I recently had my mind made up on a Silverado, I love the look of them... I test drove 6. The dealer had a used 2016 f150 on the lot so I asked to drive that one.. I was blown away at how the truck handled and accelerated. They feel like a big sports car... I ended up buying that f150.
2.7l? Any issues so far? I'm debating on getting one

I got a 17 f150 2.7 xl scab in March 2020. So far its been a good truck big upgrade from a 13 xlt 5.0.
I did the same thing! Drove 4 silverados and didn’t like any of them, went across street drove an F150 2.7 and was sold.drove home a few days later with my new truck...
I was looking at tundras but not committed to anything. Ended up driving all makes 1/2 tons at the dealer and found the Fords handled and drove the nicest. The 3.5 eco sealed it though, all that torque down low beats any V8 gasser and reminded me of my 03 Cummins I used to have
I got my new STX 5 day ago, so now is 500 miles on it , and I love it! Is really good on gas too

I have Lead Foot too, great colour! Crazy how different it can look depending on how sunny or cloudy it is.
The 2nd gen 2.7 is actually very different from the original... They went to a dual timing chain setup to prevent the stretch problem, they added port fuel injection (in addition to direct injection) to help prevent carbon buildup on the intake valves, they switched to lightweight cams to improve efficiency, they switched to electronic wastegate instead of vacuum actuated for better efficiency and quicker response, improved EGR system, switched to electronic variable oil pump to improve efficiency... I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple things. Clearly, this was a major revision and the changes they made will make the 2.7 more efficient and more reliable, while also improving its responsiveness.. The 2.7 ecoboost is the only F-150 engine I would purchase because it's the most advanced and well engineered powertrain they currently offer, in my opinion.
I have a 2019 which I assume is a gen 2 and is has vacuum actuator for the waste gate. I thought they were supposed to be electric?

I have a 2017 2.7 4 door. I’ve put 45,000 miles on it completely trouble free. MIne is an XLT. It flies and gets 21 mpg around town on regular fuel
Just got into a 2018 STX 4x4 supercrew with a 2.7 EcoBoost. A world of difference from my 2010 Ranger XLT 4x4.

I just got one a month ago. Love it! Can’t say that enough. Agreed with everything you said. Mine came with a class 4 hitch and spray in bed liner. Which was a dealer option add on.
I just got a 2019 STX and I got carpeting with WeatherTech-style floor mats and I got a hitch receiver. Maybe Ford heard ya! Love my STX so far.
I got one the exact same model as this video but blue about a week ago. I can not believe how fast and smooth it is! Silent ride too.
I chose the XLT because I wanted some extra features such as panoramic moonroof and backup trail assist. But the STX is pretty nice and a great bang for buck!
I don't do really any off roading or crazy driving. It's used as a family vehicle for camping and to carry kayaks and tow every now and then. I have the 2.7 and love the power, and I actually like that it's quiet.

I just bought my stx on Saturday. I was going for the xlt sport but the stx looked better because the color and the grill. From what I understand the only difference is the stx does not have power seats and navigation and the xlt sport does. I like that the shifter is behind the steering wheel as well as opposed to on the xlt it is in the center console area which leaves less storage space. I'm very happy I went with the stx instead of xlt sport.

My 2018 Super Crew Raptor weighed in at 5,670lbs (weightmaster weightstation) with just over 3/4 tank of fuel.

Not sure if those floors are part of the stx package my 2018 stx is carpeted. I put down weathertech but it came carpeted with mats. I’m consistently getting 24 mpg + on long trips, pretty impressive. I would recommend clazzio leather seat covers. They look factory but cost less than half that. Great video btw.
I have the 2017 STX and love it. Mine came with the 3.5 which really moves out. Do I wish I could have had a higher trim level? Sure. But for the value this truck was perfect for me!
How has the truck ben after this time im having a hard time in deciding the 2.7 or 3.5 any issues with youres?
Had a 2016 2.7 w six speed. Awesome truck! Our new 2018 3.5 w ten speed is even better for towing! I would recommend the 3.5 with ten speed for towing.
How has the 3.5 held up any issues ?

