- The ACRO P2 is good.
It's not so good that people should pay double MSRP for what is essentially a T2 in a box.

You're the first person I've seen not only talk about the nv performance of the P2 but SHOW the performance of the P2. Thanks Brock.
This!
Mojo has posted some content on it but not a dedicated video on it
Commenting for algo but also to share my experience with the Acro for the past ~8 months.
I got an Acro P2 in May of last year and had my 4.25” M&P direct milled to accept it. Since then it’s been my primary gun for range days, competitions, dry fire, etc. I still like it, but very much agree with your assessment of the optic being a bit overhyped.
There are some real downsides as a pistol optic most people don’t really talk about. First, the window is SMALL. The area of the window is actually smaller than the holosun K series optics. Coming from even just an RMR, I had a tough time at first and it forced me to correct some technique to make sure my dot always came back to center.
Second, my battery died initially after only a few months. It was the original battery that aimpoint shipped with it, so I’m hoping it was a fluke (and it’s been going strong for ~5 months now on the replacement). Sample size of 1, so take that info for what it’s worth.
Lastly, my 4.25” slide with the acro has a noticeably slower velocity than my 4” slide with an RMR. I think it has to do with how tall the acro is and where the weight is distributed; I would be cautious about putting it on something with a long slide and expecting perfect reliability with all ammo.
On the positive side, the glass is excellent; one of the clearest red dots I’ve ever looked through. Looking through it under a friend’s pvs-14 was also very nice. I also like the brightness settings and the simplicity of not worrying about it going into auto adjust mode (looking at you, type 2 RMR). It truly will get into “burn out your retinas” levels of bright at max setting.
Overall, solid optic, but I don’t think I would ever recommend someone pay scalper prices for one.
EDIT: Updating 2/16/2023. My p2 had a major failure where the emitter seems to have separated from the body. This was while shooting normally at an indoor range, not even on a holster draw or any kind of extreme use. The dot is now pointed over a foot low left at 7 yards and is unusable. Sending it back to aimpoint for warranty, curious to see how they handle it.
Sounds like you need a lighter recoil spring to accommodate the optic. I've an RMR HRS but haven't tried the SRO yet, so that'll be my next one to try out.
@@DZ4295DBW stock recoil spring still works fine for the 4.25” M&p; I’ve shot a lot of aluminum case ammo which is fairly weak, and even with that I’m yet to have a malfunction. Ejection isn’t as strong with the very low powered range ammo, but dropping down to a lighter spring would not be ideal when shooting anything more normal powered. If the same optic was on a 5” with a heavier slide (or I was actually having any malfunctions) I’d probably be more inclined to start experimenting.
The window size seems small due to the tube effect but it's actually got a larger window than the rmr.
@@shelbyneely1572
Acro P2: .59” x .59” = ~.35in^2
RMR: .87”x .63” = ~.55 in^2
Math will be slightly off since RMR isn’t square, but close enough to prove the point. Also I literally own both of them and have looked at them side by side lol.
@@grantshurtz I own both and could have swore It was the same but I pick the acro up faster anyways so......
The biggest benefit of the P2 is that it uses Aimpoint's newer, more efficient, low powered laser that was introduced with the CompM5. For my astigmatism the P2 and CompM5 bloom a lot less than my T2.
Thank you for mentioning this. I’m always struggling against the sparkling amoeba that virtually all my red dots have. My two favorite guns have recently been swapped to eotech to remedy this fact but I’ve still got multiple red dots of varying quality on some other guns.
That’s interesting I have the opposite experience. Eyes are weird
This is a huge plus!
I agree completely
One appealing feature of the ACRO P2 is its use of 2032 batteries instead of 2016 batteries that are more commonly used on pistol red dots. That at least prevents you from having to keep replacements of one more type of battery. The use of 2032 batteries should also lead to longer battery life, which is apparent in the optic's specs, but I think it still remains to be seen if the longer battery life actually materializes.
for sure. I think the ACRO p2 really feels at home on a rifle as a offset/piggy.
You already have watch batteries everywhere because every scope uses it. So this fit right into that.
Not sure how you manage it but it always seems like you post a new vid at my lunch break perfectly every time. Thanks homie. I’ll probably never buy any of these products but hot damn do I enjoy your content sir.
got to do something during the lunch break right ?
The dog segment at the end was a welcome addition. More of that in the future please.
I got issued one of these last February. I guess the department had a big enough order to get them filled early on. Everything from here is anecdotal but this is what I’ve observed personally and over a fleet of 30 or so of them. The field of view is narrow. NV performance is better than the RMR but not by much. Glass is the most clear and least distorted of any handgun optic I’ve seen. Almost no noticeable parallax at 25 yards. During my initial RDS transition course we had 12 units each going through approximately 1000 rounds. We had five failures. One went completely out the other four would flicker off and on with each shot. Battery changes, tightening the compartment cap, nothing fixed this they had to be sent back. I personally shattered the rear glass on my P2 during a transition from an awkward position. The rear glass struck the magazine from my rifle and completely shattered. The dot was still functional and zeroed however. One unit had unusually low battery life. Requiring a battery change approximately every other month. The setting was high, but none of the other optics required it be changed this frequently. The brightness adjustments being hard to use has left the SOP to be leaving it all the way up then down one as there isn’t a quick way to scale it up if the situation demands. These are the observations after a year of moderate use.
that is something I wanted to mention, but didn't because it's not my experience.
But in the competition circle on handguns, these things are getting destroyed. They are not great handgun dots
@@BrassFacts Is that from your personal experience, or is there somewhere I can read about all this? I like how the SRO looks, for example, but it can't be nearly as durable as this or an RMR.
You hit the mark towards the end, I only bought my P2 just to flex at the range
My buddy's P2 fogged up inside. Aimpoint covered it but not something you'd expect out of a $600 optic.
I have seen the same issue with some holosun 509 optics (more often than aimpoint). Seems like smaller closed emitter dots still have some growing pains.
I mean dude they replaced it, no company is perfect, what else do you think they should have done?
Made in China, no optic mfg doesn't use Shenzhen housings
For $600, there should be any QC issues. We are not talking about $100 - $200 optic. Plus, it is a red dot. Probably the simplest of all optics to manufacture or so you’d think.
The real question is where did you get that dope poncho?
Bump on this!
Went from an rmr to a p2, mainly for the convince of battery changes. So far I like it
Then they dropped the rmr hd or whatever, low key want it now
BF, your night vision view is PRICELESS. Thank you so much, buy things so we dont have to.
Also, Gibbers says you need a Hydra to get that chin up over the folder.. thanks for not.
time to buy a 500 dollar piece of aluminum
Excited for the Mailbox Red dot showdown!!! If you can, throw an EPS into the mix, as supposedly it has some improvements over the 509T. If mine come soon, you can borrow one.
yeah fuck it why not. I want to take this kraken off of my pistol. I can't handle it any longer.
It'll be great, I'll borrow it for another 2- 3 years and give it back to you Shot 2025.
@@BrassFacts 😂🤣😂 Deal! I am interested to hear about the Kraken.
@@BenfromFlux it's fine for what it is.

