Hi everybody. This video is essentially a movie of my life over the last two years from the first day of spring two years ago to the first day of spring yesterday. This is a video I've wanted to make since I started building the homestead - my evolution from a sheet metal worker turned corporate executive then to whatever it is I am today. It was fun and interesting to edit this video, especially since it's a lot of content and a lot of changes condensed into a relatively short hour and a half. This is my journal. If you enjoyed this, my weekly videos include over one hundred more hours of cabin life and wilderness living so please subscribe so you don't miss anything. There are ALOT of questions and assumptions from new viewers about how I film/edit/upload, if I replant trees, who the 2nd dog belonged to, etc. You will find all the answers in my previous videos. I have uploaded a video every week detailing the entire process over the past two years. Thank you to all of you who have been following my journey from the start and welcome those of you who are new here.

I'm skeptical of the whole alone in the woods for two years thing. He rather made several trips to stores to get certain materials, or just planned perfectly on what he needed to bring before he left. Also, the drone shots of him when he's ice skating, who was piloting it? Also Also, how did he charge his camera?
Being a person with a health problem I could never do what you have accomplished. Instead of actually being there I get to experience it through your videos. Thanks.
He didn’t accomplish this don’t feel bad. It’s just entertainment. It’s impossible to live in the wild for two years with no contact from anyone as this video title suggests, and build that shelter with those tools he had, and hunt and get food for him and the dog all at the same time. It’s complete bogus . It’s just for entertainment
@@b-rare I've also noticed he had to go out and get certain materials to build but..I think the guy was saying the depression/lack of drive and will would screw us...(more so that the material supplies and work)
@@kristinadk the title says “2 years alone”. All I’m saying is that’s bull shit. Just hunting alone for food to survive for him and the dog would take up 8-10 Hours a day. It’s crap . Let’s say he had another man there that did all the hunting , I don’t even believe one man with those caveman tools could build that much in two years . That’s another crap hole. Just a minute before I read your comment I was thinking; the person you were as a child is the person you are meant to be, before there is peer pressure and you didn't know about conforming to the norm. I believe that not living your own authentic life is the cause of depression and addictions. Many of us find it very hard to play a part, and sooner or later we have to go back to the authentic person we were as a child.
Who says you can't live the life you want and have an income? I've lived my 62 years exactly the way I wanted and always had an income - but usually just enough to keep doing what I was doing. If the life you want involves many material things, then of course you're going to have to be a slave. This man didn't start living the way he did until he had accumulated plenty of money, and I'm sure he has a fat bank account as a cushion for when he gets tired of his new lifestyle. @@kirksmith1973
I want to say this correctly I haven't seen good video like this since I was a child and I saw the movie Jeremiah Johnson. By the way one of my favorite. But here we have an award-winning video in my opinion A man truly determined and too stubborn to quit. You are the master of the outside my friend
Desmond Brady, Jeremiah Johnson is one my favorite movies, too. Saw it at the drive-in with my family when I was young. Another good movie is The Trap with Oliver Reed.
A few years ago I lost my Dad and my wife and family, so I drowned my series in a bottle of booze and pills. A couple years ago I went camping and it ended up with me staying in my tent for 2 years now. I live off-grid, not to the extent of this guy but I live in my tent in the mountains all alone. I am close to a big city and food shopping is not too far away from me. I took a job working from home and I love it. Being out in the mountains for 2 years now it has helped me through all the pain I endured. It is crazy how close I am t a city but still so far away. I will never live any other way again. Some times its really hard and money is always tight cause I work on commission but the peace I have found inside of me is priceless.
Amazing. Lost my 21 year old son in 2001 - 10 days before 911 and his mom died in a car accident when he was only eight. Never went to live off the grid but did go off grid in other ways still recovering. Some positive things - like connected with a beautiful women who I knew in my twenties. She said yes 4 years ago. Live in the mountain's and hope to never live in a city again. Power to you Brother. Hope all is well and you thrive in your heart and Soul.
its not like he never went back to the city for supplies, charging his equipment, etc. its not like he found the tree taps, buckets, fishing rods/line, hooks, saws, hammers, nails, lathes, drills just laying around out there.

Escaping to the woods off the grid has a calming effect on me. I am retired, worked hard for 48 years, and now have the time and a decent income to occasionally find real solitude outside away from the noise of traffic and lights. It’s not that I do not enjoy others because I do, but being alone in the woods provides an alternate healthy perspective. However I must admit, this gentleman is much more resourceful than me. I cheat a bit and have solar panels that charge a couple deep cell 12 volt batteries for me that I use mainly for led lighting inside.

"Doing it alone" was in reference to his building it all.
@@m69crimson Yes, so the title is a bit misleading, he was not 2 years alone in the wilderness on his own entirely, because people helped him shooting the film for some time. But yeah he built it alone, which is great.
Most chill UA-camr ever I can literally sit back have a few drinks and watch his videos for hours and now my lady sits with me and enjoys watching them as well 🏕
Old lady? 🤨
Old lady??
Yeah my wife
That’s better. 🙂
Ive never seen a dog so happy. Beautiful Pup!
This popped up on my recommended stream. "I'll just click through to see what it's about for a moment"...... an hour and a half later, still glued to the TV. Amazing work.
Dan Field has worked
This guy does more in one week than most people do in an entire year.
Cuz this guy sleeps in his car plus he has food and his dog that didn't come from mid of no where so yeah I think he's cheating by a lot
@@godking6084 that's hardly cheating
you commented twice?...
@@evasmojang yeah so. And what's your point
@@thetalentedmr.richie1725 nothing just commenting that I noticed
My four year old daughter, watching UA-cam on my phone, comes across this site and is obsessed. I check to see what she’s viewing, she’s skipping through the videos. Mommy he’s happy, lucky, I like his doggy too. Now the whole family is watching. It’s moved to the television. She has good taste, what can I say, she is my daughter. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us!
Very nice!
I think there is a movie like this... Now in cinema 😅
Good taste indeed!!
I love it this is a real Brave man because at night times uh scary.
I can’t decide what I find more impressive, his filmmaking/editing or his carpentry. This is spec-bloody-tacular.
This is the comfiest thing I've ever seen, I am truly envious.
100%
Is rare that you stumble across a video of this caliber which makes UA-cam a good place to be. This is one of them.
The amount of time spent to make this video (editing etc) omg wow. Thank you so much for sharing. A Pure joy to watch.
Agreed with you
This is how i wish to live one day.
without dialogues, without philosophy, only acts .... very inspiring
My son can’t believe I’ve watched this 4 times now. One of the most peaceful (to
me) videos I’ve watched. Thank you for sharing
well put, sir
From the anxiety of the first scene in a heavily congestion city through to the peaceful conclusion, what a SUBURB 2 years laid out in a full length feature! It takes the viewer on an epic journey. Exceptional quality in building, filming, editing, soundtracking and cinematography.......Just WOW! BRAVO!
@KeDe Glow
I experienced that also
Allah Akbar
Great job free life
Best wishes from Palestine 🇵🇸
