    I use to do so much plumbing work on toilets and unclogging pipes in the basement but now I just do the clean work and let the other guys deal with the basements and stuff.You are a great handyman.

      I did manage to skew the pipe going in which results in a drip every time it's flushed though.... Will fix another time.
      Many thanks for watching.

      That is the plan! It isn't a difficult job, but one I fear people will often just not do.

      Please get someone to help with the camera. The key part of your video was done off camera. Please upload a redo video. Good class anyway

    Its funny how quick you become a plumber, an electrician , construction worker , carpenter , all around handyman when you become a homeowner !

      It's either that or you spend your time finding tradesmen to do small jobs which takes longer than doing it yourself! (as well as costing lots of money).
      Many thanks for watching Bill.

      @@GuysPlayingWithTools From this side of the pond that looks really odd. The whole syphon flush unit is around £10, or $12.50 ish but that doesn't include the ball valve affair. How much is yours unit?

    Haha, the amount of times I've had to do that job!!!! I worked in a public venue for a few years doing maintenance - I joined when the building was just the right age for everything like this to fail - the toilets were typical commercial building ones with the tank hidden behind a pretty panel, so the job started with dismantling the back wall of the cubicle, then you had to get into the tank with very little access due to the framework for the pretty panels. After that, I'd be working in a dimly lit space, trying not to drop my tools into the void below, otherwise the job would become even better!!! Then, just when I was really concentrating, I'd be plunged into total darkness because the PIR lights had timed out, and then it was a case of stumbling back to the vestibule where the PIR sensor was to get the lights to come back on!!!! Oh the joys!!!!!
    Great little fix Ben, it's such a common problem, and not THAT difficult to fix, although it can often throw a bit of a curve ball, so I don't blame people for avoiding it. Bizarrely, most people I spoke to didn't want to work on toilets because "it's all horrible yucky water" and I'd have to explain that the tank is filled with the same lovely clean water that you put in your kettle to make your coffee!!!!!

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  2 роки тому +1

      Ah the joys of working with concealed tanks and irritating lighting! Adds to the joy of the job.
      The waters is as you say clean. Only issue is you get a bit of humidity around the tanks which can make the area damp and also spider webs. Not a problem though.
      Many thanks for watching.

      @GrumpyTim 2 роки тому +1

      @@BensWorkshop Yep, I'm not a fan of concealed tanks - they will always go wrong sooner or later, and they're much more hassle if you can't even get to them! Spiders - not a problem, although they are for a great many people.

      The bit that was done off camera was trimming the syphon washer I had to fit. There are chapter markers so you can skip bits.