@@BrassFacts I thought you liked it that way... 😂
@@BrassFacts it took around a hundred rounds each to break two Krakens, hopefully you've not had the same luck.
I come for the reviews, but stay for the Nova footage.
I'm really enjoying mine the most for conceal carry, much more than the RMR (although I really like the RMR). A seemingly innocuous but persistent issue with CC is lint. I hated my Holosun 507c's deep lens which made it a bitch to get the lint out. The Holosun 509 sits way too tall for my taste because of the adapter plate. I liked my RMR a lot because it was easier to wipe it out but the annoying part is the factory timer to reset the brightness back to auto adjust after like 8 hours. It is also nice knowing the tanky reputation of the RMR and that my optic won't fail or crack easily. Enter the P2: it's low profile in comparison to the 509, the battery life is significantly better than the competition, I can leave it on my preferred brightness at all times and the window is taller. It's pretty close to perfect for me on a handgun. My optic hasn't shown any failure after roughly 1000+ 9mm.
I'll take overpriced optics for $600, Alex.
I’ll take too poor for Aimpoint for $200 Alex
@@fury556 I can't even find it for $600. Used ones are usually around 700. And FDE is 800. Too much for an optic with barely anything to offer over an AEMS or EXPS3. Unless pistol mounted. Then RMR all day
@@fury556 Meh it is a mediocre optic with aimpoint prices. Unfortunately there isn't an amazing closed emitter micro dot yet.
$1, Bob
I got mine for 499 lmao. Money well spent
Good call on moving to the Eotech for the TP9. I love the Eotech on my TP9 for NVG use.
I like the reality check for optic within the perspective of preparations
Always been wondering about this. A lot of Police Departments near me and Sheriffs offices are switching to this on their pistols so I've never been able to really find them at a decent price.
Tax dollars at work 🤣
I've used a P2 in Law Enforcement now. Two died mid shift on fresh batteries.
@@wardengage4173maybe the batteries?
Looking forward to the comparison video.
Thanks for the honest review. Just bought it Two days ago supposed to arrive in 4 more days but I’m definitely going to take it back. I was so caught up in finding a 3 and up moa dot I didn’t realize how tiny this optic is. I’m trying to find a dot for a ar home defense set up and I choose this because of the name literally and hoped I’ll like it once I researched more. Exactly as you said. I don’t want it anymore
I just show up because you're left handed. Great vid man
It's a pistol red-dot, the best one there is too, at least in all the metrics that could truly matter in any 'life or death" scenario. One could complain about price, but that's about it. On a rifle, get a T2.
I feel the same. Its not a T2 replacement, its a pistol dot that solves the last problem pistol dots really had.
Well said. I love BF but I groaned a bit when I saw the thumbnail featured this mounted on a PDW.
Aimpoint has done nothing but advertise this as a pistol MRDS and it should be treated as such

