I'm a southerner so correct me if I'm wrong, but won't that flat roof collect so much snow it will collapse the structure after a decent sized blizzard? You supported your roof off of your walls, and in the final shot at 17:58 I'm already seeing the flooring on the balcony bowing directly under that thin column due to the foot or so of snow on the roof already. I'm very concerned for anyone trying to stay in there as their own body weight and the weight of their firewood might be the straw that breaks the camel's back under a massive load of snow when excess firewood on-hand is most crucial. I'd recommend putting some kind of sloped roof on there, or else make the heat of the fireplace rout through pipes on the roof to cause it to melt the snow when active. Or maybe both. The routed fireplace will buildup soot up there as the rapid cooling will reduce the thermal energy of the updraft, so you'll also need to solve that if you go that rout. Might not be worth it. Just put a steeply sloping roof on there or you might end up killing someone. Hopefully it happens when no one's inside.
What a master craftsman you are, and don't allow anyone to tell you that you're only a run of the mill builder. What you built is truly inspirational. 👍👍👍👍👍
Should have left room at the joints for the tree to grow. You can use rubber seals at the joints and boots to go around limbs. Plus heating up an area of the trunk that big will make the tree think it is summer and take it out of hibernation and most likely kill it.
Only to end up killing the tree from hacking and drilling and nailing into it. Such disconnection from nature and from reality is a common mental illness today.
All these ridiculous comments about the tree coming from people that write on paper every single day get over it. We cut down 12 million Acres every single day. I don't think a guy building a treehouse and damaging one tree is going to impact much
You can build in trees without destroying them. This is garbage and won't last. I wouldn't let my squirrel up in there. Sincerely, a commercial treehouse and zipline builder
It appears to be some kind of pine, but there was no good shot for identifying it. We don't know if it's fast-growing or slow-growing. Only a couple specific species of pine are used for making paper.
So, if I understand correctly, first you find a tree free of decay and diseaseso that your tree house will last a long time. Then you cut into it and put nails and screws so that it will get decay and disease. That makes a lot of sense.
@@Stoertebekerxyz wenn überhaupt, dann nur aluschrauben+Wachs, ich glaube nicht das es diese Schrauben sind,da hilft auch Wachs drüber alleine nicht !!! 😢😮😢
Not to mention drill holes into the trunk, cut out pieces of the trunk, strip the bark so the trunk of the tree is open to all sorts of attacks? This is not damaging and is life extending?
Watch the treehouse guy, he doesn't kill trees like this guy is doing. Taking the bark off, put nails and wood right against the tree. It won't grow. He is killing the tree. It is a live tree. That's a dream house for sure.
one thing about a rigid made tree house is sooner or later wind will flex the tree and damage \destroy it. i had an idea to find at least 3 preferably 4 trees the configuration and size you want, cut the tops off and use either semi tires or tractor tires and cables to build the base on, then raise the base with a pully system secure it and build the rest. this will flex with the wind and allow a lot more flexability

@@DerekBrown-ij5ts No you are not confused. Not only is it dead, it's been that way for a long time by the look of it. There's also three foot vertical split from the ground up, which is not a good sign.
Yep. The captions repeatedly said they were taking care as not to harm the tree. I guess the drilled out holes, cut sides, screws, and cut limbs don't count.
@@cq608the longer video said it was completely dried out. Dead just not rotten. It was long used as a trail marker for rangers and people who keep track of wild life.
As nice as it is, it's not gonna last 10 years, before the tree's growth destroys it.. You don't cut into the tree and nail railes, you need spacers that allows the tree to grow, and butting floor into the tree, same thing as the tree grows it will destroy it, there are methods that allows the tree to grow and still have a strong secure attachment to the tree.. Go look how "The Treehouse Guy" does it..
That's a lot of work for something that's going to shift over time. The tree will grow, getting bigger, displacing the structure. Not to mention the damage that's done to the tree as it's made.
That tree is NOT going to keep growing. He's essentially "ringed" it, taking the bark off all the way around it kills a tree by cutting off its water supply. I don't know if it was already dead before starting. But - It's a dead tree now.

Amazing video! Building a tree house from scratch is not only a great skill but also a creative challenge. What do you think about living in trees? Is it the ideal choice for nature lovers?
It appears the tree was already dead. But how long is it going to stay up when it's already rotting underground and all this extra weight has been added? As long as the condition of the tree is monitored and managed, it should be good.
a lot of work and money for a short life span this is going to have. tress are constantly moving. the polls you put are not. the tree is going to rot, and it will get pulled apart by the wind.
