someone sais humans are not the most intelligent species. This is instinct, nothing more than that. I'd like to see these birds build the ISS
TheTaltiko Actually, more and more reasurch points to the fact that instinct is not a compulsion, but learned by animals from their surroundings. Most likely then, the 'lack of intelligence' we see in their lack of building is not from them lacking smarts- they just don't need it, nor have the hands to build it. Humans require making things to survive, like clothes, spears, etc, which is why we do it so expansively. Birds, however have sharp claws for hunting, wings for fleeing, and feathers to keep them warm, and thus never evolved to build at quite the same scale that we have.
Nirvana ‘think they’re the the smartest species on earth’ show me another species that creates new technology every day. Show me another species that made a world wide internet. Show me another species that made overseas travel simple. No? That’s what I thought.
I love how humans like to put fitting music under birds performances, so it doesn‘t look as crazy as it does without. 😂

those are iridescent feathers. there's no colourful pigment in those feathers (the only pigment in them is melanin, a black pigment), it's the structure of the feather itself that bends light to form bright colours, like a prism. many other birds have iridescent feathers like this, such as hummingbirds, some kingfisher species and some cuckoo species
