It’s a shame that the twins aren’t here to see how much they are loved after these years! I know some people made fun of them but I would put their beautiful voices, normal and falsetto, against anyone! There will never be anyone like them again. Pure voices, no auto tune, just pure talent. I’m so thankful to have grown up with their music. They were just as awesome in concert. This is why our generation has such a hard time with music these days. We had THIS!
I just love how the you people react to this song . Most all of them weren’t even born yet. The Bee Gees had longevity that no other group had. Sing writing was unmatched by most also. They were the total package ❤️❤️❤️
I have watched yur to the Bee Gees and ABSOLUTELY watching yur excitement and smile. There will NEVER be another group as talented as these guys. Longevity.....50 yrs i think. Phenomenal
To Much Heaven has literally saved children. The Bee Gee’s wrote & released it in 1978. It was already topping charts world wide when they performed it in Jan. 1979, for The United Nations Children's Fund fundraiser, “Music for UNICEF.” They then donated all royalties & publishing rights to UNICEF, the 1st band to make such a donation to charity. The last official tally I saw was as of 2011, saying UNICEF had received more than 10 million British pounds from it, for emergency food & healthcare. Elsewhere someone said it hit 20 million as of 2019 (but I haven’t found an official source for that).
WN Safford Unfortunately UNICEF was found to have only gave a pittance to their charities. They kept the rest to give the c.e.o.s mansions and cars. The worst charity ever.
@@roymagnus827 Because I give to UNICEF, I wanted to research this. Thankfully, it appears claims of “worst charity” trace back to a debunked, 2005, anonymous email, that gets revised & recirculated. The 2017 version claimed UNICEF the worst offender 11 years in a row, with the CEO receiving 1.2 mil a year salary, a Royal Royce & an expense account rumored to be over $150K (UNICEF is in 190 countries, so actually has multiple CEO’s) It further claims “less than $0.14 per dollar” goes to the cause Every “fact checking” site I found, including Snopes & non-profit watchdogs, like CharityWatch & Charity Navigator, say those claims are false. Watchdog groups state the requirements to get on their “Good” lists, including what % gets to the cause (typically 75% or better), % for costs (salaries, fundraising, etc), as well as a charity’s willingness to open their records for review (including tax returns). CharityWatch gives UNICEF an“A” rating. Charity Navigator (& the 2009 Forbes “200 Largest U.S. Charities” report) gave UNICEF a positive efficiency of 91%. I do appreciate your post, as everyone should research before donating & I hadn’t done so before, so thank you for that.
Great, Great song..But giving your royalties to UNICEF ?? Deadly mistake !! ...Out of 1$ ,95 cents go to salaries for the CEOs !,, that’s just wrong !! I’m pretty sure they regret it until the very end .I don’t question their motives , sincere and honest ,but they gave those royalties to the wrong organization.
By the time of this recording, they had been singing professionally for 20 years. Their music has spanned 6 decades. They also had a younger brother named Andy Gibb. Andy was a music sensation all his own. He was an amazing singer. But, he left us much too soon. He died in 1988. He was only 30 years old. I was a married 25 year old with a toddler when I heard that he died. But, I still cried like a baby. He had so much more music to give the world.
So many tracks have been added on the Vocal to get that harmony sound. It is Barry doing them. It is the same with Queen. Freddie adds so many harmony vocals to their tracks. Natural singers
I love to seek out the first time reaction to the Bee Gee's and especially to the Too Much Heaven song. Love to see the look on your face when Barry soars into that falsetto. Yes, this is baby making music. One guy said, "Don't let these guys anywhere near your girlfriends!" LOL Well that was a long time ago. Miss you Robin!
One angel is still on ground level - Barry at 73 still has his vocal skills while Robin & Maurice plus their younger brother, Andy are Angels in Heaven watching over Barry and rest of the Gibb Family.
Im 65 yrs. old and I've never heard any group cover the BeeGees They were brothers and their voices were so similar that their harmonies were unable to be copied. Barry's falsettto is a thing of legend.
Maurice (the shorter bearded twin) was the genius behind the harmonies. Robin’s vibrato was/is incomparable. ‘I started a joke’ and ‘Saved by the bell’ are must listen Robin tracks.

You made a very true statement when you said it's all voice. This was pure talent, before auto tune..The proof is right there on the video. Just there voices with a live orchestra.
This song was recorded live and in one take. The Brothers were already singing more then 20 years together. I grew up with then, hearing then as a child in the late 60's and 70's. Love them Always!! Truly gifted!!!
You’re hearing three brothers singing in perfect harmony.all three in falsetto with the exact same vibrato. Barry in the middle was14 and the twins around 10 when the formed in the fifties. It wasn’t hard for them except that it was Barry’s idea to do the song in falsetto. Barry did have a little more talent wise with producing their stuff and others and his writing. But the brothers were keyboardist and other instruments and the write and produced themselves none of them were slouches.