the poncho + mp9 combo is such a vibe
Really excited for the showdown debating getting an mps Becuase I get a pretty substantial discount on them and can’t decide if it’s the move.
I have two MPSs (I wanted an ACRO P2, couldn't find one, the normal stuff) and I like them.
I dont have NV, and I run it on an APX currently with the plan to run one piggybacked on a scope but havent yet (reptilia makes an ARCO and RMR top ring for their scope mounts)
@@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz do you like them sofar any issues?
Just get the aim point. But once cry once. If the MPS had the same options as ACRO it might be worth it but it’s not.
Short of it is:
Generally really good, and especially good with the new discount price.
Really bad under NV despite the fact that it's got a chungus of a window.
Overall my current favorite.
I'm just here for Nova. Keep up the good work.

P2 is my favorite Periphery album. +1 for Al Gore's rhythm.
I am glad for this review at least saying its a money thing. It becomes obvious- if you care about the money its not worth it. If money isnt an object its a little better but dont get too over inflated you're still going to get taken out of the chat by a guy with a hellcat from behind a parked Saturn Vue so careful who you piss off- In the end its a good review that talks about ACTUAL use and real world experience. Thanks man.
Is it over hyped? Sure. But it’s also much better than other closed emitter pistol dots imo. The clarity and distortion on this are worlds better than my 507Ks.
Wrong
I have one of these piggybacked on my Spitfire gen 2 5x. Its a freakin kickass setup, love the Acro p2!

commenting for the algorithm. Good vid (the gun-related content was okay but the dog clips were top notch). Looking forward to the mailbox opic showdown.
Trijicon having a patent on the left/right side buttons is kind of insane and reduces the usability of other red dots made for pistols. I think they can really only make them so big/functional when they're both on the same side. Really nothing beats the Trijicon style of buttons, especially with some improvements they made with the RMR HD and RCR.
I dont particularly care if other people over or under hype something, I care if its good. That's why I dont trade stocks.
But I just couldn't find one so I bought 2 Stiener MPSs, one for my APX and one to piggyback on my AR in the future. Currently the second one is on my Maxim9, but that gun's a pricy toy so it'll get a different dot later.
I've been running a Gen 2 509T on top of my Glock 20 here in the PNW since they came out without a single issue... Ever. I fail to see what any more amount of money spent would get me at this point.
I’ve been waiting for a solid review on these for so long and im glad I never bought one. I’ve been playing with optics on my ap5p and ghm9 to see what works best. I think I’ve settled on a vortex viper and a PA prism respectively. Best reviews on the net easily bro keep it up
On the topic of enclosed emitter CC dots. I really like my EPS carry and it doesn't add much weight or bulk.
I may not be interested in the products you review, but God damnit if I can't say no to that buttery smooth voice of yours.

Happy Nova is happy. Doing a snow. Very excite.
This is the type of optic you throw on your single duty gun that you want to survive anything. It's not something you should put on a CCW or other random handgun you have. Same with the T2 on your single rifle for SHTF
Love mine. Would really like to see a scaled down concealed carry model
Unless they are adding features like shake awake and auto off it's only throttling features which is not worth any amount of negligible savings

What did you mean at 0:46 when you said that aimpoint admitted the P2 was "hot garbage"? Did you mean to say P1?
correct. whoops.
Yo just found your page. Killer raw and realistic review. Keep it up man!
P2 is great. If you want the best, you get the p2. It’s not our fault that pistol dots are not as good as full sized dots like t2. Even on a lpvo, t2 makes more sense. P2’s only place is on pistols, and talking about nv performance on a pistol is just not fair. I personally dont think price should be a factor when you are talking about performance. It only applies when something cheaper out performs something more expensive. But that is rarely the case. On something like the mp9, t2 or eotech makes more sense. Also you use your active laser 80% of the time anyway under nv. P2 is a nice pistol dot
Agree wanted a review on its performance on a handgun. Have t2’s for rifles
This is just proving that I should just buy a Steiner MPS.
They’ve got worse battery life, probably not as bad as the Acro p1 but definitely not as good as a 2032 battery powered dot
@@kylehouge9690 clearer glass and thinner bezels, plus battery life is at least a year anyway.
I cant speak to one vs the other, but i have two MPSs and I like them. Theyre slightly taller than an ACRO I believe, if it isn't it sure feels it because the battery mounts up top, but its not too tall to hurt anything.
I did this myself. Just need the time to actually zero it.

