I can't help but feel I'm watching two rimworld colonists talk about how they're gonna fight mechanoids without realizing that CE is installed.
yeah our motor pit sucks, and we ran out of ammo, so we need to take the fight to mechs
You have been growing as one of my favorite channels due to your thought provoking videos on various subjects.
thanks man, appreciate that.
I cannot agree with this enough. BF and Hop represent a lot of us average dudes.
I really enjoy and appreciate the neo-Nutnfancy vibes of your channel. NV is out of my budget currently, so I'm stuck trying to maximize white light for a while, but NV is definitely a goal. Thanks for all you do!
Work some OT and put that money in a separate account. Wife and 3 kids. That's how I did it.
Look into night fox. Great company. Only issue is you’ll be a spotlight to anyone else wearing real nods.
Brass Facts does live in UT, so the odds of him running into Nutn out in the wilderness of N. Utah/S. Wyoming are not zero
Flannel Daddy is also wrong-handed, but is right eye dominant so he shoots everything the correct way
I'm left eye dominant but right handed. I refuse to shoot left handed.
My right eye is significantly worse in vison than my left if im really trying to see and hit something without my glasses i have to shoot lefthanded to see with my left eye comfortably
My dad does that too.
@@AK_Respecter it's easier, just do it.
The upside is you can pie a corner properly
@Joshua Jones yeah... What fool wouldn't want some star wars shit intentionally shot into their eyes. Seriously though glad it worked out for you.
Hop is looking more and more like a James Bond villain with the sunglasses and haircut, brass looks like the main villains main enforcer that’s a little bonkers,
I say this meaning it as a joke guys, just the first thing I thought, hope you guys get a laugh
Why do I feel like Brass was yelling at me once they got to the outside scene? Lol. After Hop spoke Brass came in HOT 😂😂
clean your room!
😂😂😂 "mines better than hops" I was rolling. Keep it up guys. Both of you are doing the community an invaluable service. 🤙🏽
Just some amazing hair going on in this video.
4 days of shooting hair
@@BrassFactsokay I don’t know how I haven’t seen a comment on this but HOPS LOOKS LIKE THE FREAKING TERMINATOR🤣🤣
Curious where you heard SF vampire lights are on the way out, unless it's just a guess based on the new turbo offerings. I hope they're gonna continue to be around.
gah dont make me go panic buy 10 of them
Good thing we can still buy the KM1/2 heads standalone. I figure the bodies will still be available for a while yet if they do decide to axe it.
@@JackTagararisaka m300 and 600 bodies will fit the surefire ir/ white light heads
Just bought one from surefire.... kinda be law enforcement or military..... they technically didn't verify sooooooo..... 🤷
Love the videos from both you guys. But I have to say haha the hair on you two kills me 😂😂😂. Keep it up.
Kinda funny that my oldest AR is the one that was configured best for NV capability by accident - DD M4V4 (got it in 2012) with the old school quad rail, Aimpoint T-1 Micro (bought it at the same time as the rifle). Recently started getting into NV and man as much as I hate running a full 16" barrel rifle with a fatty quad rail, you have so much room for activities. Can mount everything wherever you want and get the configuration perfect. Ended up going with a Zenitco Perst-4 and Surefire Vampire V-2. Mounting the V-2 was a bit of a headache since it's supposed to be a regular flashlight and oddly sized but god dammit I made it work. Also changed out the original A2 flash hider for a SilencerCo ASR flash hider to put a can on. Despite being a full size 16" rifle the weight isn't too bad, shockingly it's just under 8 lbs without suppressor or mag, so add another 2 lbs there.
Tactical poncho! No nits to pick this time, just love for the venerable wool poncho.
I went with the generalist 16” with LPVO, offset red dot, a dbal d2 and a modlite OKW.
God help you
Chonk
@@nutegunspray1022 much chonk. At 10lbs 6oz unloaded the rifle is still more than manageable for me.
Night vision? Just chill in your house and if trouble happens .. you’re ready
The Elcan coupled with an RMR is a perfect combat optic set up. Elcan works well with NVGs as well. Just the most solid setup, upgrade the Elcan with the A.R.M.S. quick DQ MK2 throw levers and it's the business.
