      The three stitches shown in the video are called "single crochet stitches" at least here in America. Other countries might have other names for them.

    Ok wow! Thanks so much for showing me the cross sttich one. I'm having a hard time seeing the difference between a yarn over and a yarn under. Besides watching this video a jillion more times (which i will do!) is there anything I should recite to myself to help me remember the difference? Thanks!!

      When holding the crochet hook as you work, assuming the hook part that sticks out is considered the 'front' of the hook, a yarn over touches the back of the crochet hook first. A yarn under touches the front or belly part of the crochet hook first.

      When the colors will create an intricate design, I generally stick with a simple stitch like plain, regular single crochet. Or double crochet. Some people do the corner to corner stitch pattern, if the colorwork is designed for it. That pretty much is just double crochet stitches.

    What i figured out with the waistcoat is to put your hook on a downward angle and your hook will end-up where you need to be

      That one is a 100% cotton macramé rope, something like 5 mm. Think that one was from Amzn - didn't really have a name, just a generic type.
