Hey Paul, I was just wondering how long pollen will last in the refrigerator? I always collect my pollen and let it sit on the counter overnight and then if I don't need it the next night I wrap it up in foil with one of those silicone packs, wrap that in packing tape and then put it in a Ziploc freezer bag with more silicon packs and put it in the freezer. I have definitely noticed that fruit is almost always smaller using frozen pollen. So now I'd like to try refrigerated pollen to see if it's any better.
Same here, frozen pollen makes smaller fruit and fresh refrigerated pollen is like fresh pollen. It lasts about a week, probably longer if you use silicone packs like you do.
I was needing to pollinate American Beauty did I need to use a different variety pollen? How do you know what pollen to use on each bloom. Love all your videos
If you have flowers opening for a couple days in a row, can pollen be left on the counter in an airtight container? How long is it viable outside of the refrigerator?
It will do fine on the counter for 24 hours in my experience. I like to refrigerate it and put it in a sealed container after leaving it to dry out for 12-14 hours.
I give out pollen to anyone that is willing to pick it up. I don't think it ships well, but if you are in San Diego, near Escondido, let me know and I will give you mixed pollen.
Good question, I am on the fence for dragons since there are so many seeds in a fruit. Most say, 2 parents only, but I believe mixed pollen may make unique seeds from mother plant and the different pollen sources, possibly more than 2 parents. More research needs to be done on this topic.
Can you mix the pollen with other DF pollen for better results?

Thanks for this...I didn't think to dry it out overnight. Doh!
Anytime, yes, it's key to let it dry out overnight.

Have you tried a mini vacuum . It takes about 15 seconds to get all the pollen from 1 flower.
Do you sale pollen? We have 1 plant we have no idea what kind but need pollen the last blooms didn’t fruit when we self pollinated it.
I have fresh sugar dragon pollen available almost every night. Let me know if you are interested. I’m in East County SD.

@@RAREDRAGONFRUIT I'm not anywhere near ya. Thank you for the offer
130 flowers opened last night. Over 250 in the last 3 days.
Hi! I put my collected pollen at the center in the hole. Is it ok? And is ok that after I collected I immediately pollinated the flowers?
I use a mini vacuum, like for a keyboard. It has a "hepa" filter 😂 that catches the pollen great.
Yes! Lots of people love using the vacuum
@RAREDRAGONFRUIT I just had my first flush of blooms ever with 5 opening the other night. I have a pile of pollen, thanks for all the help brother!
Great video as usual
I have a question, the process of pollination is done by only one pollen grain or white multiple pollens?

What size vial do you use?
It's small, I believe it's this...www.amazon.com/Twdrer-Graduated-microcentrifuge-Centrifuge-Container/dp/B082WXKT8K/ref=asc_df_B082WXKT8K/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=416904941974&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16133086815436423067&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031298&hvtargid=pla-911308852021&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=96633965649&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=416904941974&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16133086815436423067&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031298&hvtargid=pla-911308852021
Thank you so much amd keep up the great content about DF.
@@GG-kc9br Thank you 😊
That's how the cactus apples do it as well
I have a little refrigerator for my water and red bull's
How do you know that fruit was set? What are the signs that you look for to know that it was successfully pollinated?