I owned one for 2 weeks. I didn't like having to think about parking it everyday, backing it in everywhere, ect. I got a smaller SUV AWD that works much better for me. I did love the truck though. If you buy something like this buy it because you actually need a truck. I really didn't, but it was a life lesson. We all make mistakes. Ford really does make a great truck.

Actually there are some pretty big changes in the gen 2 design. Dual timing chains to prevent any friction loss , upgraded egr , exhaust setup , dual port injection , upgraded turbos, and a electronic waste gate that has better boost control, other than that torque is upgraded 25lbs to 400 , also also peak torque hitting a little lower rpm. 10 speed transmission as well , and 3.55 seems to be the standard on gen 2 . Good video.
The 2.7 doesn't get the electronic waste gates, just the 3.5.

@@calebniederhofer6529 Sorry, but nope. I have a 2nd gen 3.5 and it has it. My work truck is a '19 with the 2.7 and it absolutely doesn't. Seriously, you can clearly see the vacuum lines and diaphragm actuators on the 2.7's turbos.
@@231mac I have a 19 2.7 myself. Ford introduced the 2018 model year Ford F-150 with the second generation 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine. The upgraded engine got a number of changes similar to the second gen 3.5 EcoBoost. The most important changes include the direct injection combined with port injection, a new high-pressure exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR), dual-chain camshaft drive system with new lightweight camshafts, new turbochargers with an electrically actuated wastegate, and an electronically controlled variable-displacement oil pump.

Buying a 2019 150. Started at that exact STX and options. May go XLT Sport though. The 2.7 is excellent.
The main attraction besides the price to the STX for me is honestly the grille.. I dislike the new F150 grilles other than the STX one and the price difference for very few extra features wasn’t worth it to me!

Hitch receiver is a simple add-on that comes with MOST Ford F-150s. I would say your truck was an unlucky one that didn't come with it. Someone wasn't thinking very much when they configured the truck without it on a 4x4.
I honestly love this trim level F150. I think once I’m done with my schooling in 2020 I’m hoping I can find a nice used one in a few years with about 20k to 30k miles on it.

I still love my 2015 GMC Sierra base model double cab switched the 17 in wheels and tires for 20 in Denali wheels all terrian tires bed cover tool box and weather tec mats 60k miles 17k out the door. It has the 4.3 v6 runs great, ive driven a base f150 no boost i like the 4.3 compared to Ford's base.

I own the exact same truck and sell them for a living. The STX trim is awesome, btw you can get carpet in them and mine has the tow package and tailgate step.
I have a 2020 f150 stx 4x4 2.7. I leveled the front 2” and bought rims and 33” bfg ko2’s and it looks pretty slick.

I found a decent equipped XLT package to be slightly cheaper than a fully loaded XL.... with a class 4 receiver for towing
There was a big difference which is why I bought this truck. The new 2018 2.7L has (PDFI) which is Port Fuel injectors and Direct Fuel injectors that's two for each cylinders. thereby eliminating any need for a can system to keep the valves clean. SORRY you got a bumper pull. Mine has the Hitch Receiver. also you can get the Ford OEM soft let down tailgate for under $70 on Amazon. there is an after market one but it doesn't work very good and makes noise. Sorry I just realized this is a STX mine is an XLT big difference. but still a great truck.

A coworkers ecoboost has the turbos go out on it, 10,000 in repairs had to be made. Good thing it was still under warranty
I smell a Chevy troll...two OEM replacement turbos cost $1250 off Amazon.com. For 10,000 dollars you could replace the engine and transmission AND still have money left over.

Like the stx's. But can't justify the expense. I don't like to lease. Just bought myself a standard F 150 work truck with the standard 3.3. Love v8's but I needed a new vehicle fast and wanted a regular cab. It does have 4x4 though but beyond that no carpet, no appearance package etc. I hope it lasts 11 years like my last truck. We shall see.
@@cbskwkdnslwhanznamdm2849 it's fine for what I need. It will pull 7700lbs and carry almost 2000lbs. I used to use my old 4 cylinder ranger mostly for sports(avid biking and golfer) or light hauling. That was only just over 140hp. So this at 290hp is a nice step up and more than enough.
@@cbskwkdnslwhanznamdm2849Also It really depends on what you need. A 4x4 with the V8 would have gotten me about 3 mpg less but able to put twice the load in the back and pull about 4000 more pounds. But there's nothing that I will ever do that requires that much to be pulled or hauled.