So now we have Hop and Brass for NV and web gears, 9HR for target shooting, Admin and GT for tacticool stuff, and Ian and Brandon for firearms tech... We can build our own army XD
my night rifle protects my farm. but i use a 20in barrel i use both types of aiming. thanks again for all the good info this really helps not only for end of the world but to help save crops from animals that could put me in the poor house.
at about 14:00 the silhouette with the city in the back is a vibe. Nice camera work.
That's some pretty damn good Nova footage.
Best Nova Footage, in fact.
“Kids you’re both just awful type of scenario” god damn I love y’all
Love me GPR
Love me Brass Facts
'Ate Fudds
'Ate the ATF
Simple as.
Do you like me?
I love the new axion switches. The sync and non-sync versions are great and dont take up much space on the rail.
I got one and it was DOA, the surefire lead was poop, would not activate any light I had
Night vision unfortunately is still out of my price range, I do appreciate the information to give to us poor people. Great video… however I was disappointed by a faux Nova at the end. I demand you show proof of life for the real Nova and send the imitation K9 home with Hop. Aloha 🤙🏽
Just wanna give you a shout out for not being too cool to respond to DM messages and actually talking to people! Keep killing it player!
Love these two channels
You should do a video of your preferred packs, seen several different ones on the channel. Think i'v seen some TT and MR, Cannae, DA ect...
eventually, I take it slow on nylon gear tbh
When I see video's of people using night vision, I always see their eyes are noticeably illuminated by the NV. It makes me wonder, isn't that a considerable giveaway to any opponents without NV, especially in the dead of night with now moonlight?
it's typically exaggerated when filming.
but yes it can be at issue up to about 10-15 yards at most. You'd use the eye cups at that point
My brain started hurting when I realized that I have an 18350 light mounted on a setup with a cr123 eotech, and all of the laser and illuminators on the market along with the tubes themselves take cr123...for form factor alone I am looking at that phantom hill ctf2 if they're ever in stock. Surprised hop didn't mention it
he's a bit burnt out on them because of the parasitic drain
@@BrassFacts you have shattered my fragile hope that I could get an all in one unit for a mere $1400 instead of a separate $350 white light and $2000 fancy invisible light in my quest to one day see in the dark
I'm not convinced it's a necessity to have a laser for a night gun. I did, and have one now, but I'm considering selling it in favor of getting a higher mount for the EOTech and just using passive aiming.
I think I'm most likely to face opponents that have night vision if I actually need to use my night rifle in a serious capacity, and a laser is going to be pretty crappy in that situation.
I dunno, it's hard to say. But that's where I'm at right now.
Brock, you know you can get Nalgene bottles with the Nova Group logo on them?
I'd buy one.
that would be pretty sweet.
Same
@@BrassFacts Just do a search for custom Nalgene bottles
Only thing I disagree on you guys with is suppressors. But only because my rifle is pinned and welded and a suppressor adapter that doubles as an A2 flash hider was my best choice
Hop will have a Hollywood future playing Clint Eastwood when they revive the Dirty Harry movies.
It is my hometown store so I do buy a fair amount of their stuff. However that is under the situation that I build guns, I know guns, I can fix and polish guns, etc. so what I do is get the PSA stuff to try out concepts then keep them as SHTF guns for idiots who show up at my house and are poorly armed or unarmed. It is better than nothing. Additionally, in that situation two is one, and one is none, if a gun has a significant issue.
Thanks for sharing your experience
Thank you for your service Nova.
"Time to eat some MRE's",because constipation, and cement 💩 is a blast.
Great talk guys!
There is no reason to not have a passive capable optic AND and active aiming solution. Just do BOTH.
Great video guys.
Good video. Thank you for the content.
EOTech EXPS3-4 under NODs looks like a big front sight post in a ring
yeah, I do not like the 3-2,3,4 whatever for NV, and I dont like the 3,4 at all
Someone posted it before but Hop does look a little like young Clint Eastwood.
I was thinking young Stephen King...
I'm still waiting for the Somogear PEQ-15 to become available since your last night vision video. LOL
Nothing like ending a video with “my ass hurts”
The flash from the gas block at 1:00 was kinda nutty lol
welcome to adjustable gas blocks: population, random weird sparks
@@BrassFacts Yea as soon as I saw it, I thought "hmm thats prob a .300blk gun"
Hey Brass, based on your experience how comparable is a good flash hider (say a Surefire three prong) to a suppressor under night vision? Is the can a clear winner or can they be seen under night vision more or less the same?