loving that Seiko alpinist!
I just saw the goofiest thing, Holosun's LE420 giga-size all-in-one Light/LAM comes with a mounting plate that lets you stack a T2 on top of it. It's not even mentioned on their website. But in a "hindsight's 20/20" line of thought, that might be the end-all, be-all solution for mounting IR and an optic to a tiny PDW.
Cool setup I think i would also switch to eotech for that. I think I know some of those mountains.
from the sounds of it you'd probably be better served getting a micro T2 for any rail mounting applications and sticking with an RMR for slide mounting. It doesn't sound like the ACRO P2 is quite living up to the hype.
I think he’d be the first to tell you he goes into more OCD levels of concern about aspects of the things he reviews. And that’s what we need reviewers to do. However, I got one of these, put it on a G19 Gen 5 with a Forward Control/Tango Down plate. Carry it every day. Taken it to a few matches. It’s been left on since the day I zeroed it. I haven’t given it much more thought than that.
it's important to understand, like he said.
I bring up the details. Only because I brought up more negative details than positive details doesn't mean I hate it.
Listen to the conclusion at the end.
@@BrassFacts the conclusion at the end is precisely why I'm not probably going to end up getting one. I already have decent optics on most of my firearms (RMRs on the handguns a Trijicon 1-8 on my one rifle and a micro T2 on another) and for the marginal improvement this offers it wouldn't be worth the expense. I would be better off using that money to fill other gaps in my equipment or replacing some of the more janky pieces of gear I'm currently using. If I ever find my holy grail PDW the ACRO P2 may be the ideal optic for it.
@@phosistkar6425 Also worth mentioning that I intentionally stayed out of the pistol optics game until I could get one of these. I wanted something enclosed with a battery that could be changed without removing the thing. I wanted a design that was a pistol red dot from the ground up. I wanted a red dot that attached to something as close as picatinny rail as possible. I wanted good battery life for something that will be left on 24/7. I wanted a red dot I depend on it for personal defense to say "Aimpoint" on the side of it. This red dot checks all those boxes.
If I was already in the pistol red dot game and had an RMR or Holosun, I likely wouldn't be running out and buying the ACRO P2 either.
@@RT81775 Sounds like you were the smart one haha, The ACRO is probably the best pistol red dot on the market. It definitely isn't the first on the market though and early adopters usually get the short end of the stick.
Looking forward to the showdown!

Not here for the review, just the dog. And I am happy! Nova playing in da snow!!
There is no reason why that weapon shouldn't be a short barreled .300 blackout AR, far more lethal and way more accurate at any range... Pistol caliber weapons have a very limited role...
I’ve been watching your channel for a year now and have learned quite a bit. I’ve made expensive purchases based on your word and have been happy. Keep this in mind as I offer this criticism: sometimes (this video being illustrative) you put on this too-cool-for-school attitude that makes discerning your concrete views on a given subject difficult. Relatedly, you caveat the crap out of so many of your statements which just adds to the difficulty of deciphering your precise meaning.
Can you time stamp specifically what exactly you mean by the two cool for school part. I think I know what you mean, but not 100% sure.
Too-cool-for-school was probably the wrong thing to say since that phrase carries with it too negative a connotation. I need to take a bit to rewatch this video and collect my thoughts in order to give you better considered feedback. I’ll post more in a bit.

One thing people dont talk about is the "improved" battery life. I set mine to one setting above the setting they say gives 50k hours or whatever it was. And mine died somewhere between 2 and 3 months. And yes it was a new battery. Its been a while since i got rid of it so i cant remember all the details.
Wow. That's interesting. Why can't aimpoint of all companies figure out how to make a pistol red dot? I'm quite happy with my basic bitch RMR type 2 RM06. My battery is still alive and its the one it came with and I keep it on one setting above what is recommended and I got the optic a year and a half ago. I also live in a climate with lots of snow(and have dropped it into the snow) and rain and it has never been a problem even though youtube says my open emitter should be a problem. Not to say that it couldn't possibly be a problem, I think it could--but it hasn't under real world conditions and to me that means a lot. I shoot very frequently and I have even shot in a heavy rain storm(who doesn't love shooting in the rain? It's so romantic) and even still the open emitter didn't cause any problems.