My 2020 they deleted the plastic engine cover and felt mat on bottom side of thee hood. Other than that truck is identical. Oh and I got the receiver hitch. Maybe they listened to you. Damn good value. I had 85,000 on my 2016 2.7 f150 and it was great. Pulled better than the v8.
I had a 2015 xlt 301 with a 2.7 eco. It was great. Ounce I got about 45000 miles on it, I traded up to a 2017 xlt 302a package with the same 2.7 EcoBoost engine. Now with 44,000 miles it's at Ford because of blue smoking issues. They are talking about a tsb 18-2237 in which is replacing the heads on it. I personally feel like my 2015 2.7 with the 301 package was a better truck. This makes me wonder about going to other brands like ram or tundra.
The real difference is the fuel injection system, 18 has port and direct injection, the 17 has the direct injection only, same parking brake.

Nice truck man - interesting thing is that I do not believe all STX trucks come with a built in rear mat. Mine had the carpet and came with a tow hitch. Could it (rubber floor) be a dealer added accessory?

I just got mine this week and I'm loving it!! I do not have the 4x4 or supercrew though. Mine is the supercab 2wd 2.7L but I absolutely agree that it's the best value Ford offers in the F-150. I looked at a few STX's and they all differ slightly. I looked at one that had the carpet. I purchased the one without carpet because it's so much easier to clean and the rubber floors feel great IMO. Both the trucks I looked at had the tow package on them. One had the locking rear differential which is the one I purchased. All the STX have the big center console and 8 inch touch screen which were a must for me. I did not want the fold down center seat. They also have AC vents in the back with USB and 12V connections. The exterior on these trucks look great. I prefer the black honeycomb grill over chrome and the wheels are the same 20 inch wheels that come with the King Ranch. All in all the STX is a great option for people who dont need the fancy heated seats or shifter in the center console and the 2.7L is such a big surprise at the power. Everytime I press the gas I'm impressed that it comes from a little 2.7L V6. My only worry is the reliability and maintenance with the twin turbos but we'll cross bridge if we ever have to (hopefully we'll never have to). Great vid man!! My 18 stx 4x4 came with the full carpet and reciever hitch. I wish I had the rubber floor. One thing I don't understand is why they would put the running boards on the 2wd and not on the 4x4.
@@jeremymattix8618 All those STX's are different. Took me 2 months to find my 2017. I wanted the FX4 package and the back up camera and the Sirius satellite radio and the carpet and the trailer hitch receiver. You just have to look for the one that fits your needs and budget. No way I could lease though. Already put about 7k in upgrades. Got to make it my own. I have been very pleased with the truck so far. If your budget allows, by the AMP Research Power steps, you and especially your wife will really like them.
How much down for ur truck for lease .
The longevity of the echo boost is what I would worry about it might be good when it's New but when the echo boost breakes down
Franco Farinon ... You can buy an extended bumper to bumper warranty with the purchase of a new ford. I switched to Ford from Chevy, always had good luck with GM products, so we will see what Fords got. I also purchased car maintenance plan (Oil / Lube / Inspections) for 1000 bucks. It came with 20 coupons, which is nice. I got the 3.5 with Ten speed, averaging 22mpg on average now. I don’t see the EcoBoost being a problem, as the only used ones they had on the lot (where I bought mine) had over 150k miles.
I am thinking to lease one. Can you please tell me how much you put down. It would help me a lot. Because right were I love it’s 2000$ down and $179 a month but I fee like there is something about that price. Please let me know.

Same here! Dealer kept trying to sell me on the stx but got a xlt 5.0 sport 4x4. I also prefer the 18 inch wheels over the 20s that come with the stx package. They're still great trucks and it was a test drive in an stx that sold me on a ford over a chevy
titanman2789 today I used FORScan and disabled the auto stop start BS and now I’m happy. I actually sold my stock 18” wheels and tires and put 20” platinum wheels on mine because I like the bigger wheels!