Dennis Caldwell other started when the twins were 5 and Barry was only 8 after listening to the Mills Bros. Musically all three were talented. Watch them perform acoustically on Michael Parkinson Show. Musical families can do this but they were exceptionally gifted. They also had a great sense of humour and were very humble.
You are mistaking a bit here.. Barry was 9 and the twins (Robin and Maurice) were 6 when they started singing together. This song has many vocal layers, not only falsetto but also their standard voices. Barry and Robin usually wrote the lyrics, while Maurice was the instrumentalist.
@@magg93 - Robin also had the most AMAZING vibrato and actually all three could sing falsetto (Fanny be tender, Too much heaven) but Barry had a longer sustain.
Do “Fanny Be Tender” - SO many layers and the blend of Barry’s natural voice and falsettos are nuts. It gives me chills when I play it on my Bose speakers.
I feel old realising not everyone has heard the Bee Gees before..lol.. even non Bee Gees fans would have heard them on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack (now feeling even older realising the film came out in 1977!)
It's hard to imagine isn't it! I still remember them in their hey-day! My God! They were everywhere and so incredible. I still listen to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.
I'm 22 and I grew up with this kind of music. I'm from the Philippines and Filipinos just love older music so almost all of the younger generations know a lot of singers from the 60s onwards. Being here in the US, it's seems so different 😂 most younglings should listen to this more often.
They are the best..singers in their own right and harmonize so beautifully. 40 years i have love them. Listen to New York Mining Disaster. Before Saturday night fever , Barry sang in his natural voice..which also wonderful. They are awesome..brothers and their love for each other shines thru. BEEGees forever..
The legendary Brothers Gibb. Their falsetto harmonies and songs defined an Era! Iconic! 👏👏👏👏👏👏 ❤️❤️❤️ No gimmicks, no auto tune! Live! Just a microphone and incredible talent. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Notice the subtle, elegant syncopations from the instruments. I've been hearing this song since slow dances at the disco and couples-only skates at the roller rink. I get old, but good music never does.
In January 1979,UNICEF officially proclaimed the year as “The Year Of The Child”. That month,a concert was held at the UN building in NYC. The concert was broadcast live worldwide(NBC in the USA). The invited performers, including The Bee Gees,ABBA & Rod Stewart and others, each contributed a song for the cause. This was The Bee Gees contribution. All sales and airplay from the song go to UNICEF.
You are absolutely right about the brilliant and beautiful voices, the perfect harmony, Barry's gorgeous hair, etc, but also know that the Bee Gees were lyricists and composers of ALL their music and some of the music for many other artists (and none of the Bee Gees could read music!). Truly a genius talent given by God! Also, from all of the interviews and documentaries I have seen, they were/are truly wonderful and kind men!
Maurice's voice gave their harmony the depth. That is one reason Barry and Robin stopped after Maurice's depth. If you listen to them, after Maurice died, there was no comparison. Their voices were a gift from god. They are truly one of the greatest groups in history. Their harmonization and song writing has inspired musicians for the last 50 years, and will inspire bands for another 100 years.
There is a special that is on youtube that aired in Australia with Abba, Olivia Newton John and Andy Gibb. I know it's not the same but its nice to watch.
Not quite. This song has 27 overlaid tracks; Barry sang 18 of them solo and the other 9 were the 3 brothers together. Karl Richardson the producer if the album said Barry was at his zenith then. He was composing songs in real time at the mic and when he recorded the tracks for this one each of the 18 solos was so perfect and exactly like the others they had to “roughen” it up a bit in the studio as it sounded too perfect. Incredible.
I LOVE when young people can really listen and appreciate the music from my era. Thank you for your analysis and genuine appreciation of the Bee Gees. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
If you wonder how many takes it took for them to harmonize perfectly, I can give you the answer. ! take. That is all they EVER need. If you dont believe that perfection is real, check out their live concerts and performances. Check out their acapella performances. PERFECTION! And they wrote ALL of their own music as well as huge hits for other artists.
I'm so glad that some of the younger generations are starting to listen and appreciate the great songs from the baby boomer and Gen-X generations it does a heart good. Today's generation has no idea what their missing.
They were also the only singers to have 5 of their songs in the top ten at the same time. They sang three of the songs. The other two songs were sung by other artist, but it was still written by the BeeGees.
Sadly, two of the three have passed away. Barry, the one in the middle, is the last Bee Gee left. There was another brother, Andy, the youngest brother of the four, passed in 1988.
That feathered silky 70's hair, you should check out their brother Andy! but they were so much more, amazing talents all of them, which makes me so sad that Barry is the only one still with us as i write this, they all could write and harmonize the hell out of their songs, LOVE them, all of their music. Don't let anyone mislead you into believing that their Disco years were not as great, their whole discography is amazing and i'm glad you finally got to react to them, and fall in love with their music, and Barry's hair ;)
I ABSOLUTELY luv yur reactions. The excitement on yur face and yur smile. So exciting seeing younger ppl listening to the magic BeeGees. They have always been my FAVORITE ppl....EVER and always will be. R.I.P Andy, maurice and robin. U will always be thought of and missed
Part of what I find that makes their singing together work so well, is how they pronounce their words. They all cut off the same words short, together, it's tight. They use the same vowel sounds, it's uniform, and they're doing this...with natural talent. There's no auto-tune. You go in the studio and you lay tracks. Over and over if it takes it. The instrumentation, it's supportive, as it should be in this song, because it's all about the voice. Front and center.
