10:20 Jack was contracted to transport 100 slaves and instead freed them. They burned his ship and sunk it, and the deal with Davy Jones was to raise the ship and let him be captain for 13 years. So in return for letting Jack keep the ship, Davy Jones wants the 100 souls that Jack saved back as payment.
So basically Jack did a legitimately good thing
and sails remained black from the flame. Black pearl is a magical ship and no ship can match her speed.
There's actually a prequel book that goes into it a bit more, too.

The first movie is my favorite, but Davy Jones is my favorite villain. And his theme is just amazing.
Davy Jones is my favorite villain that’s pure villain but my real favorite villain is barbossa cuz he was kinda funny at times and he ended not being that bad later and he was just a great character I thought black beard was underrated and Salazar conceptually and visually was cool but I didn’t really care for him and he just didn’t have that much charisma like the other villains he was just creepy and hateful like Davy Jones was creepy but he was also a very tragic character and was definitely evil but he had reasons for being the way he was and also he’s just iconic asf at this point
Oh and how could I forget about lord Beckett he was a great villain too I hated him and he was annoying and smug but he was very underrated too i honestly just love the first three movies in general and that whole arc I like to call it the port royal trilogy

@@orionvitale5020 And he was like 20 years older than Elisabeth, like he was already part of the crew of her father's ship at the beginning of the 1st movie and he had a love interest in her later? Like, she could be your child (and I know in the era could be like that, so props to historical accuracy)

Elizabeth wasn't acting mad that Jack was dead. She's feeling entirely guilty because, as you pointed out, he never really did anything that bad to her, yet she chained him to the mast for the benefit of herself and the others trying to escape the kraken, and she left him behind to be devoured. she is absolutely guilt-ridden and hating herself for what she did
Also if you watch the first one, when Elizabeth falls into the water you can hear Jack telling those soldiers that: “then they made me their chief” so he had an encounter with the cannibal tribe before.

im super late but im surprised no one commented the fact that the i got a jar of dirt scene was improv from johnny depp so all the wtf faces from the cast were genuine. as well as the last scene with barbossa, the cast wasnt told he would be coming back to make their shocked/surprised reactions more genuine, so the shocked look on their faces was a 100% real !!!
Hahah, I remember reading that it was supposed to be Annabel (think that was her name) - the woman captain from the 1st movie that Jack hires when he has the Interceptor.
Bootstrap Bill was constantly drowning cause he had the curse from the first movie until Davy Jones found him.

Hector Barbossa is actually inspired from Hayreddin Barbarossa who was a real pirate. He was such a good pirate ottoman sultan paid him a fortune and make him the chief of imperial navy. And he won a lot of wars
he really does. got DAM Geoffrey Rush is a great actor. If you haven't seen The King's Speech -- it's a MUST WATCH

Edit: I just looked him up -- "Khayr ad-Din" which means goodness of faith. This man needs a book and a movie deal ASAP
I think one of the most messed up things is the theory as to why Davy Jones rates jacks soul worth 100 souls. That's because the theory is before his original ship burned and sank he had saved 100 slaves that were being shipped

“I knew he wasn’t dead.” I’m fairly certain Hector Barbossa was killed last film, but we’re dealing a film series where people can’t die, are taken to the afterlife, and come back from the dead. They found a way. :)

The theory on why Davy Jones was coming from Jack is explained in lore (books and what not) - Jack was born as a pirate and then stuff happened later on with Cortes and then later, he gave up the Pirate Life and became a member of the East Indian Trading Company (the tattoo on his arm). He served within the company for 5 years before getting captain-ship of the Wicked Wench (a ship). Cutler Beckett (aka the dude handing out arrest warrants at the beginning of this movie) was a director which ultimately made Jack Sparrow an employee of Beckett's. They were to travel to the island of Kerma (for treasure and whatnot) but Jack said...yea no. I'm not going to give you slaves and when Beckett ordered for a fleet of slaves to be delivered to the Bahamas, Jack set them free and stole the Wicked Wench from the Beckett and the East Indian Trading Company. However, Beckett's men find him and brand him as a pirate and set the Wicked Wench on fire and sunk it into the ocean. He then called upon Davy Jones - Lord of the Sea and struck a deal with him. That if Jones would bring back the Wicked Wench, in 13 years time - Jack would give up his captain position and serve under Davy Jones on the Flying Dutchmen for a century. Agreements were made, and the Wicked Wench is now raised all in perfect condition - except that it is permanently black because of the flames. So Jack renames it the Black Pearl. And continues on his life as a pirate captain. Well of course then the whole mutiny thing happens between him and Barbossa and ya da da da da. We end up here. Bootstrap Bill Turner, who is Will's Father was the one who told Barbossa it was wrong to mutiny Jack and they end up throwing him overboard. But because of the Curse on the Gold from the first movie - he does not die but keeps drowning until Davy Jones finds him and puts him onto his ship. He is sent to Jack to tell him "Hey bud, your time is up. The Kraken is coming for you." So Jack tries to escape it. And then Davy Jones tells him - you can pay the debt and not serve 100 years, but you have to collect 100 souls and bring them to me. Why 100 you ask. Cause Davy Jones is a lovely guy and loves irony. Jack set 100 slaves free when he liberated the slaves from Beckett. And now Jones requires 100 souls to pay his debt. And he knows Jack won't do it because if you see the conversation between Beckett and Jack, they explain a bit where jack goes "People arn't cargo, mate." Which is why Norrington says "He is the worst pirate I've ever heard of" Because Norrington knows that Jack saved lives rather than take them on that day. Sorry that was a long spiel - but the books for the series is absolutely filled with lore that they couldn't put into the movies. And because of that, it does seem odd why Davy is all of a sudden coming for him. Hope this helps a bit.

I was 12 when dead man’s chest was in theaters…..Barbossa’s reveal was a mind blowing experience for EVERYONE. The whole theatre went absolutely nuts.
I can't express how much I enjoy this movie in cinemas. It was amazing.
Dead man's chest and at the world's end was filmed simultaneously from February 2005-december 2006. 2 back to back sequels
She feels bad for killing Jack. But she did it because they couldn't out run the Kraken and since it was after Jack not them she sacrificed him for there survival but felt bad for doing it.
Just realized the Tia dalma line about bartering the compass to Jack contradicts the last movie with the Spaniard.

Fun fact the film cast wasn't expecting Barbossa, they weren't acting they really were shocked to see him
The old captain Barbosa turning up at the end was a surprise for the other actors so they'd look more shocked, like with the first alien film they were kept in the dark about the chest burster scene.
He's dead. He's trapped in Davy Jones Locker. They have to go to the land of the dead and make it back to the land of the living with jack.

I loved the second movie so much I saw it four times in theaters. But that was back in 2006, and while I've seen it about five or so more times back when I still had cable, I stopped maybe five years ago and things only came back to me as I watched this reaction. I thoroughly enjoyed going through it again!

Jack was my favorite character as a kid and when i watched this i didn't have a good concept of death (only old people can die) so the ending was kinda lost on me

one of davy jones powers is that he can teleport to any ship he wants as long as that ship is in his territory. thats how he was able to get right in front of jack when he was using the telescope. his crew men can do the same as well

I know Will ordered the crew to use up all barrels of rum and gun powder to blow up the Kraken's tentacles, but if they could've at least saved one barrel for last, Jack might've survived by throwing a barrel into the Kraken's mouth and blow it up, probably killing it. I know it sounds very unlikely, but if it was an option for him, then hell, why not? I would've love seeing that 😂😂😂