I've found that in addition to having minimal headroom, the Dodges/RAMs/whatevers have a very busy dashboard setup that's both too much in-your-face and in-your-knees; it's too big and busy. The GMs on the other hand have very unimpressive towing/hauling numbers that don't warrant a purchase unless it's strictly going to be a (as others have called it) "mall truck". And ... I agree with you on ditching the 20"s for 18"s; 20"s are for show and ride is bound to be rougher. I'd rather go with 18"s or even 16"s with a taller/wider profile too.

That's why I went with the 5.0. It's a proven engine. I love the look of the STX, but got the XLT sport. Can't go wrong either way ☺

Just look at decades old Mercedes' and look for the "Kompressor" marking, this means "Turbo". Saab has also been doing this for a very long time.
Tactickle Shtooper agreed, however, how long something has been around (internal combustion engines) does not necessarily mean success. Equinox oil burning, CRV oil dilution, even Toyota sludge, etc., etc.
I find one of the problems is that North Americans are not educated on the finer points of owning a turbo.
They get in, floor it, drive fast, turn engine off immediately and maybe extend oil changes too long.
Fixed vane turbos much more reliable than variable pitch versions.(eco boost)

I have a 2.7 2017 and its sweet I have 61k now and it's never let me down I have a 14 ft trailer and it moves it like nothing.
There is a HUGE difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2. Its no longer direct injection only, its Port AND direct inj. So 2017 and older i suggest u get a catch can if u want your motor to reach 100k+ miles efficiently. 2018+ dont need one, as much as these parts sellers on UA-cam might have you believe (i wont start calling them out lol)
Anyway, i love my STX, i do regret not getting a rear locker even tho i havnt had a need for one yet, its probably because the few times i want to go offroad i change my mind very quickly...
Sucks 4x2s dont get the tow hooks or even ACCESS to them to install a Brush Guard/Bumper.
Requires you to rip the front end of the truck off its ridiculous.
Buy yourself an LED strip brake light w/integrated turn signals & a harness reciever that snaps right into your Tow harness(40$). Keeps autostart garbage off for good and looks absolutetly sick.
Also upgrade the rear shocks with medium tier o es (80-100$) because the factory ones are trash idk what hes talking about the truck hops all over the place in the rear after any bump

Matthew Brown he just didn’t buy the truck with class IV hitch, and this guy acts like vinyl floors are the coolest thing since sliced bread but really it’s just a base model truck. You have to option up for carpet.
$200. option for class4 hitch, $145. option for carpet vs rubber floor
I just can’t buy the STX, maybe I’ll buy a fully loaded XLT but more likely a Lariat. Really want those LED headlights, B&O Audio, Start/Off button, and leather seats.

I’ve been looking at trucks this past week. The STX is a great value and looks great. My question is how is Ford going to roll out the Ranger with an exact price point. Locally there selling x-cabs for 33k. Crew cabs for 38k.

I love mine too. Mine is a magma red supecrew 4x4 with the 2.7L TT. I drove a 2006 XLT for 15 years. it was a work horse. If it had 4x4 I would still have it. With that said. My new truck is the best money I ever spent. I got it with 50k miles on it at the end of this past January.

The factory-installed receiver hitch is a paltry $95, and it is an option because not everyone needs to tow. An aftermarket hitch would run ~$400. People want EVERYTHING to be standard, but then they want to bitch about the high price of trucks. It boggles the mind.
A hitch is only $95 on the window sticker. Why any dealer would order this truck without one is beyond me...!

See I love the column shifter I like the storage more and for some reason I just feel like on a truck the shifter should be on the column I don’t know why

Don't need it. Instead, plug your phone into one of the many usb ports and use the navigation app from the phone. Push the "talk to" button on the steering wheel and you can use voice commands to enter the address. Or say things like, "Play Grateful Dead, what's the weather today?", etc.

Its rated to tow 8000 lbs with a hitch! Since you dont have a hitch and have to mount a ball on your bumper your tow rating goes down to almost nothing

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that you are suppose to change modes while driving. If I owned an EcoBoost equipped F150, I know that I wouldn't be changing modes while driving it. I also, wouldn't buy a full size, crew cab truck with the smallest EcoBoost engine. I'd rather go with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine for a crew cab truck.

You are most certainly wrong. If you weren’t supposed to change... they wouldn’t allow you the chance to. Does nothing to the truck other than transmission shift schedule.