@kitbadger did a bunch night time flash testing on his channel, I don’t think any under nods, however you can make some assumptions based on how the test turned out. I’ll say that ammo also plays a pretty big factor in how flashy your gun is.
it's honestly not meaningfully different.
The FH win by a hair. But the Cans are always the choice due to sound obfuscation
Add in NV, and it all looks the same, FH typically look worse, but depends on the can.
Nova definitely hasn’t been eating Tannerite.
no one has taken the lasers mounted further back towards the optic pill yet. need a video on that
massive splash.
Jeff Gerwich talks about it. It's fine if it's not really a gun used at night almost ever.
But not a good idea otherwise.
Commenting to feed the algorithm. Would rather this was on Utreon.
Great information. thanks
My thought has been one rifle for day / evening (occasional night time) use, one for night operations (NVG specifically).
You can mount the riser in either direction!!! Screw the trolls
I have a regular eotech EXPS-3 and Surefire M600.
If I try to get a PVS-14 on a budget I'm thinking of getting a holosun 117, vampire 600 head, and a tapeswitch for them both. Do you think there's a better budget setup for roughly same cost? Or what would you guys recommend.
Keep up the great work!
I generally think you probably want a illuminator. a used ls321 is realyl cheap
I have this set up on one of my guns. The vampire is ok only because I dont stretch it out to distance. If I was trying to go out to like 100 consistently I would get a better IR illuminator
I went with the LS321G as I wanted something with an illuminator and I like it a lot. I do wanna upgrade someday but Holosun makes a decent product. I like the idea of having the vamp head as I want the Surefire that switches from white to IR light. I use Modbutton lite switches. One for my Surefire light and then another with a crane plug for my Holosun LAM. They work well. Just make sure your getting the right one with the Surefire plug or the crane plug cause they sell both. Also get the one with the shorter wire. No one needs 7”’s of wire lol
@@wildcat8598 Yeah I triple checked before buying the switch. I ended up getting two of the Axion switches. One is for my Dbal 12 and white light that isnt synced and the other is for the L117 and Vampire light that is sync'd. They are awesome. Two switches on a really small footprint for the gun.
"I'm the only leftie on the internet"
Ian McCollum: *Huh?*
Not necessarily apart of this video but something I noticed recently, it looks like PA doesnt have the 2-10x's anymore.
When I heard y'all mention min-max night fighting rifles, I thought I'd like a video on those. Glad you can anticipate the autismo of your audience!
for me personally a t2 on a 1.93 is probably the bare min setup that could even be used and is as far from ideal as you can get. BF knows what's up. eotech gang. although a magnifier is dead weight at night.
@1:06 well how cool is this, an invisibility cape.
How do we make a GPR, with passive and active aiming, that doesn’t weigh a ton? I feel like a lot of guys cheat with 10.3-11.5” barrels. While this isn’t a discussion on terminal performance, I feel like 13.7-16” is the norm, and that starts to get obnoxious when you start hanging lights and LAMs at the end. I don’t want to give up magnification for daytime use, nor do I want to give up the usefulness of lights/lasers.
well, it's a case of needing to pick things you care about, and things you don't care about.
You can't have it all.
Red dot + magnifier. QD magnifier and suppressor if you need to drop weight, leave the light and LAM on all the time. If all else fails go buy a gym membership
@@TheRealXrayDoc Yup that's what mine looks like. It's still kinda front heavy though so gonna swap my perst3 for an NGAL.
Get a bullpup
@@destroyerofgearhook me up on your NGAL plug lol
The video I’ve been waiting for!
What about the AEMS? seems like it's lighter weight, lower profile, cheaper, longer battery life with few tradeoffs vs the EOTech.
the eotech is slightly for NV specifically, with the button, and more settings. (AEMS has 4, eotech has like 16)
For a day and night gun, I'd pick the AEMS
@@BrassFacts great, thanks for the reply...I'm actively thinking of putting a night gun together, but may just adapt one I already have that can suit the purpose.
