    As you both will know, some YT channels enjoy subscription levels well beyond their channel's content value, while others are under-appreciated and deserve a much larger following. Your channel definitely falls into the latter category, and I'm thankful you continue to devote the time and effort you do. So thank you - again - for covering the practical side of truck camping full-time so well.

      Thank you so much! That's a wonderful comment to read, we really appreciate your comments and continued viewership. You made our week with this comment! Sorry it took so long to respond, we have been in no-mans-land for a bit. It's always hard to figure out what video to make, I have lists of ideas. Many times, it just about showing what we do/see. Thanks for tuning in!

    I get stuck in windstorms all the time. For me the most important thing to do is to park 'into' the wind, i.e. so the RV is facing towards the wind. This resolves most of the wind rock. If i cannot face into it, then i try to park with my backside facing the wind. If i park perpendicular to the wind, it is going to be a very rocky night.

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  2 роки тому +1

      Agreed, I park into the win whenever possible. It makes a huge difference!

    I 100% agree with Jack Tyler, I really appreciate your attention to detail and taking the time to explain how and why things are as they are. Thank you for putting out interesting and quality content Scott and Sasha! I really enjoy this video on getting set up with an approaching storm, you guys work so well as a team and I really like your setup in the truck, very nice. And a huge thanks for the feedback on my electrical system Scott! I think you are both very genuine and personable, adventurer loving, good people, thank you for sharing a portion of your lives.

      Thank you very much! Like I said to Jack Tyler, these comments mean the world to us. We do our best to make videos that people will like, but it's usually a gamble. I really enjoy showing the less glamorous side of our life, but that doesn't always get the views and attention that we need to survive on social media. We don't show many of the "bad" days, but adventure and excitement make the cut, its fun to share and people enjoy watching it.
      I'm always happy to help with projects. We really appreciate you taking the time to comment! 😊

    I love the Cirrus but if we order a new one, will definitely not want a stove vent. The overhead vent should be enough. Sasha and you are such troopers to forge through making us this video while you are super tired and hungry. 😀

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  2 роки тому +1

      The stove vents have pros and cons. We use ours daily, especially in cold weather to reduce the loss of heat. I agree that the roof fan works wonders, but, while cooking smelly or greasy foods, we prefer to use the stove vent to keep it contained. We usually have clothes and towels hanging and want to keep them fresh!
      Making videos can certainly be a lot of work and hassle, especially when we are tired and hungry. But meeting great people like you is exactly why we do it! Thanks for watching 😊

    Well, this is my first time watching one of your videos. I do appreciate some of the detail you go into. I am a 68 yr. old home bound woman & I live vicariously thru a bunch of different people on UA-cam. They are either building, home steadying & doing the traveling like you two are. I wish my health were better, or I had thought of doing this when I was way younger. But since that is now not possible, I live thru your adventures. I am going to go thru your different videos & check things out. I am also subscribed & going to be watching for more adventures with you.
    Thanks muches for sharing......

      Hi Jamie and welcome to our channel! Scott and I have always wanted to travel and we were encouraged to do it now by so many family members. Traveling full-time can be difficult. We constantly have to think about refilling our camper with water, getting propane and think about dumping our tanks. We have our good days and our bad days, but overall this has been a great experience. Our favorite part of this is to meet incredible people on the road and online. Thank you so much for your kind words, we’re glad you like our videos and we appreciate your support!

    We have been lucky so far to not have been in that bad of winds- but it is something you need to plan and think about- especially if going to be driving in high winds! Removing the sticks from the roof is a good call! Tap, tap, tap, tap- insane!! Chasing RV Sunshine ☀️ Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya

      The wind out west is pretty constant. I’m ok driving in winds, but I’ll find a place to park if they start getting too much over 45 mph cross winds. It’s the gusts that you have to watch out for!
      And yes, tapping noises are so annoying!

    I always put my jacks down if I’m staying the night just in case the winds picks up at night. The truck swaying always wakes me up. I use a white noise machine to drown out noises while dispersed camping. Like you, I’m a very light sleeper. Lol. Glad you didn’t forget to lock the stove vent prior to sleeping. Lol. Great vid and thanks for sharing!

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  2 роки тому

      We put the jacks down only when needed. We have adapted to sleeping in strange environments, but the wind is pretty hard to tolerate. I love having the legs to keep things stable, such a huge difference!
      The stove vent is a common joke between us, we always forget it, even when we talk about it. We eat dinner and it slips our mind!
      Thanks for watching!

      Thanks. Wind creates some various issues for us. Camper shaking, dust (which limits ventilation), everything rattling and banging, stuff blowing away and the risk of damage. So it’s a lot to think about in a short period of time. Every situation is different, and luckily that was a gentle wind in comparison to other events we’ve encountered.

    This channel is about to explode... Your content is excellent and you are both such down-to-earth folks! I'm so glad I discovered y'all.
    Could you try adding a bit of rubber tape or something to the impact points on that vent flap? It might still blow around in the breeze but something to absorb the impact might eliminate the noise and 1 am trips into the cold!

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Sorry for the slow response, we've had a rough time in the last 8 weeks or so.
      I've thought about springs, rubber feet, elastic bands etc. Unless it's windy, it doesn't cause any issue. We just need to remember to close it when it's windy out. Rubber/foam may soften the noise, but it will still squeek and bang. It would also prevent it from shutting completely. It isn't really a big deal, just a once a month annoyance.

      That was a great spot! We try to avoid trees, especially in stormy weather. However, sometimes it just isn't possible. In those situations, I'll evaluate the tress around us looking for dead wood or loose branches. It's always a gamble, but a little observation goes a long way!

    Great Video my friend !!
    Do you try to point the truck into the wind??

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  2 роки тому

      Thanks for coming along 😁
      We do factor in wind direction, we always try to have the truck facing forward or backward into the wind for the greatest stability. It doesn't always work out that way, and many times the wind comes from all directions. We also try to park near rock outcroppings, but we try to avoid trees.
      I'd rather be level than have the truck pointed perfectly into the wind, unless we have winds over 50-60 MPH expected, then I'l make sure I have the front of the truck facing into the wind.

    Have you heard to reseal your camper roof since you had it?

      Not yet. I did add a fan and some wiring, which I sealed. But I haven't needed to do anything like that yet. I keep a close eye on it. Spring of 2021, we had some warranty work done on the camper. While they were doing it, they resealed the sides. I made a video about it here: ua-cam.com/video/s53-OVcNVHA/v-deo.html

      Hello! Thanks for the comment :) We do use a cell phone booster, its a weBoost Drive 4G-X. We run is most of the time, but we will shut it off when we have really strong signal in the area. We use it everywhere we go, and it works with all 4g networks, it does not work with 5g.

    One of the things I've wondered about the most is how Nomads find these remote BLM spots without road signs. Also, if you know the direction of the winds, do you try to park with the nose of the truck into that general direction to reduce buffeting?

      Great questions!
      We have an article on our site about how we find Boondocking/camping: www.stonyboot.com/2021/06/21/great-boondocking-and-how-to-find-it/
      I'll be turning the article into a video soon.

    Why put the antenna up with heavy winds?

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  Рік тому

      We needed the extra cell signal and the wind doesn’t really effect the antenna. It’s just a skinny pole.

      Hi, this is Sasha and I’m not exactly sure what you mean🧐 Whenever we record ourselves we have a natural flow of speech, and when we edit the video some sections get cut out for various reasons.

      Good question. It was 30s at night and 50s-70s during the day. Just depended on the weather.
