To make money a 200 acre ranch would need to be a Confined Animal Feed Operation (CAFO) or breeding registered cows. To restrict the cattle to what the land can support the number would need to be reduced to no more than 100, with a more reasonable number of 60-70, depending on the yearly precipitation and the grass growing season. I have worked agricultural research for both USDA and a Land Grant College. I have worked on farms, CAFOs, as well as being raised on a farm. My grandparents shut down a small dairy when I was eleven years old.