I love your review of this masterpiece. You say you feel like you are floating on a river - that expresses it perfectly. What this one family has contributed to our world is simply astonishing. Go down the Bee Gees rabbit hole, you will never regret it; unmatchable songwriting and harmonies, their voices are heavenly.
I was in high school when these guys were really popular. I saw them in 1978 during their Saturday night fever craze. Was a piece of heaven. I love how the brother on the left just stands there with his hands on his hips and sings like an angel!
There music was highly commercial polished in the studio, you have to love it. Live performances where often with a backingtrack like today's artist's.

-A whole lot of babies made to this music...just sayin'😁
They are the best..singers in their own right and harmonize so beautifully. 40 years i have love them. Listen to New York Mining Disaster. Before Saturday night fever , Barry sang in his natural voice..which also wonderful. They are awesome..brothers and their love for each other shines thru. BEEGees forever..
The legendary Brothers Gibb. Their falsetto harmonies and songs defined an Era! Iconic! 👏👏👏👏👏👏 ❤️❤️❤️
No gimmicks, no auto tune! Live! Just a microphone and incredible talent. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pure talent. Glad to see a younger generation to listen to music when it was genuine and honest. Kudos!
Amazing always, their brother Andy sounds just like them and had his own successful career
I was fortunate to grow up in the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's. You men have so much music to explore, you can't even imagine.
In those days, men didn't think that falsetto was a manly style, but we had BeeGees albums. Ladies loved them.
Richard Sass - The Bee Gees died with Maurice and half of Robin died with his twin. He was a broken man after losing Mo.
Agree. Mo was just irreplaceable
I love what you said “gift from God” that sums it up perfectly! Their voices were truly the best in harmony
I wish the Bee Gees and ABBA could have collaborated on a song or album, that would have been epic
There is a special that is on youtube that aired in Australia with Abba, Olivia Newton John and Andy Gibb. I know it's not the same but its nice to watch.
Hahahaha, why do they have so many common fans?
I don’t know if the world could have handled that
That would have been Too Much Heaven!
Because they are brothers that's why they harmonize perfectly
Knowing that they were consummate professionals, they probably went into that studio and knocked this masterpiece out in one take!
I believe it was 1 take. This song was for a UNICEF benefit fof kids. All the proceeds still go there. Brothers Gibb. Pure natural talent
Dereck you should start with some of their 60's songs to get how they evolved into the 70's sound, you won't be dissapointed.
I'm so glad that some of the younger generations are starting to listen and appreciate the great songs from the baby boomer and Gen-X generations it does a heart good. Today's generation has no idea what their missing.
Bee Gees are THE BEST! All the noises you make are what makes you you. ❤🎶
" SPIRITS HAVING FLOWN " is a wonderful song by them
You've been Bee Geed
They all had naturally curly hair that blow dries into a soft full look.
This was done live at a charity function and they were asked to perform . The Bee Gees donated all the money they were paided for their performance .
I know i'm an old men when i know someone, like you, discovering Bee Gees. This is then music band of my life
They're three brothers who have been singing together all of their lives, and two of them are twins.
Barry and twins, Robin and Maurice (pronounced Morris) 🙂
They're brothers and they had been doing it for a long time. Big impact on music.
1 take, Mom in the audience, all monies given to charity... ❤ Class.
It's a beautiful song, takes me back to my childhood x
& me x
Very true
They harmonize so well because they are brothers. The two on the outside twins.
Their brothers, these are pure love songs, nothing these days compare
thanks dereck for your reaction to the Bee Gees Too much Heaven wow fantastic !! Bee Gees music is great smooth music :)
They wrote this song in one day and a recorded it with the orchestra. They did this whole video in one take. One.
DISCO, baby. All day long. Happy music.
Just imagine being one of those musicians playing this song while Robin, Barry and Maurice doing their thing.
Brothers will do that
Great intonation, phrasing, breath control...
Your reaction is sooooo much details.........from technical singing to hair. Loveit😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thanks enjoy ✌🏽
I don't know how many takes it took to produce this video, but make no mistake, they could do this live just as well as this sounds.
There music was highly commercial polished in the studio, you have to love it. Live performances where often with a backingtrack like today's artist's.
If you notice, they were all stood back from the Mike. That way the clarity of their voices could be heard in full. No distortion at all.
These three brothers have been performing from kids,so it's just so natural to them to harmonize so well.
Robin cool as a cucumber with hands on hips throughout!🥰
Candle Lit Dining, Walks On The Beaches, The Park, Hot Bubble Baths When I listen to This Beautiful Song.
