    I use the mug press for tublers with the silicone inserts from Amazon. 4 min, then 2 min, flip, 4 min then 2 min. Frustrating to have to do it 4 times but works perfectly. Maybe I will get a tumbler press one day but I just do it for personal use and not retail so can't see spending the money for it.

      I agree with you on the tumbler press. I'm just going to use my mug press too!

      I also used my Cricut mug press, to press 20 ounce tumblers. Because I knew in advance that the lights might not work I just timed them for like five minutes or so. And then rotated them flipped them, etc. The heat does not go off when the lights stop working. Mine sublimated perfectly and didn’t think it was too much work. I also used the PYD LIfe inserts, using the thickest one. No need to waste time with shrink wrap. I just used some copy paper, like I always do with my mugs, to protect the press. If I had a business and wanted to do more than just a couple, I would definitely invest in a tumbler press.

    Unfortunately you can see the last tumbler stained the Cricut mug press. What can you use safely to remove the sublimation ink, without compromising your warranty, so it doesn't press the ink on to your next project?. Ink staining is my main anxiety with my mug press.

    @designbundles What paper cutter are you using in this video? I have already bought two and neither one has an obvious line that allows me to eyeball the edge of the printed area so I can trim right along the edge cleanly. One just has a narrow valley under the blade but the blade is centered so I have to guess about 1/16th of an inch either way where the blade will hit. I thought I'd upgrade to Fiskars brand because it has a wire guide. Well, that guide is at a slight angle so the cuts are also at an angle if I use that to eyeball the edges.

    Thank you for this great video. I'm afraid to try sublimating tumblers. I use a convection oven to sublimate glass beer cans. Why is it that the subli shrink is so so hard to remove? I stopped making this glasses because I was not successful taking it off. And too many ruined glasses because the sublimation didn't transfer dark enough (ghosting). After you heat the sublimation on the tumbler, do you have to add a clear coat or epoxy over it in order for it not to transfer when washed or to protect the sublimated image on the tumbler? Also, does the shrink wrap just hold the image tight while it heats or does that provide a clear coat over it? I'm thinking about investing in making these, but want to make sure I understand the process. Thank you!

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  Рік тому +1

      You don't need coating for sublimation. Once you sublimate its "in" the coating and not going anywhere. Shrink Wrap only serves to hold the design tightly on the tumbler