@@BrassFacts I picked up an AEMS after watching your video and couldn't be happier. It is awesome
Best afforadable night vision setup for a civilian is a security camera system. Watch your whole property 24/7 for cheap and see the goofballs shooting lasers in the bushes
Still waiting on a link for that badass poncho
Aaron Cowan is wrong handed as well.
Wait… sig is adding a night vision mode button to the Romeo 8T??
i wonder how many people are going to freak out about the streaking at 12:55 and think it's a permanent blem LOL
so far 2
@@BrassFacts ha
Left hand rifle, right hand pistol.
I too am lefttistic
Question! Say you are going on an outing and want to being your NV woth you and your in kit... are there ang good ways to store them in a pack and nkt have them break on ya? PVS14 specifically, just treying to think of a good way to carry them when not in use for later.
That was good idea turn it backwards looks natural like that’s how it should look and work
Don't think I can use NV anymore. Blind in one eye. Thankfully its not my side dominant eye.
Hoops, what happened to that CTF-2 from 6 months ago that you were raven about?
The pressure pads are not all easy to ND. The cloud defensive isn't, but the pad is definitely oversized.
Why have you guys not done a video on that leaf sight for a Dbal?? I wish I knew about that awhile ago. Just ordered one. I'm assuming this works? No elevation adjustment though.
I need to let you borrow an NGAL for a review. I love the XE but the NGAL just trumps it in so many departments.
you can't get a ngal as a civ though. Not really.
@@BrassFacts CIV model is supposed to launch Q4, including a black variant. But that's all I can say on that.
@@dang879 I will wait till that comes out then.
GP rifle all the way!
Just mounted my Perst 4 on one of my smaller door bisting rigs. Waiting on an IR led to arrive for my aluminum G2 clone.
I think I'm finally gonna get a pvs14
Brass Facts comprehensive 300 blackout video about uses and HD?????
already done. well 1 portion of it. will drop it soon ish
@@BrassFacts God bless you sir. Need my 9” MCX validated🥵
I’m more interested in the lefty tips than the nighty tips
All kinds of issues with BRN gen 2. Tried the new spring kit and it's still messed up. Hopefully I have your same luck after sending it back
In your experience, what is the Red Dot sight that has the best light transmission? This is important in low light.
In photography we use the term t-stop. A lens may have a bright f-stop of f 1.4, but it may have a t stop of a much darker t 2.8.
eotech, but that's not technically a red dot.
So one of the aimpoints or the AEMS
@@BrassFacts So the holosun aems red dot has very good light transmission? How much worse is it compared to an Aim point or EO tech (yes you're right. not technically a red dot sight)?
@@FinalLugiaGuardian it's very comparable
@@BrassFacts excellent. Thanks for the info.
i want brass facts wardrobe, where you get these threads?!
The Live with Risky was pretty awkward last night, he was probably nervous 😬
They should have kissed him
@@yurimaguski2558in his 3rd brown 👁️ 👯♂️🤣🤣
I get the impression that Chrisky is a pretty big BF fan.
WOW!
i recently purchased a gen3 unit and all i could afford for the gun was a designator unit. its a holosun, and works very well. my 2 cents is that before even the illuminator you need the designator.
you cant hit what you cant aim at correctly. but theyre both essential to using your weapon correctly. i cant wait to get a better unit soon.
Your ir laser also illuminates ☝️
@@kxkxkxkx lol only kinda

Brock are you cross eye dominant or ambidextrous? You strike me as a right hander for everything else but just a left handed shooter?
yeah, left eye dom, write left, everything else is right
Haircut time boys
I’m left handed but ended up teaching myself to just shoot right handed.
As much as I would love to get into it, it's just way too cost-prohibitive for the average civilian.
Man, that dog really stays when you tell it too. Not one muscle.
No Hydra mounts? No C-note?
A little off topic, but why did you choose to shoot a right handed gun, lefty as opposed to building lefty guns? I only ask because I have a couple lefty kids and I want to help them adopt the strongest option.
AR15s are functionally basically ambi.
The only part that really needs changing is the safety.
People eat that GOOBERs shit up. Crazy
I couldn’t put my peq on with that mount
Wait I thought we hated the d2? I'm so confused, lol.
I don't like it. Watch hops video on it. HE explains why you might like it.
