I had a manager that tried to withhold my pay because I didn't do everything she wanted instead of for the hours I was working. I got the check as I was walking into the courtroom suing her. She tried it with others and got a federal wage theft lawsuit.
why would you call HR, you just report them to the labor board, and sue them for 3x the wage theft, plus court fees. thats how you teach these sad criminals.
I had a boss like once. Actually it was 2. A pair of gay men. Nothing wrong with being gay. But they did not know what soap was. Lots wrong with that. Stinky stinky. Eyes watering bad. Do not think they had a shower in the last decade, let alone the last week. One day they moaned at me, on my day off, because a customer complained about a stinky member of staff. That they said was me. No, you stink, I had a shower this morning. You have not had one this decade. so I just gave them the keys to the building, and left.

It is illegal for an employer to hold your pay
Have a lawyer call HR

I hope there is a follow-up to this one, what that manager is trying is flat out illegal.
Restrict my pay and I will restrict my work ethic in return. If I need to take items from the store and sell them to get my pay, I'll do that.
